Yeah I'll be mad as well... I think the leak and the calm before this was a mad scramble to create the hype promo, hence the copy paste city at the bottom. I'm crossing my fingers for some BIG things!

Yup really hoping we get a trailer at the end of this. It's a great bold move, hopefully it's the start of something that'll allow us to guess about new features and civs for a bit
Something tells me this new "whatever it is" will impact all aspects of the map based play style as well as every era.

I had a good night's sleep while you guys waited. Absolutely perfect : P So, it's been going on for 12 hours now? Damn... To those talking about clever marketing. I was very excited the first hour of the Stream, but that has died down substantially. I don't really mind getting on with my day, and just seeing the news after it hits sometime later. I don't know if that's the intention of the marketing team?

Everyone is interested, it certainly isn't bad marketing. First thing I did this morning was check in on the clouds! I think it's both exciting and fun.

You can't just say 'Everyone is interested' when there already have been people saying they've either lost interest or losing interest ; ) I'm still interested, just not as much as I was before. Personally, I think they would have given me a better feeling about whatever it is they will announce, if they stopped the wait after about two hours. But, that's me.
The first hours they tantalised me, now it feels like a waiting game. I am not really a person that waits, instead I spend time doing other things, and let the thing that expects me to wait come to me. So, whenever I have nothing else to do I might check in, otherwise I'll see it when I see it. And this, I think, is not the purpose of marketing.

Do you really think their intention is for you to watch the entire stream? I don't think so, more likely their intention is to pique your interest, which they have done successfully, unless you intend to avoid the announcement when it comes. I would wager there isn't a single person who will avoid the announcement because they've lost interest.
The fact that the wait might frustrate people is a little irrelevant. Are you aware that something is coming? Yes. Will you find out what it is? Yes. Are you likely to check here or the stream at some point during the day? Probably.
I'm not saying it is the greatest campaign ever but it definitely isn't bad, it works. Whether it works any more than a simple rolling wheel tweet is another question entirely, I guess only marketing experts with access to the right data would be able to tell you.
OF course, CivFanatics is hardly a useful proving ground for successful marketing campaigns since we get excited over every tiny update to steamdb...
