LK135 - Dutch, monarchy, Hemispheres map

Research path for a major civic switch in Golden Age :
PP -> Constitution -> Democracy
Civics : US + (FS) + Emancipation + FM

This is the third turn-set Churchill has enough on his hands.
It won't be the first time a leader waits until Astronomy and declares war
on the human player. So, we have to improve our military.

Save the Great Merchant for the Sid's Sushi Corporation?

We have to avoid Judaism (AP) in our cities.

Suggestions :
Wall Street in the Hague.
Oxford in Amsterdam.

I agree with FS, Eman, and FM. US isn't something I run much. What are you hoping to gain with it?

So, we have to improve our military.
I agree 100%. In addition, we have the challenge to spread out our military somewhat even among the cities. Obviously, key city such as FP and NE get more.

Save the Great Merchant for the Sid's Sushi Corporation?
I still am not that familiar with using corps. What are you hoping to accomplish with SSC?

1) I suspect the islands are more likely to go, so I would put them as priority.
2) Is the city you marked "???" on a river? That would make it more appealing even if we do need to chop a lot of jungle.

The US for cash rushing + extra hammer in towns.
We're Financial + 2 shrines + a lot of cottages.
Once Slavery is gone I still would like to rush.
Btw, I don't see us using the other governments.

I almost forgot, with the new patch, corporations are very attractive now
without the inflation part.
Sid's Sushi is all about seafood resources (+ rice) and we have a lot of them.

The origianal dot map contains 2 jungle cities.
The ??? mark isn't near fresh water, but has less overlapping tiles.

New Updates
We still need to spread our religions. Since we spent the time to get two shrines, I want to get the maximum value from them.

I agree with going for Sid's Sushi. It comes with a qualification that our next two cities are the island cities to grab more seafood.

I agree with more military ASAP, except I will delay our HE city temporarily to get the forge built. At just 10 turns we will get the troop back soon enough. Number 6 in soldiers is pretty bad this late in the game.

I would whip the forge in Ulundi before we switch to US.

The one area we are really hurting is productive cities. I can't believe how many cities have single digits for shields. Leaving slavery is going to be extremely painful for us.
We should start thinking about Moai statues. I see no clear location, and I am open to team suggests. We badly need production, and I won't throw away any wonder that gives production.

As I said earlier, maybe Moai Statues should go in one of our future island cities for maximum benefit.

It looks like we got all the cities in place. What I can't figure out is how we got enough troops to have even token guards.

Looking at the game picture I can't figure why our HE city is building Taoist missionary. We could still get hurt badly by an invasion, and take enough damage not to launch in time.
I don't see a single unit being built.

It's in the queue for tonight, maybe Thursday (3 SGs coming due).

I don't see a single unit being built.
The AIs still don't have Optics, except Mali. But Mansa is a vassal of Churchill.
We could build another city to the west of Ulundi to grab the fish.
There are 3 open tiles left (3S of Maastricht, 3N of Tiel and a tundra tile east of Haarlem) for the AIs to settle near us.
We shouldn't waste a city on the 1 tile island above Hoorn. There's no seafood.

Some foreign religions has spread to our cties (Buddhism, Christianity and Islam).
Before researching Scientific Method we should build some of those monasteries.

Nice settling there :) Just one more city to west of Ulundi and then we can start building defenses.

This is looking good. What we need is a strong navy.

In maps like these I usually use caravels to patrol the enemy coastal cities, to check the number of ships in port from time to time. If someone is massing a large number of transports, then you know that something is up, and when they leave and appear to be heading for you it is better to sink them before they can land their invasion fleet. You take a diplomatic hit, but it is much easier than killing troops on the ground, and you need such a big army.

The below is a LK House rule revision. The previous version was to restrictive and to convoluted.
9) Putting GP asleep is prohibited. Please use any GP ASAP using your best judgment. If you are unsure, please ask for another opinion, or hand the game over early.

In a recent game as Dutch, I founded sushi (+10 food) in an already food rich city and even with maxed out specialists, the thing still grew to pop 32. I was able to convert all the farms to cottages, and it eventually stabilized around 29.

Aside from the extra coins, sushi is da bomb for a GP farm city or a city that has a lot of hammer rich tiles, but little food.

Mining Inc is my favorite for the extra hammers (+10 ).

Std Ethanol gave me 22(!) beakers per city.

Dutch seem to be a little overpowered on a water map with their dikes--it's not uncommon to be able to knock out naval units in one or two turns.

The military situation is worse then I even expected. I didn't expect to find totally naked cities.
I am pleasantly surprised to see every civ on the map please with us. This may end even faster with a diplomatic win.

1510 AD
I am starting to get a better sense why production sucks. Nobamba lost its mines in favor of windmills. If this is on a lot of the map, then I understand the production problems. Income isn't the problem this game - it is production.

New Updates
I whipped our smaller cities hard why the option was still available. Generating enough cash for finish a lot of rushing is tough without killing science.

The tech path is set for steam power so that we get our UB going. That will go a long way toward getting us more shields.

Our HE city should stay on heavy ship duty just in case Gilgamesh shows up with some troops.

I spread our religion more, and got a monastery for the other religions done. I would try to spread those other religions to shield heavy cities to build more monasteries before scientific method.

I built a few more workers, but with lumbermills available we need a lot more.

I've to play a few more games with the latest patch to make a conclusion
about the AI and colonies. The same thing happened to me in a current sologame.
The AI creates a colony and declares on someone.

10 war turns, but a very quiet set with no sign of enemy activity. Why did Sumeria DoW on us? They don't even have optics, so there is no way they can attack us.

(336): looking good
337: The English are revolting (still researching Gunpowder). We get Gunpowder, next Chemistry.
338: East Indiaman sinks a barbarian ship outside Leiden
341: Chemistry -> Steam Power
342 Another barbarian ship sunk outside Hoorn.
343 Churchill demands that we cut relations with the French. Difficult since both are friendly, but I think we will have a conflict with England sooner or later, and I want to keep France as a friend. Denied.
345 Islam spreads to Utrecht. I add an Islamic monastery in the build queue after the bank, which will be done in three turns.

I focused on spreading religion and building lumbermills. The new cities are costing lots of money and should get courthouses asap.

I suggest building the forest reserve in Enkhuizen.

Just for fun I built a privateer. He could go and harass the Mongols or the English.

I've looked at the last save.
We've got 6 religions except Judaism. That's good.
Hoorn is our only city without a religion.
My suggestion : to build a missionary ASAP and spread the word ourselves.
No Judaism in our cities -> no AP influence.

I would also like to see more cash rushing.
We've a huge tech lead, so researching at 50% is acceptable.
