Leave Them Without Life - A Dwarf Fortress Community Fortress

At least you realise that. Millions of posters all over the world suffer from cronic noobitus and don't realise it. It is a sad condition without any particular cure.
 
Update II: Bed and Breakfast


As we enter summer, many constructions are taking place, notably the bedrooms for our starters, which are larger than the cheaper housing to come. These rooms are next to the brook and as such stay cool during the hot summer, an early form of air conditioning if you will. The staircase you see goes up a level, the idea is that the more stairs you make the less crowding you will have in certain areas.

Outside it has been ordered to build a stone defensive structure around our fortress. This building will be but a hub for future expansions and will merely be a way of defending ourselves until a time that we can expand it into a proper castle or some such thing.

As the stockpiles are expanded and created, craftsdwarfs Ironman and Charles Li begin pumping out rock crafts to trade with the fall caravan. Our dining hall has been started on and so far we have found many types of colored and interesting rocks. A good sign for the future?

Next we will finish the outside defenses and setup a few areas deeper underground, which will include digging to the bottom of the earth and setting up a small burial chamber for the death that will in all probability consume us all.

Update III: First Caravan and Migrants


The summer was passing by and the basic necessities of the fortress had been completed, miners Luckymoose and Ironman labored away at carving out various new hallways and other design features while the current leader and bookkeeper Charles_Li setup office in a small dirt office near the workshops and starting record updating.

Now that we have a good estimation of our supplies, we have an idea on how well we are doing. Everything is going as planned right now. The above ground extensions are going surprisingly fast even though the depot platform hadn't been completed in time for the caravan and we had to make due with the depot being on the ground for now. The first Caravan arrived as the leaves changed and Scamps demanded Charles Li to buy some cow cheese for some ungodly and frankly not-worth-seeking-further information on reason.

Charles Li generously gave us what we demanded, we had so many rock crafts from just a few months of production that we offered our king over 800* worth of them and still managed to buy an anvil, some animals, food and drink and about 25 pieces of cow cheese.

Not far behind the caravan, we spotted a group of migrants whil working on the second floor of the main building. They came over the mountains, a rag tag bunch but they may prove worthy of our home.

We took names and got track of everyone profession and surname, some chose to be called by nicknames.

If so, what resolution do you have it? I've been trying to find one that fits on a 1024×768 screen.
 
Yes, I decided to try it since everyone else is using it. I am using the default 1280x1024 I think. It gives me a massive window to play in and view things.

So what kind of wildlife is walking around? Anything dangerous? I've heard there are zombie racoons and stuff like that in this game, so I just want to know what to expect.

We are in a wilderness area, not an evil one, so the skeletal and zombie stuff isn't in this area. We do have dangerous wildlife like the occasional bear, deer and marmots.
