LK100 - Finally ready for regent, Persia, OPEN succession game

Well it sounds like the tech research is almost done. Time to get the Immortals into play!

Turn 0: MM slightly. :Smoke: Arbela (size 2) growing in 4, settler due in 2, changed to Immortal. Sci reduced to allow money for upgrades. Tyres position will eventually cause conflict with the Celts but then that’s what this game is for isn’t it?

IT: Celts move 2 warriors by Bactra from opposite directions. Sneak attack no doubt. I expected Tyre to cause conflict but not this soon.

Turn 1: Poly and 12gpt to Celts for Construction. Poly? To Summeria for 39g (for upgrades). Swap barracks as Bactra to spear. Lux to 10% for Persepolis.

IT: 1 Celt warrior attacks Bactra and loses. Mongols boot us from their territory.

Turn 2: Bactra spear to barracks, Arbela Immortal to Immortal, Pasargadae Immortal to Immortal. Upgrade Palace. Upgrade 1 warrior.

Turn 3: Gordium cat to settler. Summerians start Pyramids. Immortal kills warrior. GA STARTS.

MWSnap_2005-04-23,_01_21_14.jpg

Turn 4: upgrade 1 warrior

Turn 5: Celt archer kills Immortal

Turn 6: Pasargadae Immortal to Immortal, Antioch barracks to worker, Arbela Immortal to Immortal. Upgrade warrior. Immortal kills warrior.

Turn 7: Gordium settler to temple (for culture) Sidon worker to barracks. Upgrade warrior.

Turn 8: Nothing

Turn 9: Pasargadae Immortal to Immortal. Mongols acquire code of laws. Immortal kills warrior. Immortal kills archer.

Turn 10: Arbela Immortal to Immortal. Hittites acquire code of laws as well. No trading done yet.

Not much done in the celt war yet but there are several Immortals next to {forget name of celt town}. The temple of Artemis is now due in 11. I’ve got Arbela to 10 shiels for 3 turn Immortals and Pasargardae should have a new mine next turn for 15 shields. Not sure what to do with Tyre and Bactra until irrigation is brought to them.

Fell free to alter builds and comment on MM. I’m learning to play Emperor but still need much improvement in my MM skills. No riots though.

Save here: http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads9/LK100_Persia,_550_BC.SAV

Doh, I continued to go for the temple of artemis. Not sure how much we would waste switching to Zeus.

Remember 10 turns per round - STRICT 24 hours got it, total 48 to complete.
Repeat player restriction: You may NOT play a second round unless:
1) At least 2 different players in front of you.
2) The game has been IDLE for over 48 hours.
My goal is to let a ton of people play in this milestone game.

Special Restrictions:
We may NEVER leave the ancient ages. ONE AA tech must be left unresearched so that we **DON'T** get our free tech.
** The game will be terminated and closed if the above rule is violated - period. No replay, and no second chance.
The game MUST be won by domination.
HINT: The Temple of Artemis will never expire.
HINT2: Expect a lot of fighting, so Monarchy is the preferred government.

This is too cheap. We should not sell techs to the AI, not mentioning this absurd price.

Good point, I was caught out by the sneak attack and not having any money for upgrades.

Isn't ToA in 11 turns?

Hmm, I actually looked at building a temple at Tyre because of its position and then decided not to when I remembered about ToA being built. Guess its too late at night to be playing Civ. Next player please change this. Settler again?

Ok, now that the stress of playing my first SG turns (in a LK game even :) ) is decreasing here's a few thoughts:

There are 2 aztec warriors by Entremont, they moved south towards us last turn, more friends coming to play?

There is a settler in Arbela, I would raze Lugdunum and resettle 1NW for the dyes with expansion.

Pasagadae can be switched to Zeus, due in 14 turns at the mo, We should investigate New York first though to se how long America has to go. (They started quite a while ago but the city as minimal improvements)

Perfect! I was wondering what you would do for LK100 and this is just perfect. :goodjob:

BTW, this is not a got it, I'll wait for more war or just watch.

Arathorn makes a great point about taking the ToA in lieu of building it. SoZ would be a super wonder to build in this game because it will pay for itself many times over since it will work all game long.

I gotta agree with Handy. Just capture the ToA, switch to SoZ and then build Immortals like crazy. AC's all game long, just what this game requires :)

this is a got it ;)

Preflight check: Switch Persepolis to SoZ, wasting 58 shields (2 immortals). It’ll pay for itself soon enough.
Switch Gordium to a settler. We need more towns and we’re really spread out.
Speed up research on Currency, due in 4T @ 50% (+11gpt). We could use markets for short rushing Immortals via spears later.

IBT: Perseopolis SoZ -> Colosseum (Market prebuild); Pasargadae Immortals -> Immortals; Gordium settler -> granary
Americans building Pyramids

T1: 530BC @ Lugdunum: vImmortal kills spear (2/4); vImmortal kills spear and we take the town + 1g (3/4)
MM Pas to get some food.

IBT: Aztec’s declare on us. Defend against 2 reg warriors in Lug, getting an elite Immortal :)
Antioch Immortal -> Immortal

T2: 510BC Near Tyre: cat takes hp off archer, Immortal kills it (3/4); on the nearby hills, Immortal kills archer (4/4)
Near Lug: 4/5 Immortal kills Aztec warrior (2/5)
MM Pas to get shields

IBT: Pas Immortal -> Immortal (MM for food); Arbela Immortal -> Immortal; Bactra barracks -> worker

T3: 490BC Near Tyre: on nearby hills: Immortal dies to archer (2/3)
Upgrade a vet warrior in Antioch
MM sci slider (currency in 1T)

IBT: Currency -> MM (0%, never, +50gpt)

T4: 470BC Found Sardis -> catapult (too many spt for a worker); Shortrush immortal in Arbela

IBT: we get the FP message
Pas Immortal -> Immortal; Arbela Immortal -> Immortal; Antioch Immortal-> Immortal

T5: 450BC Near Richborough: Immortal kills archer (3/4); Immortal kills spear (1/4)
At Entremont: Immortal kills reg spear (2/4); immortal kills reg spear, promotes, and we take the city + 2g (2/5)
Found the tundra town of Samaria -> barracks

IBT: SoZ produces AC; Pers market -> Immortal; Bactra worker -> spear

T6: 430BC At Gergovia: rImmortal kills warrior and promotes, destroying the town for 1g (4/4)

IBT: Americans want to sell MM for Poly + 1g, no thanks
Pas Immortal -> Immortal; Arbela Immortal -> Immortal; Sidon barracks -> Immortal

T7: 410BC Rush granary in Gordium
@ Alesium: vet immortal dies to spear (1/3); vImmortal kills spear (4/4)

IBT: Entremont worker -> worker; Pers Immortal -> Immortal; Antioch Immortal -> Immortal; Gordium granary -> settler

T8: 390BC At Camulodunum: vImmortal redlines but dies to spear; vImmortal redlines but dies to spear  ; nearby, vImmortal kills archer (2/4) ; AC kills archer in town (4/5)
At Alesia: vet immortal dies to spear
Near Tyre: eImmortal kills warrior (2/5) WTH is with this turn?

Notice that we can do 29spt in Persepolis. Disband a warrior there.

IBT: Pers Immortal -> Immortal; Pas Immortal -> Immortal; Arbela Immortal -> Immortal

T9: 370BC At Richborough: Immortal kills spear (3/4); Immortal kills spear and we raze the town + 2g + 1 worker.
Near Entremont: eImmortal kills warrior (3/5)
Short-rush Immortal in Antioch
Peace with Celts gets us Camul + Verulamium + 22g + worker

IBT: Near Entremont: Archer kills 3/5 Immortal
Entremont worker -> worker; Antioch Immortal -> Immortal

T10: 350BC Moving units around. 1 immortal to the empty town of Verulamium.

Hittites are small, Sumeria is large but with small towns. Recommend we switch gears and go after Sumeria.

Remember to short-rush Immortals via spears in Antioch and Arbela. Dyes are near Verul and we could use another lux.

There now have 20 immortals and 1 AC :hammer:

I still think we should self-build ToA if possible (and we could afford it), as it takes AI forever to build it and they might build it together with GL.
that's 900 shields. we better be able to get to an AI civ that dedicated 900 shields to wonders :) this is regent, so yes, it will take them forever, better they invest in that than a ton of spears, swords, or pikes. we have to get to the AI's fast as we now have our best units (4/2/1 immortal and 3/2/2 AC's) for the game.

FWIW I'd kill everyone asap and then later rush culture or (build ToA) for the win.
Well you better leave ONE of them alive, or you will break the win by domination rule.

Exactly because this is regent, we cannot rely on the AI. I suspect we'll kill them faster than they build wonders, so it's highly possible they will not be able to build it at all.

A domination bottleneck is often border expansion. ToA would make this process much less painful. A temple everywhere is certainly well worth 500 shields (that's just 8 temples).

next player can switch Persepolis to ToA. Will take approximately 20turns. However, I suggest an investigation of Zimbabwe and Ur to see how fast they are progressing. the other thing that can be done is to research Lit and build cheap Libraries, but that might invite an AI to research it and build GLib.
