Legendary Earth Mod (LEM)

Thanks for the links to the screenshots, Shiggs! This looks amazing. I am definitaly getting this mod when I get Civ V. I don't think Christmas can get here soon enough! This is really good work, Dark Jedi! :goodjob:

Whoa Dark Jedi, some of these City States are quite what I'm looking for to fill up my City State Empires mod (see sig link)! If they have civilopedia entries, would you allow me to use some of them, giving you credit?

And in that case would it make any sense to associate Cahokia ethnically with the Iroquois civ?

Thanks!

Those are screenshots from Shigg's Earth map not mine, just to be clear. Just for you though I will be updating the first post with screenshots. :)

Only two Civilopedia entries are included right now (Aksum and Carthage), so feel free to use those. As I add more (I've been trying to fill out 1 or 2 with each release) you can use those too. :)

As to Cahokia, they're Illiniwek in my mod. As I understand it the Illinois Confederacy was separate from the Iroquois and they actually warred with eachother at one point of another.

Great mod mate, i was planning to do something similar for my personal use, but u did a great job. Turn 350 everything is great but:

1) CIV 5 Firaxis "frack you players" with Declare War bug, but you can avoid this by never making peace with them until u capture their capital.
2) I am planning a domination victory this time, can you explain what means Team 16, it looks a like a capital on the victory screen and it acts like one. I didn't bothered to enter the world editor yet.
3) You might consider if you have time, to make 2 versions. 1 normal like now and another reduce by 25-50% civ states and maybe some of the civs too, since on turn 350 plus, it takes 30sec a turn a on good computer. Not your fault, 2K Failz, but what can we do?

Cheers

For whatever reason, Japan is listed as being on "Team 16". I don't know what this means and haven't successfully removed it yet.

I'm taking all of your feedback into consideration for v4...currently working on tweaks and a good deal more playtesting.

As to issues with game crashes, I myself have played a multitude of games as many different civs and never encountered this problem. So far we have issues of the game freezing for Rome, Russia and the Ottomans and honestly I can't find a common thread between them.

For those that are having this issue, can you please post your system specs and also comment on whether or not this happens when playing an unmodded game.

Haven't had this strange error in unmodded Civ 5 Games yet. It occured twice on your map with the Ottomans, strangely enough at different times, but neither with the French nor the Persians, which I am playing right now.

Really enjoying this map since version 1...But, I was hoping you added Sicily in your latest version, as you said you revamped Europe. However, still no Sicily. Sicily is the largest and was one of, if not the most important strategic island in the Mediterranean. Please add Sicily, I understand it's difficult do to sizing and what not. But a Mediterranean Sea without Sicily just doesn't work. Thanks for all your work! Will give more feedback after more play-testing.

EDIT: What happen to Ireland? Why is it split into 2 islands, I hope that island which is the same size in the game isn't suppose to be the Isle of Man... You do know that Ireland is over 100x the size of the Isle of Man? Sorry for the criticism, but it is constructive :). I study geography regularly... I like the revamp of England and Scotland though, looking good.

It's Iceland...totally terrible placement but it's there to encourage the AI to settle it. The goal is to reconcile geography with playability. As for Sicily, it just doesn't fit...we'll see what happens down the line though.

First post has been updated with 10 screenshots, thanks to Baleur for the tip. :)

How about placing Iceland in it's natural spot with a Reykjavik city-state? Thinking mari-time due to their viking-settled nature.

Looks like a great map, can't wait to DL it! (waiting on my computer to get here via UPS)

I've considered that. :)

It seems that the AI Elizabeth will settle in Ireland but won't settle in Iceland, so placing Reykjavik might work...Elizabeth also seems to like allying with city-states so that would be a good bonus to give her exclusive access to a city-state.

I'm currently in the middle of a playthrough as Rome (the Punic Wars are about to begin, watch out Carthage!)...I would expect to have v4 up early next week. :)

Only can download v3 but your screen shots v4?? Are we supposed to be able to get v4?

First of all: GREAT MAP! Was rather disappointed with the in-game earth map that came with the package (especially that mashed, deformed lump called Europe, uuuh...) and been waiting for someone to make a proper world map, and here it is!

However, I experienced some issues similiar to those already reported here. Played as the english and between turn 142 and 143 the game crashed. This occured repeatedly as I loaded the last savefile, so it seems to be a systematic error. Sort of a bummer since I really enjoyed my little maritime island empire.

Hope you can sort it out, will follow your progress on this map with great enthusiasm! (Will attach the savefile if its of some use)

I just wanted to briefly mention that I also had a crash as the Arabs but have never had a problem with the unmodded version of Civ 5 so far. I am a bit too pressed to post the save file or system specs, so please forgive me but I just wanted to support what others have said and point out that I have run into similar trouble.

However, the map is fantastic and I am grateful that you are putting so much effort into it :goodjob:!

The crashing/freezing problem remains an enigma to me. To those that have had this issue is it persistent? Mean, does it happen at some point every time you play the map?

My playthrough as Rome has gotten heated (I upped the difficulty level from Prince to King to see how that affected things, certainly makes the game more fun). Carthage was a pushover and their allies in Persia were too far away to help...I proceeded to colonize the whole of the north African coast and had my legions/ballistas carve a swathe of destruction down the length of the Nile, decimating Egypt. I then swung back North and landed an amphibious assault of Greece, taking Athens and Sparta without much trouble (the Greeks had been brutalized the whole game).

With my conquests secure, I settled down to start building up my new cities and vamping up my culture to start nabbing important social policies (all but two of my cities are coastal, Merchant Navy anyone?). However, my dreams were shattered when the Russians swept out of the East en masse, steamrolling the Germans and proceeding to declare war on me, Napoleon and Suleiman all in one turn; I've never seen so many Trebuchets and Longswordsman, not to mention Musketmen! (Catherine made a beeline for military techs while I stayed back to mop up cultural/commercial ones). Talk about the fight of my life, I had largely ignored my European borders considering my friendships with Napoleon and Bismarck.

I took up some key positions at chokepoints, taking advantage of my highly trained army that had gained a boatload of experience fighting in Egypt. I even managed to break her lines and raze one of the German cities she had captured. After decades of warfare she finally agreed to peace realizing she had been tactically outmaneuvered; not to mention I had caught up to her in military techs and was now fielding my own Longswordsman. But all the while Catherine had convinced Elizabeth to get involved against the French, and despite my best efforts to help the British swarmed across the English Channel and conquered Paris and Amsterdam. Where I was once surrounded by friends, now only enemies stalk my borders. I plan to take advantage of my peace with Russia to kick the British out of mainland Europe, liberating Paris and Amsterdam in the process (I desperately want the Dutch's culture).

My point with these idle ramblings: I'm having a great deal of fun with my map and I sincerely hope you are too. :)

It isn't, at least not with all civilizations. I just finished another game, this time with Germany and it worked just fine.

I just checked out the screenshots on the first page. Those look amazing! Thanks for adding them! I'm really looking forward to getting Civ V in a couple of months. This will definatly be the first mod I download.

So my last game ended in a concession to Mother Russia. After successfully liberating Paris and Amsterdam, Catherine seized on my armies being away from the front and once again invaded while simultaneously Siamese soldiers (we were at war?!) crossed the Red Sea and swept into Egypt. Unable to fight a two fronted war on two separate continents, I had to concede.

The lesson: Russia needed to be toned down a bit, so I took away some of their iron resources (Catherine had sooo many trebuchets).

So I started up the next game and decided to play as England (on King difficulty again) mainly so I could see how the world would develop absent of my influence. Well Europe turned into an absolute mess, so after building a maritime empire focusing on gold and culture, I decided to get involved. :)

Right when longbows are all the rage I begin my invasion by taking Oslo, with Helsinki and Amsterdam fighting at my side. I then proceeded to declare war on Catherine and liberate two cities she had taken from Germany to restore the proper balance of power. :p However, Napoleon thought himself brash and decided to take advantage while my back was turned...well what a foolish mistake! Having no desire to take any of his cities, I simply paved the way for the Dutch Empire. The result:

I spoke to Askia and saw that he had over 6000 gold and was making over 200 per turn, so I decided to look at the rest of the world...

The bad news: Songhai needs a serious nerf that I'm not sure how to implement. More city-states might help but he seems wont to conquer them...not to mention despite preventing expansion they're a serious boon as allies.

The good: Japan owned China.

Comments or suggestions welcome. :)

What you'd need is a rival to Songhai's domination of Africa. The Zulu maybe :D

Also, why is there no one in the Americas?
