Kudo's System between users.

Doesn't seem much point. Anyone who's anyone knows who's anyone anyway.

Kudos +1

Yes, but it can be encouraged or discouraged, so it's still valid to as whether it is good.
Since people are not created equal and humans are genetically programmed to look for differences in each other, it is probably a "good" thing in the long run. I do support encouraging people to be kind to one another in spite of our differences, though. :)

If we could write little blurbs for kudoses (that everyone could view) for other posters and only allow one poster to give another poster a single kudos, I think it would turn into a system for complimenting one another in a constructive, friendly, and community building manner.

Or a way for you to promote your ego...

Certainly that's a part of it, but it's not merely that. There are quite a few posters here that I'd like to write public compliments for.

I find this quite ironic.
But still, if people began bashing some of the posts that someone else made, they probably aren't going to stick around much longer. And seriously, do we want a forum with no one but Perfection, Abaddon, CivGeneral, and Rambuchan on it?

How so?

I don't see the relevance to what I was saying

How'd you come up with that list?

we have a kudos system at another forum I go to. we call it Karma, its located under the postcount. the admintrator looks at the threads and notices who people agree/like and who people dont agree with/like. but the forum is only a mere 53 members , so the kudos system, or as they call it Karma, works. we have a too big community to have a kudos system, IMHO. :) one user had -4 Karma, which meant most of the community loather/disliked/not agreed with him/her.:p

But that's the problem; we have a very wide community at CFC, with differing views.
Let's say, for sake of argument, that we're talking about Indian expansionism, or something.
We have very few Indians here compared to other members, so they're likely to be disagreed with, and have negative points.
Is that really a fair way to go?

Well, do you think people would only give negative views based on political differences? I'm not sure. I'd give quite a few posters high praise despite quite oppositional viewpoints.

Yea but few people are objective nowadays.
So i am still with "No negative points" - not as in "not able to go below 0" but as in "able to give ONLY positive points".

I agree though, I'd love a system that allows us to compliment one another. Especially if you can make a write up for your kudos and have them displayed. That would be friggin' sweet.
