If you have a list of games you enjoy, please post.

I know that my list makes me look like a kiddy-gamer (not much violence, and no FPS), but I take them seriously. I made this list for a friend of mine, so if some descriptions seem obvious, please excuse me. And even though they look like non-hardcore games, some of the system requirements can be pretty harsh.

Spoiler :
Sid Meier's Civilization -- We all know this.

SimCity -- I think we all know this.

Other SimGames -- I don't like the Sims. The "SimGames," however, most of them are decent. All older ones. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Sim_games

"Tycoon" games -- e.g. Roller Coaster Tycoon, Transport Tycoon Deluxe, Zoo Tycoon, and a few others I can't remember at the time.

Horse Games -- I'll try nearly any one (except for the "Barbie" ones or ones obviously for little kids), but found some excellent ones made by a French company called Lexis Numberique.

CivCity Rome -- Combination of Civilization & SimCity set in ancient Rome.

Sid Meier's Railroads! -- It's a modernized version of Railroad Tycoon. It's not the best, but I like playing in the free mode and watch all the trains running around.

Safari Photo Africa -- This one's pretty neat. It's set in first-person, but instead of shooting guns, you shoot photos of animals. The animals will actually react to you (I once had a crocodile attack me cos I got too close to the babies. It was so realistic I screamed.)

Wildlife Zoo -- This is like Zoo Tycoon, except different. It's in 3D, like Zoo Tycoon 2, but it's good graphics, not really cartoonish. It's extremely realistic and you can play in free mode. I recommend getting the deluxe edition, it's got more animals and stuff.

Petz -- More of a "software toy" than a real game, but it's fun to see all the dogs and cats running around the screen.

The Oregon Trail Deluxe -- A kiddy game made for DOS. Very easy (except maybe the arcade games), so I try to see how quickly I can kill everyone off.

Other DOS games -- Crummy graphics, but they can get addictive!!!

Left 4 Dead

Half Life 2 + Episodes 1 & 2
Portal
Team Fortress 2

age of wonders: shadow magic

ill add some more later

Europa Universalis III
Rome Total War
Medieval 2 Total War
Mount & Blade

Democracy
Hearts of Iron 2
Trophy Hunter( my favorite of all the deer hunter that I played)
Command and Conquer
Age of Empire

Civilization (Obviously) IV w/ BTS

Hero's of Might and Magic. My personal favorites are two and three. I've spent way too many hours playing it, even when I sucked.

Warcraft 2/3: Both great games, paticularly the third. Awesome campagins, in both the origional and Frozen throne. The people on B-NET mostly suck, but their are some great games floating around.

EUIII: Most in depth strategy game I've played. If it had a more sophisticated AI, it would probably be my favourite.

X-box Games

Halo 3: I'm pretty sure we all know what Halo is. I've heard people call it terrible, I've heard people who practically pray to it every night. I personally enjoy it when I need to burn off alot of energy when it's -30 plus wind chill ourside. (The energy loss comes from me screaming at the TV)

Sid Meier's Pirates: For the orgional X-Box, a wonderful game when you just feel like trashing some ships or sacking a city. Not for the intense gamer of any Genre, except maybe action lovers.

morrowind/life

PC games:
Rome Total War
Medieval II Total War
Civilization III w/ Conquests expansion
Sid Meier's Pirates
Battlefield 2
Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind

Console games (some are also released on PC)
Battlefield: Bad Company
Halo 3
Guitar Hero (up to Aerosmith, world tour is dissapointing)
Rock Band (all of them)
Mirror's Edge
Call of Duty 4
Fallout 3

that's all for now....

EVERYTHING by Firaxis(ON ANY PLATFORM), Burnout Paradise(PS3) Little Big Planet(PS3).Railroad Tycoon 2 (PS1).

Pretty much everything by:

Valve (Half-Life series, TF2, L4D, Counter-Strike, Portal, etc.)
Blizzard (Diablo, Starcraft, and Warcraft. Who can argue against that?)
Paradox Interactive (Hearts of Iron 2, although much praise has been given to Victoria and EUIII)
Firaxis (Civilization series, obviously)

I also enjoyed Act of War: Direct Action, the Call of Duty series, and the Simcity series.

Oh, and SWAT 4.

A short list off the top of my head.

All of the titles in the "Tales of" series, particularly Abyss, Phantasia and Symphonia.
Any adventure game made by Lucasfilm Games/Lucasarts (Starting from Maniac Mansion).
Valkyria Chronicles.
Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen.
Most of the titles in the Final Fantasy series.
Baldur's Gate I & II + expansions.
Pretty much every title made by Paradox (be it Victoria, Crusader Kings, Europa Universalis or Hearts of Iron series...).
Warcraft I, II & III + expansions.
5 Days a Stranger as well as 7 Days a Skeptic.
The Fallout series, you can safely ignore everything else in this series but I, II & III; and III as well depending on ones tastes.
Nethack.
UnReal World.
Wasteland.

Still liking Civ4:BTS with mods
The Orange Box (with all the HL2 mods as well).

Honorable mention to:
GalCiv2, but it needs more mods
Left 4 Dead but it needs more campaigns or better gunplay (like Rainbow Six)..

Those are my only 'timeless' games.

When thinking of a list, I seemed to only come up with series of games:

Sonic the Hedgehog games for MegaDrive/Genesis.
Half-Life series.
Total War series.
Age of Empires series.
X-Wing series.
Paradox...erm, games.
Civilization series.

That out of the way, a few more unique games:

Outcast - Wonderful story and gameplay, it's the B-Movie for video games.
Day of the Tentacle - My first point-and-click, and no other game of the genre has come close to the brilliance of this game.
Skies of Arcadia - Already mentioned, but has to be seconded. Just a wonderful RPG that simply outdoes itself as the story unfolds.
Super Mario Bros. 3 - Wuv!
