LK135 - Dutch, monarchy, Hemispheres map

Wasting silk and not being coastal (no dike/harbor/custom house) for corn?
Looks like :crazyeye: to me.

@LK
Did you play your turn-set with patch 3.13?

I've upgraded in the middle of a sologame and I've encountered some problems with colonies.
(I had to declare on my own colony, really unfun. :( )
Maybe it's better to finish this SG without the patch.

Got it.

Plan:
1. continue towards liberalism
2. capture the barbarian city
3. get a GP for the second shrine

I have already updated to 3.13, and plan to play with this version unless someone is complaining loudly.

Now it makes sense. On initial look I just saw a great food tile missing.

I already started building up troops for that barb city. You have a few swords and 1 catapult.

I have already upgraded, and played using 3.13 IIRC.
If we want to continue this SG with the 3.13 patch we risk some problems.
I've re-installed civ4 without the latest patch and my colony problems were gone.
I will end my sologame without the 3.13 patch and then upgrade.

Since LK has already played with the new patch I also used it. Hopefully we won't get any big problems.

The previous report mentioned a switch to bureaucracy, but in the save we were still barbarians. I decided to wait with the switch until I got the next GP, so I could change from pacifism at the same time.

Turn 263: Mansa want to trade CS for Music. Good thing we decided on the liberalism path instead. De Gaulle has built Zeus. Confucianism spreads in Nobamba.
dutch11.jpg

264: We capture Hun, and get 91 gold.
266: By mistake I trade Kublai alphabet for polytheism and some money (I was only checking what he would give, and clicked on the wrong line  ). I decide to research literature before finishing Education (only two turns), so that I can start building the Heroic Epic.
268: Mansa is a vassal of Churchill who is #1 by far in score.
271: Education is in. Liberalism started.

272: The great prophet is born. Civics changed to bureaucracy/paganism (2 turns of anarchy)
dutch12.jpg

We get some free beakers towards Engineering. I don't gamble on getting more, since we are running out of funds.

274: Dai Miao in 's-Gravenhage. The NW barbarian city (Zhou) was razed, and Middleburg settled. I decide to put it one south of the dot map position. The reasons are that the gold mine connected at once, which means that the city will pay for itself, and better tiles in the fat cross (rivers and grassland).
275: Taoist monastery finished in Amsterdam. Building a taoist missionary. Many more are needed to spread the faith everywhere and make money for our new shrine.

I'm building a taoist missionary in 's-Gravenhage as well, but it may be better continue building the Epic once it is done.

Churchill is getting quite powerful. We have the tech lead, but we'd better be keep an eye on him, especially after he gets Astronomy.

 Why paganism when we are currently researching free religion?

Have we officially dumped our state religion?

Well, on second thought I probably shouldn't play late at night. My reason for ditching pacifism was to save on military costs once we start rebuilding the army, but as you say it would have been better to wait with the civic switch until we get liberalism and free religion. My mistake

(We are still Confucian)

Should had switched to Bureaucracy immediately and Free Religion later when possible. Oh well

What can I say? Obviously you're right. Civic changes is something I tend to forget/mess up in my private games as well. Need to work on that...

New Updates
In 10 turns when we get liberalism, I would like to revolt to free religion.

Since we got our second prophet let us overflow whip the Globe Theater ASAP. There is no reason to wait at this point. I would like a couple of galley included to grab the islands. We have a debate about grabbing the iceberg source of marble as the next city.

The marble opens up the next debate, and that is what to grab with liberalism. Do we want astronomy or nationalism? Getting a GA from the Taj would be a big bonus for getting our empire up to speed.

Roster
LKendter
Yena
Meiz (currently playing)
Njorls (on deck)
Tatran

Remember 15 peace / 10 war turns per round. STRICT 24 hours got it, total 48 hours to complete.

Win target: open

Planned wars - none.

Astronomy will give us observatories and trade routes. I think that's better as free tech as we can manually research Nationalism and still get a good shot at Taj Majhal.

Short turn report this time.

Took Astronomy as a free tech and remembered to adopt Free Religion couple of turns later :p Started Nationalism for Taj Majhal. Amsterdam should build it fairly quickly and the benefit will be huge. I think we should go for Guilds next.

FP was whipped in Nomamba and GT in Ulundi. s-Gravenhage is building Heroic Epic. National Epic in Ulundi after it builds library? Oxford University should go to Amsterdam to take full profit from Bureaucracy.

Two cities established. Galley is transporting another worker and taoist missionary to Leiden.

I made lot's of deals. Happy / health cap's were lifted and our income jumped almost 40 gpt. I also opened borders with everyone for extra trade routes.

New Updates
The one this that has me confused looking at the game is Ulundi. I thought we agreed on Globe Theater to set up a military whipping center. The city is building a library.
@Meiz - what was your goal for Ulundi?

Outside of the above everything looks on track. Lets keep expanding to the islands, and improving the economy.

 I can't get out of my personal game habit. I have been building GT and NE in high food city for maximum specialist's. Fortunately there's no hammers invested in library.

Made a trade with Mansa, he would have thrown in Monotheism but was afraid of WFYABTA

lk135-mansa-engineering0000.jpg

Finished Heroic Epic in 's-Gravenhange. Built an East Indiaman and Catapults there.

Whipped Courthouse, Barracks in Ulundi. Whipped Maceman every time population would stay over 6 after whip.

Hooked up and roaded Marble. Started Taj Mahal in Amsterdam once it was hooked up

Saw 2 barb galleys on our southern coast but they didn't pillage or sink anything

Whipped Observatories in Utrecht and The Hague

Whipped basic infrastructure in newer cities

Started settler in Nobamba and Nijmegen

Think I built a :smoke: cottage near Middleburg

Research was finish Nationalism, Guilds, Banking. Had a choice between Printing Press and Economics, took Economics since Churchill was finishing
banking and didn't want to lose free GM. Churchill went to CoL but Mansa got banking and switched to Mercantilism.
