VLC media player can also do that, and it plays the media files as well.

OK, so what I did, I didn't think it would work but it did. But I just downloaded VLC Portable to my school network drive. I thought that EXEs on network drives were blocked from launching but apparently not.

Very simple: Is there an online tool/downloadable free program that will give you a random (REALISTIC) surname? Just the surname. Extra points if you can choose options (e.g. ethnic)
Only thing I found is this and one, I don't know how to use it, and two, the examples aren't exactly... err, you get the point. The other ones I found were broken links.
Closest thing I could find to what I want is this but both first names and last names. For my purposes I need just the last names and it gets distracting.
Or even some sort of code that will take random ones from a census?

EDIT: Found one, but its shareware and it tried to force me to enter my email before I could exit. I killed the process and uninstalled.

It's not a program, but I thought this might help anyway...

Go here:
http://www.census.gov/genealogy/names/dist.all.last

each surname is numbered, so you could use a random number generator to randomly select one... I don't know how to get one by ethnicity, I might look some more after my business classes this afternoon.

Thanks.

If there was some way to create a script for a generator I could possibly feed the list into it.

Wanted to post some new stuff.

BioPDF is free for personal use. Allows superimposing print to PDF on existing PDF. Please pay for licenses for business purposes.

MacroMania is free for personal use. One of the most user-friendly macro creators I've found. Easy to Learn Language and includes general interface commands in addition to application specific. Please pay $49.95USD for license for non-personal use.

I found Get Files which can batch-download files. Ugly interface and bad english but it works well.

I also use DownThemAll but it didn't quite work for this case.

Found this joke program, CounterCounseling where you chat with an AI. I'd post some of my logs but I'd probably get permabanned for triggering the autocensor (short temper!).

Edit: OK, here's one. Note that the older ones are at the bottom:

>If you're just a computer!, what else must be true?

>Because you're just a computer!

I know the Gimp has been posted to death (pretty much everywhere on the net, if you don't know about it, welcome to the internet) but I just stumbled across GimPhoto. I remember a "Gimpshop" around a while ago, but I don't know if it's still being updated. GimPhoto looks pretty similar to it...

But it's just Gimp made to look and handle more like Adobe Photoshop.

Does anybody know anything about AVStoDVD? All I know is that it's a program for turning videos into DVDs and it's open-source (cause it's on SourceForge.)

I found a Firefox addon which deletes dead and duplicate bookmarks. Still in experimental but I have no problems so far.

CheckPlaces

EDIT: OK, it can be a little slow when you have huge amounts of bookmarks ()

Is there Firefox addon that lets you play audio files directly in Firefox? There's one with QuickTime but I don't like QuickTime. I tried some VLC Media Player addon but it didn't work.

Our you talking about playing audio from a website? When I googled it I get information about how to get firefox to play music embedded in a web page. I found several pages simply googling 'play audio files in firefox'.

For those of us who cannot understand blender, here is a good 3D design program
There is a free version that can export to blender, and an expensive version.

Sketchup is great, no question about that. My dad uses it all the time for making 3d models of stuff he's making. Blender on the other hand, has a ton more features. You should try watching their tutorials, they're very useful.

I tried a Blender tutorial and the only thing I made was a blob (I think I was supposed to be making a person). It's past my understanding.

Then you didnt try hard enough. You have the entire internet to find a good blender tutorial. Hell, I believe there are even books now.
