So, still no proposal from Catherine.

Catherine was afraid that trading any city now and taking it back later would be a breach of contract. Although peace is a luxury that Russians want to enjoy eventually, the past few centuries of military built up dragged down our economy and science considerably. It's a waste to see all these shiny cannons to be sitting ducks and turned into scrab metals.

Right now the Russians need to rest, so we can promise the Egyptians 10 turns of peace. After that Japan has to be gone forever and we will see how the Persian-Songhai war goes. We strongly suggest the Egypians preparing for military race, if not for the Russians, possibly for the Persians.

The 3rd phase of Darius's Great Project is engaged. Our strong economy and production(only 5 hammers behind Catherine without focusing) has matured to a point where our country is in almost full military mode. Only Persepolis is pursuing great wonders and buildings like the Ironworks and a Satrap's Court for example.

We don't want a WW1 but we at least take our engagement to defend our land properly and not let anybody take place on our continent. Every attempt will result into an extra penalty to deter other malicious forms of diplomacies.

A unit lost when a city is lost is lost for no good reason. Fortified on defensive terrain outside, at least he'd do some damage to attacking units.
The garrisoned songhai pikes made a sortie from Edinburgh and managed to destroy a regiment of persian pikes.
At the moment at "Songhai vs Persia War" casualties:
of Persia - 2 pikes (the second pike was killed when making an attempt to land on songhai coast near Borderline city without any naval protection)
of Songhai - 1 pikeman and the city of Edinburgh.

But Askia is going to arrange D-Day for persians if they try to make widescale amphibous landing on the coast of Borderline city. Then there will be much more casualties from both sides. :p

The 'permanent golden age strategy' requires Persia to go on full military mode to generate GG in vanilla.

Their massive gold from Golden Age will be most efficiently spent if they manage to build the Big Ben. That's why Catherine suspects the 'Great Project' that Darius is speaking refers to the Big Ben.

Any news and policy statement from the mysterious Chinese-Roman land? Protected by the Great Wall, bordering to almost any empire.

Askia has sent a peace proposal to the king of Persia. We don't see any necessity in further bloodshed between Persia ans Songhai.
If Darius accepts the peace proposal, Askia promises not to attack any of city states on the persian subcontinent without preliminary agreement with the king of Persia.
Furthermore, accepting the white peace will show to Askia and leaders of other civilizations that Darius seeks for a peaceful development of his country rather than military expansion toward songhai lands.

Darius understands now how powerful is your army, Lord Rstark. I think it's time for us to make a peace deal and ensure prosperity for turns to come. We are ready to sign a research agreement to fullfill our engagement if you want. Your defense is solid and i'm not convinced that it will be a good idea to continue this war anymore.

Strangely, Darius's fleet was about to take down the coastal city of Songhai. Perhaps they are moving on to the next target, because none of the remaining Songhai cities are coastal now.

It looks like Catherine will now face the combined force of Egypt-Songhai. After we weaken the Songhai, the more advanced Persian force comes back and reap the fruit. Nice plan, Darius!

In fact he killed 2 of my Frigates. Impressive knowing that a frigate is 30 :c5strength: base and he's attacking with cannons and crossbowmen only. I calculated 4 attacks including the city and for an average of 2 per hit. So i could insta heal and continue to attack. But...it's not what happened.

Also, this River Warlord UA is annoying

Anyways, my main cities are always building military so don't think that i'm suddenly weak. Of course there is China that finished his rampage so i'm more cautious too. But i don't think that 3 of us want a war for now knowing that Songhai can backstab China if China DoW me and China can backstab Songhai if we stay at war.

2 new Frigates are coming but it's for defensive purposes only. The virgin continent is about to be fully explored soon. I even got friendly with one of them thanks to a liberated worker.

Askia will be pleased to sign a peace treaty with Darius :)
Both of us fought well and the military power occured to be even for both sides.

Askia will also be delighted to sign RA with Persia in order to guarantee lasting peace in the borders between Persia and Songhai.

Excellent! I know you have built the Porcelaine Tower but since it's my decision to want peace i will gladly let you some ''free'' beakers in exchange of the liberation of Edinburgh :)

@Tabarnak

Askia made a proposal to Darius, but it was interrupted by the war:

Askia would like to propose some deal to Darius, the king of Persia.
We are aware that the city state of Québec, a former ally of Persia, is a friend of Persia at the current moment. However, the ruler of Québec has declared war to Songhai, so Askia wants to change the government in this city state.
Let Songhai troops conquer this settlement. After taking the city, as soon as Songhai army restores its health, Askia will send a proposal of selling this city to Persia for 200 gold. It will be the choice of Darius to make Québec part of his empire or to liberate the CS. In case of liberation Persia will acquire a maritime ally for more than 100 turns.
A worker of Québec will also be granted to Persia after the proposal is accepted. Songhai troops will not loot any strategic or luxury resources of Québec, so Persia will be able to enjoy these resources ASAP.
At the end of the day, Askia will get tons of cash and Persia will get nearly eternal CS ally if the deal is accepted by persians.
Askia believes that the deal proposed by him will be equally beneficial for Persia and Songhai.
Askia is willing to suggest this proposal as soon as our nations will be in a peace.
Does the king of Persia want this deal to take place?

If Darius refuses the above mentioned proposal, the army of Songhai will not attack the city state of Quebec.

Ours is a defensive alliance, to ensure our mutual security, and so that we don't turn on each other. All Pharaoh has ever asked Catherine is that she allow a buffer between our two nations, rather than our border with Satsuma becoming militarised and a drain on both our economies. Satsuma is too close. We offered to take it off your hands, and you could not think of a fair price. We would rather there was no city there than that our borders be so close.

How are you hanging there? Any sign of CKN movement?

Romans will not be long for this world. Our scout is witness to a truly frightening Chinese army, which will challenge or overpower any other in the world, once it has completed its task and turns its attention elsewhere.

Egypt is glad to hear of the return to peace between the Songhai and Persia.

we will soon be city-less ... the CKNs had closed around antium the last couple of terms to take it, now we only have our iron city in the far north --> which is currently coming under siege by what is certainly a minor detachment of the chinese army. beware the chinese!

The Chinese army is merely a few conscripts thrown together to keep the peace and pacify outlying guerilla activity. Wu Zetian's bloodlust has been satiated and there will be no more military expeditions for the Chinese while we hide behind our Great Wall.

With all these peaceful words, i think it 's time for Darius to send some settlers for the new continent. Now that the Ironworks is almost done i can work on some personnal projects.

It seems that Darius didn't notice the proposal made by Askia to Persia

Wanted to see the peace treaty first but yeah ok it's a deal.

Good game Banman - tough starting position over there and I was feeling uncharacteristically militant for some reason (must be because Tab is in the game).
