But the benefits are outweighing the consequences, as the population has boomed from better farming.
As the Hyperboreans continue expanding to the south, the natives are becoming fiercer and fiercer. Acts to strike fear into them, such as feeding clan leaders to horrors, have solidified the belief that the Hyperboreans are the ultimate evil. The natives have developed a primitive form of magic, which they are using to strengthen their warriors. Many battles have been fought, with both sides taking heavy losses. But the Hyperboreans never could have suspected the plan the natives had. After retreating from one battle, several native sorcerers were captured. Sacraficing themselves, they released the bonds keeping two horrors captive. The horrors caused great damage to the Hyperborean army before they were defeated. One was killed while the other, a great beast that seemed to consist of only jaws and tentacles, escaped. Its whereabouts are still unknown.

Bent on vengeance, the warlord drafted half of the surviving men into his army and marched to retake occupied western Scythia. A vicious battle took place.
