Live stream "The Tech Web: Midgame Choices" Thursday, Sept 18 at 2pm EST

I still have a small sliver of hope that only one warpgate can be built (I mean, it's called a planetary wonder after all!) and all the purity and supremacy factions have to race to build it and then fight over it.
I think the very reason why there is a separate Emancipation Gate and Exodus Gate (instead of just a Warp Gate) is exactly so that both Purity and Supremacy factions can have one at the same time.

What about two Supremacy factions? What if one builds the Emancipation Gate first? The other has to fight to take it?

Stay tuned for a very special announcement :goodjob:
Oh goody! Can we guess?
1. Beyond Earth is so perfect that they're releasing it early. Like Friday, September 19th.
2. They're secretly been working on CIV 6, which is due for release on April 1, 2015.
3. Sid Meier has adopted MadDjinn and named him his sole heir.
Am I close? :D

Sad. Hoping it'd be more distinct though. There are so many examples of "gates" in sci-fi and fantasy they could draw from.

I'm thinking Stargates from SGU and Warp Gates from Starcraft. XD

The gates in BE remind me of the machine in the film "contact" where a magnetic interference thingy at the center of a big machine opened a small stable wormhole to swallow objects whole. I always thought flat gates where objects had to travel through a horizion to be bad for living objects. Imho stargates would work very badly. I do like the graphics they used a lot. Maybe the arriving wormhole (on the recieving end) just has another visual spectrum than the departing one.

Well, it's not that the current one is bad or anything (looks cool IMO); just wondering why they didn't go for two distinct looks.

you can always guess!

and two of those are incorrect. The third might be also, but we haven't heard about it yet. :mischief:

Bam, 1 and 3 are false. And the status of Civ6 remains a mystery.

Looking forward to today's livestream!

I don't know, the warp gate is similar both for purity and supremacy but I think it's more than the yellow in the middle. The arms of the gate also look like they are textured differently.

1. Best we can hope for is an Open Beta/Gamma but I doubt it.
2. Doubt it also but hopefully sometime soon they'll say
3. Got no idea.

No, 1 & 2 are false and they're still hammering out the details on the adoption paperwork.

They almost certainly working on Civ 6, and I predict it will come out October 2015, pretty much exactly five years after Civ V. I am also certain that they won't announce Civ 6 until spring 2015.
Maybe a new X-Com ?

Could the surprise announcement be the addition of a 9th faction: The Greater Scottish Empire?!?!

Probably not.

I love that music. Could work perfectly as an intro for a nineties SF show like Babylon 5.

CivBE definitely has some of the best game music that I've heard. It sounds like it will create a great atmosphere when playing.
