Yes, and the utter ignorance of the world not knowing that a typical English Saxon family of 6 used about 1/2lb honey per day!

lol. And Hollywood strikes again! I guess I'd have to turn to minor local issues to show what New Jersians know about the U.S. that Europeans don't! ;) Ah, this is my favorite thread of all time.
 
let me say that calculating the area of a square is not a very complicated mathematic task...
I remeber that "your" teens where good in more practical areas whereas in geography, history and biology they were misearable... we know about English geography and history the same, but they knew nothing about ours... (Yes I know, Poland and East Europe is not a important region :)
maybe that changes during the higher education, but the midlevel was a disaster

that's it, i was holding back my flame, but this is called for:

NO ONE OUTSIDE OF POLAND CARES ABOUT THE GEOGRAPHY OR HISTORY OF POLAND. (barring those with Polish backgrounds)

If people are interested in these subjects outside of Poland, they will have to do the research on their own. JUST LIKE EVERY OTHER COUNTRY IN THE WORLD. We don't learn about Czech history/geography, nor Nigerian, nor Iraqi, nor Mongolian, or really Russian. To find out about these things, we must research on our own. Why do you think Poland is different. Damn, dude, get over yourself.

I can whole-heartedly concur that Polish history, geography and culture was totally absent from my high school education.

How much do Polish people kids learn about Burkina Faso?

As for maths, I am terrible.... but I think that Britain has more than an adequate number of world class mathematicians http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:British_mathematicians


If there was any area of British education I would most definitely criticise, it is Languages. All other areas (especially science!!) are taught to a very high level compared to most countries in the world.
 
According to me I could not care less regarding both America and Poland. America is in the game solely because they participated in a war during the early 40s (and won). Poland would never be in civ, being divided a couple of times (was it three) is probably not a very good argument. At least we swedes massacred alot of people on the continent when we was a great power. If you look at it, it seems to be a valid argument.
 
Well, America is also spreading like a virus throughout worldwide economics and our culture is even trying to eek its way everywhere it can. (Read my above posts) I'm no flag-waver or nationalist, but it isn't just because we helped win WWII (besides the Russians played as big a part if not much larger in winning that war)

EDIT: Granted, the only reason our culture/economics are able to attempt this grandiose imperialism is because of our role in the war, but that's not why in the game
 
Humm maybe we can explain why poland people wants to be in civIV so bad .. it could be because they have a lack of identity and they don't feel fully recognize by the world.. It could be explained by the past event WWII for example, like a mass psychologic trauma. My best answer : Go see a psychologist, it could help you .. it exists group psychologist too .. more effective but more violent for the mind.

but do you have to finish 5 year studies on Polish geography to know that capital of Poland is Warsaw? It is obvious. It is elementary. Every educated person should know it (the same as capital of France, USA, Serbia, Thailand and Australia). But those damn ignorants dont know it. And those ignorants are jugding wheather history of a country is enough emportatnt to put it to civ or not!!!

If a pereson knows only history of US, UK or France he will think that only US, UK or France was a true empire!!!

There's a reason fun facts about Poland isn't taught much outside of Poland, and it's about the same reason for why it's isn't a playable civ in Civ4.
 
Just telling that I will be gone for a while. I'm going to play Civ. I'm playing Korea, and guess what, it's not the real Korea, it is only a concept in a game and I will continue my everending war with the Vikings and again, it's not the real Vikings (pretty sure of that, since I don't live in a mythic world), it is only a concept in a game to.

Look, pall, I've known the capital of Poland since grade school... even tho it has no bearing on much until learning of WWII (high school).

I'm done with this thread. It has been reduced to flaming as represented by bombel1979's comments. Methos has it right, I'm out. See you on other threads REDRALPHWIGGUM and SPEARTHROWER.
 
no, spearthrower, I didn't say that, I only want to underline the fact that some people are deliberating about topics that they hve no knowlegde... about topics they even didn't hearabout, but THEY HAVE TO SAY SOMETHIG... so they are saying rubbish, nonsense...

this topic was set up by the moderator to discuss "Polish thing" but most of the participents of the disscussion have no or little knowlegde about Poland. So what they are talking about?
