Leugi's 2D Leaderscene Collage Hints

What are the remaining flaws?

Also made another one with a different background:

Hi,

I made the following leaderscene using this guide. It's not perfect, but I think it turned out pretty well.

It's Pasquale Paoli - leader of the short-lived Corsican Republic, which is a civ I'm working on.

Please tell me what you think :)

Btw, just thought I should mention this - I started using photoshop like three days ago and haven´t used GIMP or anything like it before - so don´t judge too hard ;)

@COF and regalman: first, sorry, just saw that post now!

Ok, both backgrounds could work, though the second one has a truly odd perspective, you should try to change that.

The biggest issue with Valuk himself is that some parts are blurrier than others, and overall, it feels as if each part had its own light, losing cohesion. Try making everything have the same shading, and it should look nicer. :D

@Danmacsh: Pasquale himself is nice, perhaps the clothes look a bit plastic (mostly because of the light), but its nice enough.

I would probably move him a bit more to the right, so it doesn't feel too empty.

The background is nice, though it would be better if you desaturated it a bit.

Anyway, great work both of you! :goodjob:

Okay, thanks, I'll try desaturating the background tomorrow. But for the light, I'm having some difficulties with that - it doesn't really help anything just tweaking contrast and brightness, and it seems everything else try, just makes it way worse. Any advice? :D

I don't know if this is the right place to ask this, but I'm having some trouble getting the leaderscene posted before to actually appear in-game. I'm just getting a black screen. The file is saved as a dds file in photoshop with the DXT5 setting, 2d texture and with no MIP maps. Is there anything I'm forgetting?

Again, sorry if this is not the right place to ask questions like this, since it's not really related to the creation of the leaderscene. If this is the case, just answer in this thread.

Hey, thanks for the really helpful tutorial. I've taken a shot at it for my first leader, Tu'itatui of the Tongan Empire, but since there are no drawings of him, it was an improv. If I can improve it I'd love to know how, I struggled with making the background work.
