Learned Optimism Test

-10 Very pessimistic

This is the worst online test that I have ever taken. None of the answers made sense.

Personalization Bad Score 7 very low self-esteem

No, its called personal responsibility. When you get lost driving to a friends house, campaign for an office, or forget an important date, you take responsibility for yourself. You don't blame it on others. That is is not "low self-esteem", it is being pragmatic and realistic about your own limitations.

Good minus Bad Score -3 very pessimistic

I am, without a doubt, the most optimistic person that I know.

Wowow wait you mean the test actually scores as pessimistic any answer that says "it's my freakin'fault"?

Seconded.

I very much doubt this test will be any good, so I won't bother taking it. ;)

Thirded (no offense, OP). I didn't even make it to the tenth question - almost every question is some lame choice between accepting responsibility or blaming things on outside circumstances. Whoever made this test seems like a moron (and yet is likely a tenured professor making six figures  ).

Edit: I love the category titled "Stuff of Hope". I may be backing a losing cause in the 'Battle of the nerds' thread, but I think I can safely nominate the guy who wrote this crapfest for last place in the 'seekers of truth' category.

:agree: :stupid:

I am optimistic and and have high self-esteem. I consider my accepting responsibility and my reasoned thinking a strength, which further bolsters my optimism and my self-esteem. The idea that I have low self-esteem or that I am a pessimist is rediculous.

I got a 0, by the way.

It was a poor test. You're pessimistic if you blame others. How is blaming others optimisim?

I think the logic is that it's optimistic bBecuase you're not blaming yourself. But putting "optiministic answers" on this test also shows that you're not willing to be accountable for your actions. Admitting that you made a mistake or knowing your faults does not make you pessimistic.

I don't understand where you ppl get only 1 "result".

I get 10. :crazyeye:

You mean the "Good minus Bad Score" ? That one is 0 - Very Pessimistic.

If 0 is very pessimistic then what is -5 ?

In that case, apparently -10 is just as pessimistic as 0. Wierd test. Some of the questions were very stupid tho, on several i really didn't know what to answer.

I get the feeling that Dr. Martin Seligman is braindead. :p
