LK128 - What the? Who the?

However, I think Lee, as captain, should check the save before we play on, and give the OK/veto to war with Hannibal.
I will try and look at this tonight. All these 10 hour work days and extreme work pressure is really screwing up my Civ time. On first glance, my question is where are the pikes? If the picture is right I only spotted on. If he was WE and HA we need more pikes before a war.

Summary:
Current plans
Prepare for war with Carthage.

Small wonders
Heroic Epic - I would suggest Production City.
Globe Theater - I am open to suggestions. We do have some of the needed theaters built.
Wall Street -
Oxford -
Forbidden Palace -
National Epic - it is built in Seoul.
Iron Works -

Roster
LKendter (on deck)
Tatran
Bede
Swiss Pauli
Angeleyes (currently playing)

Remember 15 peace / 10 war turns per round. STRICT 24 hours got it, total 48 hours to complete.

Win target: Open, but I would like a military win if possible.

There's one in the stack and one on the way (in the right of the pic). Others will finish over the next turn or two. Hannibal has Knight(s), but we also have Jumbos in the stack, as you can see. I've not seen any WEs in my scouting, but I'm sure he has some around.

Why didn't we research military techs, we know for centuries we are going to attack.
I'll switch to vassalage and i want to attack the city on the hill first, but i will wait other comments and maybe we should research gunpowder and 'grenadiers' first.

That's why I traded them in (Eng and Guilds). We're also looking at a Liberalism grab. If Sal does take Economics before we finish Liberalism that would give us the chance to research (or maybe trade) Gunpowder then complete Liberalism for a Chemistry grab.

As for the hills city (I assume you mean Kerkouane), I thought to defer that attack until Grenadiers, and firstly taking Utica then Carthage. See off his counter then go take Yayoi(?) and that coastal city for the Dyes and Gold.

Was there a got it in there somewhere?
I want to see a turn played soon.

Are you stuck waiting for me to look at the game for comments?

These frelling 10 hours days are great for making money, but really suck for time to do things such as Civ.

@Lee - I suggested that you pick up the save to (dis)approve the war with Hannibal, so I guess angeleyes is waitng for you.

Still waiting for your opinion to go to war or not. Otherwise i'll play sunday.

I will try and offer an opinion shortly.
10 hours days are great for income, but they SUCK for game playing...

I finally took a look at the game. I agree with want to grab liberalism now. I think we should take the most expensive tech of astronomy.

We have a strong tech lead, as most of the techs the AI will trade are cheap. Looking at the tech situation I agree we can hit Grenadiers first. Grenadiers will totally nerf Hannibal's UU. I agree on waiting for the war.

For now I vote for low units (except production city). Lets get free religion going. Let's build a Taoist monastery to take advantage of free religion and get the extra happy points. It looks like a couple rounds of builders turns unit we have stronger units.

Do you want to wait for Steel too? We're already paying 23 gpt for
our units. And where does all this money come from to upgrade our
outdated army?

I'd much prefer to engineer a Chemistry grab if at all possible. If not, then Nationalism, seeing as we have Marble (and horses to we can go MT). We can't get as much value from Astro, as we can from Chemistry/Nationalism.

We don't have a tech lead (behind Sal) and Cathy has Guns. We are blocked from the religious part of the tree as we lack Mono.

Though I disagree with waiting, I'll respect the call to delay war.

I don't know why, but never i was this undecisive in a SG about wether or not go to war. But finally i went to war (not sure about LKendters opinion about this), cause Swiss already had done the preparations and i know i'm often too cautious about it. Played 10 turns an eventfull turnset.

0 1160 AD Declare war on Hannibal. Grab a worker, go with stack for Utica and whip universie in Seoul.

1 Saladin discovers Liberalism ...Switch to Gunpowder. Hannibal sends only 2 knight, 1 longbow and a treb.

IB Saladin appears and i change his proposed deal into this one:

gunpowderzj4.jpg

2 > Chemistry. Kill Hannibals stack at cost of a hwacha and a pike. Capture Utica:

IB My fears come true:

roosdeclaresdc6.jpg

but i knew i could get help:

helpfrombrennuscl1.jpg

4 Roos wants Seattle back and sends a nasty stack to the poorly defended city (also no culture!)
Deals with Cathy, we get spices, corn and 8 gold from her (sold our marble, cancel this deal when we are ready to build HE!)

5 Really any human player would have captured Seattle first turn of the war, but Roos divides his stack incomprehensible and still can't capture it. Our SOD is healing in Utica.

6 I'm going to defend Seattle, it's now about 10 against 10. SOD is send towards Chartage. Every turn we kill a chartagian knight.

IB Ai ai Roos attack on Seattle does more damage than i hoped for, allthough we can kep it.

7 We got a Great General from the Seattle battle, he founds a military academie in Production city.

>>> Evacuate Seattle, chances of surviving are to little and of course the city is in fact of no importance to us at this stage of the game.

IB Roos takes Seattle.

8 Bombard Chartage

9 Bombard Chartage to zero defense. Reinforcing the area around Seoul with pikes to be able to defend against Roos' knights and War elephants.
Get Economics from Louis, and fur, next player can revolt to free market and vassalage, but both cost 2 turns of anarchie, i hoped for only 1 (epic speed)

IB Our copper in Seoul get pillaged by an american knight ....

10 1220 AD ....but our pike takes revenge.

Battle of Chartage: (it is defended by 3 longbows, 2 knights and a pike)

Treb (43%) beats longbow,
Treb (50%) dies to knight,
Treb (69%) retreats to knight,
Treb (87%) kills longbow,
rest is easy and....

Hannibal is willing to make peace (530 gold), he's clearly not a great warmonger, but we should first take at least the eastern part of his land, which has dye and gold. This means we only are able to defend against Roos, who's in a fight with Brennus to.

We had no choice, we lack (happy) resources.
I suggest to keep the war(s) going until we have too much war weariness.

Agree with this: holding Carthage and backfilling Thapsus and Yayoi will give us a huge happy boost. Hannibal seems to be in trouble and I think we can finish him with Grens.

Once we see off Roosy's Seattle stack, we'll be able to take the fight to him, as we have the makings of good stack holed up in Seoul.

Finally, I think declaring war was a brave call, but the right one. We put off aggression once (to build the Gr Lib), but we need to take some risks to catch Sal, who's really flying along.

But finally I went to war (not sure about LKendter's opinion about this), cause Swiss already had done the preparations and i know I'm often too cautious about it.
I am annoyed that the game sat to long waiting for my opinion just to have it ignored.
I never would have declared in that situation as we had far to little pikes to deal with mounted units. The loss of Seattle now leaves me stuck with a turn set with our capitol exposed to a large stack.
Not to mention an ugly two front war that I always struggle with.

Deal with the headache of a two front war.

I didn't ignore your opinion, i did take it into account, but i only didn't take it as an order. Swiss and Tatran were fully convinced we should go to war, i was in doubt for days, and you were (slightly) against it.
We did have five warelephants besides the pikes to handle the knights, and Swiss reported seeing only one cartagian knight.
Our capital isn't in danger at all, i've made pikes and muskets to defend it.
If you don't like a two front war, you can make peace any moment with Hannibal if you want to, but Hannibal couldn't make a fist in my turnset (and Roos is in war (for the second time) with Brennus too).

Come on, we play for fun, and i really think your turnset will be fun.
