Let's Play! Beyond the Sword

Yep, 30 turns of whatever the hell you want to do !

125 a.d. turn 120

Professing the same type of literary skills one would expect from the Khan bloodline our new leader takes over. Our first order of business will be to ensure those shiny gems stay ours. Hence, two Mongol riders are issued new orders. “Leave the village of Apache and head north to the land of glistening stones.” While they appear to be enthralled with the newly acquired Sumerian lands the Mongol citizens yearn for a mood enhancer.

150 a.d. turn 121

A book repository is erected in Kish in a decision that costs a few Mongol lives.

175 a.d. turn 122

Word spreads to Karakorum that a new faith has been established in far away lands. In more local news, the barb galley harassing the great city of Karakorum begins to settle on the ocean floor.

200 a.d.turn 123

Brought on by earlier fair dealings the Ottoman leader returns asking a favor from the leader of the Mongol horde. The bond between these two great nations grows as a bargain is struck.

Civ4ScreenShot0001.jpg

In a nationwide breakthrough bartering has been made obsolete with the advent of some new-fangled coins.

Civ4ScreenShot0003.jpg

250 a.d. turn 125

In a surprising development the previously decimated Sumerians have launched an offensive attack against the Koreans. In a not-so surprising development our fearless leader errs in his recording of events. (In other words started playing instead of jotting notes)

275 a.d. turn 126

Uruk gets smacked by the slavery event.

Spoiler :
Civ4ScreenShot0004.jpg

450 a.d. turn 133

The Ottomans and Mongols swap knowledge allowing the Mongol warriors to forge sword made of iron.

Civ4ScreenShot0005.jpg

500 a.d. turn 135

The Koreans, perhaps envious of the friendship blossoming between their northern neighbors and the Mongols, call on the Mongols hoping to trade. Their trip has been for naught.

Civ4ScreenShot0007.jpg

Realizing that to eliminate the Sumerians would provide the horde with many resources and vast amounts of land the Mongols become trained in the use of brick and mortar. Next up is a some contraption that hurls stones.

Civ4ScreenShot0008.jpg

660 a.d. turn 143

The Ottomans return to the yurt of the Mongol leader. Putting their friendship to the test Mongol knowledge of currency is given to the Ottomans.

Civ4ScreenShot0009.jpg

Sadly, the Mongol history dating from 275 a.d. to present (800 a.d.) is sketchy at best.

What we do know now is that the Mongol horde has recently acquired a new Sumerian city and has catapults rolling toward another.

Imperialism, are you still in?

I PMed him/her so we may know soon. Though last activity was a while back so may have pulled out.

It's been four days already. I'm going to play through my 30 turns tomorrow.

Okey doke, alrightey then, we'll leave it at that (google apres match videos).

I have waited for this day for a long time. It's an interesting feeling, being in charge of a whole nation. It's strange, yet, somehow familiar. I have come in in the middle of a war against the Sumerians. Our history has so far been shaped by war, and I shall continue this tradition. I shall try to capture the rest of the Sumerian cities, as they hold valuable resources. Mongolia shall rise!

Turn 150. I have sent axemen to protect our supply of gems, as it is dangerously close to the enemy.

Turn 152. We have destroyed the barbarian galley which has bothered our shores for so very long. I have also sent axemen to examine the barbarian city of Apache.

Turn 153. Wang Kon has given us Meditation as tribute. He fears us, as he should.

Turn 154. The Sumerians have attacked Uruk. They lost the battle, but they have weakened our defenses. I have sent more troops to defend it. Ur has been pacified.

LetsPlay1-1.jpg

Turn 155. The Sumerians captured Uruk, but the troops I had sent captured it back almost immediately. Gilgamesh's foolish actions have cost him the large stack he had waiting near my city. In the midst of this whole ordeal, a great general by the name of Patton had been born. I asked him to become a military instructor.

Turn 156. The Koreans have captured Apache. We have lost our potential city, and with it the potential iron that could've been mined nearby. I am not very pleased with Wang Kon.

LetsPlay2-1.jpg

Turn 160. Mehmed II has declared war on me. This doesn't really matter, as he is so far away. Mehmed II is supposed to be the greatest leader in the world, but he seems like a fool to me. I have started attacking Eridu.

Turn 163. We have captured Eridu. We now have access to more of the gems near Uruk and soon, once Eridu is pacified, we'll have access to iron.

LetsPlay3-1.jpg

Turn 167. In an attempt to not completely stagnate our scientific progress, I have traded knowledge of the recently discovered technology called "Aesthetics" with Wang Kon for two new technologies, called "Priesthood" and "Polytheism".

Turn 168. Eridu has been pacified (I must say right now that these are some really terrible names for cities. "Eridu", "Nibru", "Ur" etc.). We now have access to iron. Hopefully, this will help us crush our friend Gilgamesh.

Turn 169. Gilgamesh has destroyed my galley. He shall pay for this, with the city of Lagash.

Turn 170. I have traded the knowledge of Horseback riding with Wang Kon for Monarchy. I have now crowned myself king, making our glorious nation the Mongolian Kingdom!

LetsPlay4-1.jpg

Turn 171. We have captured Lagash. We now have access to all of the gems near Uruk, the ones my ancestors dreamed of. I only have one Sumerian city still to capture: Nibru.

Turn 177. A Korean revolt has taken place in Lagash. I'm getting angry with this Wang Kon fellow. I would love to see his nation wiped off the map, but I'm getting too old.

Turn 179. The people of Nibru have started attacking. With their last ounce of strength, the Sumerians are trying to take me down. It's quite sad really, how they think they still have a chance. Their once great empire is now a pathetic city about to be engulfed by the mighty Mongolian Kingdom.

LetsPlay5-1.jpg

They wont survive for long. They're a pathetic, dieing mess. It wont be long before they're gone.

Turn 180. The first king of Mongolia is dead.

I'll give forty-two a few days to pick this up, if I don't hear by Saturday morning GMT I'll take it.

Ok I'm posting my got it a bit late, but I've been busy testing the SGOTM start (sorry). I'll play tomorrow and post.

:gripe:It's going to be a quick report from me, but I have a few questions to ask:
1) Where was the micro?
2) What was the idea behind going for a classical tech we had no use for, before CoL?
3) What was with the :smoke: Keshik promos (only 1 promoted down withdraw line {and in back lines}, an anti-siege promo?) and the fact we were pumping out unpromoted ones?
4) We should have gotten out of the war much earlier, our empire was very backwards at the start, and it was only a lucky Philo gamble which allowed me to catch up somewhat.
5) Espionage, 4 spies in back line, all espionage to a dead Giggles ??????:gripe:

OK rant over on to the set:
Turn 180
Swap wall out for Archer in Beshbalik, move in for the kill at Nibru.

IT Nebuchadnezzar beats Keshik at Ur but redlines.

Turn 181
Keshik attacks Nebu and wins perfect.
I only bombard Nibru. Odds are too bad (see what I mean about withdraw?)
Whip the archer in beshbalik (mainly for happiness WW is high)
Whip the Cat in Ning-Hsia
Realise that we're researching MC :nono:, we need money so switch to CoL and hire scientists in the few cities that can. Teching is really bad this late in the game.

Turn 182
Eridu Barracks>Market (money)
More barrage of Nibru.
Here I realise the weed in the non-promoted Keshiks.

Turn 183
Suicide all 3 cats.
Suicide 2 Keshiks, 2 withdraw, 2 win giving us:
Nibrufalls.jpg

I raze it, we cannot afford another city right now, and anyway SW of the rice is better.
I whip the cata in Kish.
I open borders with WK (why closed?)

Turn 184
Ning Catapult>LH (should have finished the cata after whip but I ctrl-clicked the LH)
Karakorum whips Archer>Settler

Turn 185
Turfan Keshik>Worker
Fire the merchant in Eridu and hire scientists.

Turn 186
Ning-Hsia LH>worker>Maoi
Ur Keshik>Library.

Turn 187
GSci in Karakorum (at~33% odds) I golden age him as was the best use (I hate that on scientists but...)
I trade in seperate deals Crab for Silk, Wheat for Wine (2 health for 2 happy!) from Wang Kong.

Turn 188
Karakorum Settler>Galley>WB>Galley (last galley was a mistake by auto cue on BULL mod).
Uruk Market>Library.
Ur gets a bit of:
Vermin.jpg

Turn 189
CoL>Philosophy (luckily neither AI researches first)
I Gage revolt to cast system. I hire 4 scientists in both Uruk and Beshbalik.

Turn 190
Turfan Worker>Courthouse
Kish Worker>Courthouse
Uruk Library>Courthouse

Turn 191
Old Sarai is founded by the silver west of Southern Korean colony. Starts granary

Turn 192
Nubian Market>Lighthouse (needs growth, CS irrigation will be akward)

Turn 193
Took peace from Mehmet for 300g, first time he'd settle for less than Eridu (well no on that).
Sold him bananas for 9g

Turn 194
Back to binary research

Turn 195
Uruk Courthouse> lighthouse
Nubian Lighthouse>Courthouse

Turn 196
Ur Library>Courthouse
Gift dyes to Mehmet (attempt to get on decent side, both him an WK are WHEEOHRN, but thats resolved later)

Turn 197
Karakorum Galley>Emphasise science (check on that, there are some new builds available)

Turn 198
Turfan Courthouse>Market.

Turnset continued (for fear of going over space)
Turn 199
Kish Courthouse>Market
Beshbalik Walls>Courthouse (forgot about the walls, but there were sig hammers in them)
Eridu Market>Library

Turn 200
Lagash revolts to Korea (didn't really care, but there must have been a revolt in a previous turnset as this was the first on mine)

Turn 201
Philo> Civil service

Turn 202
Nubian Courthouse>Ger

Turn 203
Wang Kon comes looking for Philo in return for Feudalism and 100g (thought I had the screenie but never took). I say yes we need the tech and money, and that was all he'd give.
I hold off on Mehmet trade for now, WK is hi worst enemy and the trade wasn't too attractive.
Eridu is:
Flooding.jpg

We lost walls (don't bother) and CH (:cry::mad:)

Turn 204
Civil Service>Paper (IIRC)
Do a deal with Mehmet:
Philo2.jpg

Really helps our tech.
Deficit science @60% (just not quite enough in bank for paper at this rate)
Urul Barracks>Ger
Revolt to OR (for builds)

Turn 208
Wang Kon cancels the deals. I renegotiate a Gems for silk and give Mehmet Wheat for wine instead.

Turn 209
War-1.jpg

Turn 210
A great scientist is waiting in Uruk, for the life of you don't use until Paper is in, then bulb Edu.
Science 30%

Advice:
War between Mehmet and WK:
Be like Stalin was to the Poles in 1939, with WK.
We have 4 spies in Eridu and Uruk, use them if possible for revolts in case of war.

Cities:
If no war put FP in UR.
If war put capital in Eridu and FP in Beshbalik (assuming we take some of Koreas core).

Tech:
Race to Lib, bulb edu, try and sell paper, go deficit as much as possible, seize opportunities to hire scientists.

Dont mean to criticise but with no religion OR is absolutlely useless. Also why not revolt to Bureaucracy??

Have got the save but wont have the time to take this till Weds probably.

D'oh, thought we were in religion, and after all my complaining too. On the no switch to Beauro, Karakorum isn't a great Beauro capital, but if we switch the cap then it would be a good swap.

1) Where was the micro?
2) What was the idea behind going for a classical tech we had no use for, before Code of Laws?
3) What was with the Keshik promos (only 1 promoted down withdraw line {and in back lines}, an anti-siege promo?) and the fact we were pumping out unpromoted ones?

6) I have a small penis and I compensate for it by complaining on the internet.

Well, I don't see why you're complaining to a dead king. If you think what the previous ruler did was wrong, you have the chance to correct it yourself when you get on the throne.

Also, that bit about you having a small penis was really inappropriate and unnecessary.

Hey I compensate for that by buying lots of magazines about big weapons.

Anyway, I think Brian has talked enough of his penis for now. Mighty Dwaarf, it is your turn.

EDIT: To play the game. Don't get any ideas.
