LK22 - Always War - Iroqoius

Nice job Garsonga :goodjob:

I will not be able to play for at least 24 hrs. so if Brian wants to swap places with me it is okay.

At some point we should use a leader to build an army.

Good luck Jersey Joe - These 10 turns could break the game :(
3 immortals, yet 2 spearman defending Salamanca.

1) Wake the mw in Grand River. We need counter attack units in Salamanca. Even a break on the horse road would hurt. If not woke up THIS turn, won't be able to counter attack English units that could break roads by Salamanca.

2) Why is a mounted warrior (3 attack, 1 defense) being wasted as a defender?

3) Worker nitpicking - but why clearing the Jungle before mineing the silks tile in use?

4) We need to start another settler soon - We are being out produced big time.

5) An army would be nice - but we are so weak on attack units - it won't help much. We can't afford to cut down our number of attacking units right now.

The next city plan
LAK-061.jpg

From here we want to capture that Babylon city.

We are definitely in the hole hear - lack of cities and production is killing us.

Sorry, I see almost constant overtime in my near future.. (12pm and still at work..) Joe, it is all yours..

Preturn -- MM towns which are completing their build this turn to get a little more gold.

560AD Immortals prove to be mortal on the walls of Salamanca.
We lose a spearman, his death is revenged.
Tecumseh consults wih the groundhog and the woodchuck and creates the Hanging Gardens.
MW kills an immortal. Persian assualt is stopped.
Babs move bowmen toward Tonawanda.

570AD
Hanging Gardens built, luxury tax set to 0.
Our MW's, at Tonawanda, take he fight to the Babs and the GL Red Cloud appears. He heads for Allegheny. Salamanca gets a breather, no enemy at its walls.

580AD The English attack Salamanca, our Braves defend bravely. :crazyeye: At Tonawanda the fight is equally fearce, we lose a spearman, but our other spearman kills 3 bowman and in the process becomes elite.
MW's at Salamanca kill the english swordsmen before they can defile our roads.

590AD Skirmishing around Tonawnada.
Red Cloud builds a Great Wall in Allegheny. More fighting around Salamanca & Tonawanda.

600AD Aztec's build the Great Lighthouse.
Great wall is built. The Babs begin to withdraw from Tonawanda?

610AD
We attack a small Bab town and it is autorazed. Fortunately we had a settler with us :)

620AD Our brave Spearmen and MW's once again prove Immortals are mortal :D
Mauch Chuk is founded.

630AD We lose a warrior defending Steve's Silk.

640AD I prepare for an assualt on Eridu

650AD We take some damage killing all but one defender at Eridu.

end of turn - Luxury tax set to 10% so Salamanca will not go into disorder next turn.

Here it is: Always War

I know I did not build the town where you wanted it, but the babs had a great many troops in that area.

The worker standing in the desert in between Steve's and Salamanca is there to build a road. Steve's is a good place to build spearmen and a road there will cut travel time by at least one turn (all the river crossings).

I've downloaded it, and hopefully can play tonight or tomorrow..
I've been working lots of OT but hopefully I'll get time for 10 turns..

Yes, we survived one stack of doom.

One new needed city - Babylon city under assault :)

:goodjob: on the worker with the road and turn saving.

 Why can't we capture any workers this game -
We really need the help to improve our land.

NOTE: Allegheny is building an aquaduct, but has ZERO spare food. We need to irragate some plains by that city.

I realized what this game has been so difficult -
Our blasted scouts - we found other civs much earlier in LK21.
I learned a lesson with always war - DON'T scout very far from your home...

Part of the reason I stressed this one -
City size 1 to 6 - 2 free military
City size 7 and over - additional free military (I forget the exact #)

We are already getting killed with military support costs. The extra size is really worth it.

Trouble is we need more workers. We need to steal some Babylon workers...

It is 2 more free units, plus more tiles being worked = more income.
It seems that the Babs stopped attacking Tonawanda. There are 3 MW's in Tonawana, maybe they can "hire" a few bab workers.

Some thoughts:

Yes, I know military costs are killing us but I got a feeling we are going to need some serious defenses in the future. It seems to me those SODs are getting bigger and tougher all the time.

We should also look at trying to build some fortification cities at the choke point in the southern part of our land. You know cities on hills with walls and a barracks and nothing else. Load them up with catapults and spearmen, maybe a couple of MWs to pick off stragglers.

If we could somehow seal off the English and the Perisans, or at least keep them occupied we could concentrate on finishing off Babylon. This three front war is killing us. We really need to be able develop our inner cities.

Well when the Great Library goes away we are in deep trouble. At pure taxes / luxuries we barely net any money. If our military cost don't go down before the GL expires - we will lose the science race big time. We still have the hugh risk of a LK surprise where the other land mass is getting ahead of us in science.

Actually this is part of our problem.
We have NO inner cities - The 2 cities not at our borders are along the coast. We need to get the the point of having a city that can safely have 1 unit guarding it.

Also, we lack the workers to develop our cities - In LK21 by this time we had a lot of slave labor to help.

As for the 3 front war - we made the hugh mistake of explore to far from our starting point. Again looking at LK21, we had multiple interior cities before we had to start deal with SoD.

Sorry, but I haven't had time to complete my turns. Too much overtime.

I did play a few turns last night, but was tired. I got frustrated and deleted all my saves. (lost most of our MW and lost 1 city)

I don't think it would be right to play over again, so please skip me and I'll jump back in next round.

650AD(0) - Pre-turn. Moving a MW to Mauch Chunk.
660AD(1) - Our MW captured Eridu with 3 workers (1 Ressistor at size 2). Move MW to Grand River.
670AD(2) - Killed 2 Bab bowman. Spearman rushed at Eridu. Moving another MW plus a spearman to Mauch Chunk. Killed 2 English swordsman. Some English swordsman commit suicide at Grand River's wall.
680AD(3) - Killed more Bab bowmans and Sitting Bull appears! The first Iroquis army is formed. ;)
690AD(4) - And our spearman army holds its ground in Eridu!(Went all the way to red before it wins, phew!) Once we get a leader we can now build the Hero's Epic. :D
700AD(5) - Barrack rushed in Eridu. Killed 2 Persian Immortals & 2 Bab bowmans.
710AD(6) - Our gamble pay off as our MW attack a swordsman and another GL, Shenandoah appears. ;)
720AD(7) - Hero's Epic written in Niagara Falls with the help of Shenandoah. Immortals bang their heads on the wall of Grand River.
730AD(8) - The frontier city of St Regis founded. Killed 3 English swordsman with the help of our Catalpult.
740AD(9) - Learned Currency from the Great Library. Babarian uprising near Eridu.
750AD(10) - Minor skirmishes all around.

The gold reserve has dropped to 585gp but income is 41gpt. I have used the gold to rush wall and barracks which proves invalueable in the defense. The English has diverted their attack to St Regis which is build on hill and has wall and barrack not to mention defended by 4 spearmans. Our MW is pretty spreadout at the moment as I moved them around for the defensive attack. Our Power sucks bigtime on the chart but clearly number 1 on culture. It would be really interesting to see how all this goes. ;)

Here is the savegame.

Here is a graphic preview. Notice St Regis is under seige at the bottom left. Lets keep the finger crossed and hope it holds. ;)
