Russia wants Banking badly, but I will wait to MY turn to trade.

http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads/LK24-770AD.zip

OPEN GAME -
Take up to 20 turns
Attempting for the very difficult again - DOMINATION from a world map game.
No worker automation!
FOR WARMONGERS.

Played 5 turns,
780 AD Set science to 70 % after getting chemistry and starting on metallurgy. 5 turns to complete. 50 gold out of an island locked goodie hut our sailing warrior found.

790 AD Smyna's culture fattens up. We find some new land and name it Austrailia. Rome gets in bed with the Zulu and Declares war on Persia. Not smart.

800 AD Krasnoyarsk flips to us! we start the people a temple in thanks for their show of support.

810 AD Iceland-2 Founded overlaps Iceland-1 but takes advantage of 2 fish and a whale

820 AD Started a fight with Russia after she refused my Demands for Democracy (Don't tell her we don't actually want it I wouldn't want her to think we're blood thirsty or something)
Lost an Elite Knight taking Odessa but it had a settler in it so maybe it evens out. 3 Resistors, I order a temple.
Lose a vet knight taking Smolensk but another one was promoted so it evens out. All 7 Citizens are resisting, you might want to disband the city. We have three settler-Musketman combos waiting in Caravels, mabey making our own city on the spot would work.

The next player is just in time to get metallurgy, upgrade all those catapults to cannons and prepare to lay siege to the russian capital, I have no doubt we could have it within 5 turns from now.

Short but sweet, Its a little disorienting taking over such a large game I had no hand in building. I hope I didn't start a war we weren't ready for. Good luck to the next German ruler, I leave the war to you.

I take it for a handfull tonight before heading to bed.

EDIT: Turn 5 was Ugly, going to play a couple more to clean things up - tomorrow.

(0) 820 AD - Cancel clearing the game by Alborg. Rails are to far away, want to keep the game forest square for now.
Cancel irragation by Oslo - this town is food rich and shield poor.
Cancel mining by Lisbon - this town is food poor.
Wake up the sleeping knights by Kazan, and capture it.
China improving - "only" wants $60 in gold now.

Make some money again from map trading.
Get a worker from Persia for wm!
(I) Our galley by Austria has 4! barb galleys approaching it.
Start research on Military tradition.

(1) 830 AD - Minsk is captured
(I) Wall Street is offerred.
Japan / America starts Shakespeare

(2) 840 AD -
(I) A longbowman attacks out elite knight - we get a leader [dance]
The bad news, the knight stack did thin out from the Russian counter-attack.

(3) 850 AD - Weaken Tblisi down to a spearman, but run out of attacking units.
(I) Chinesse riders show up by Tbilsi, and kill one of our knights.

(4) 860 AD - I give China $60 to go away. 4 riders could raze Smolensk and beyond. We can't fight China, YET.
Size 10 Tblisi is RAZED - To close to Moscow to risk taking.
Kill 2 spearman in Rostov.
France / Babylon peace treaty.
Why did the Chinesse riders cross our borders - GACK!
[dance] We get Copernicus.
India / Japan to Bach / Shakespeare / Magellan
America / Egypt to Shakespeare
Aztecs to Bach / Shakesspeare
Iroqoius / Greek to Bach

(5) 870 AD - I prefer to know. Demand China leave - Back at war.
The RnG shafts us big time - we lose most of our knights, and China still has 2 injured Riders left.
Rostov is captured.

We need help - NOW. I ally with France vs. China, it cost Metalurgy, $500, but it is worth it.
I hope France drags more nations into the fight vs. China.

Since Metalurgy is known
Metalurgy to India for Physics, wm, $1/turn.
Astronomy to Rome for $8, 2 workers (junk, but may as well get the help while we can).
Metalurgy to Egypt for Democracy, wm, $135.
Metalurgy to Aztec for Free Aristry (standby wonder).

I know if things get worse, Russia will take a peace treaty.

(I) Knight defend well - lost 1 knight, killed 1 rider, 1 knight.
Spice supply lost - Get it back for $2/turn
[dance] As I hoped - France / Egypt ally versus China - The question, can Egypt do any damage?
Persia / Zulu peace treaty.

(6) 880 AD - Simply moving troops back to cities. Kill the last known Rider near us.
(I) Rome / China ally vs. France. :crazyeye:
Start research on Theory of Gravity.

(7) 890 AD - A stack of 9! Russian Knights is coming our way.
Greenland-01 is formed - temple ordered.
Greenland-02 is formed - temple ordered.
Fighting the stack of 9 knights would cost us Minsk - we need time to rebuild.
Peace with Russia for $13 (all the cash they had).

(8) 900 AD - Greenland-03 is formed - of course, a temple is ordered.
Finally - a luxuries deal - wines to Aztecs for $10/turn.
(I) [dance] We actually get Bach! German culture is awesome!
We add another building to the palace.
Cascade effect -
Chinesse / Russia / Iroqoius / Aztecs / Persia / India / Egypt / Japan / France / Amercica to Shakespeare
Aztecs / India / Japan to Magellan's

(9) 910 AD - Germany is just flooding with cash, +91/turn and a lot from maps - another rushed building.
(I) Some of the cascde breaks - India builds Shakespeare.

(10) 920 AD - Kill a lone China spearman that crossed our border.
Pop a goody hut - get a map
Greenland-04 is formed - time for a temple.
We get Magnetism from Egypt for Iron.
(I) The palace expands again
Egypt / Japan / France / America building Magellan

(11) 930 AD -
(I) We begin research on railroads - I can't believe how fast science has been pushed this game!
I love scientific - Nationalism for free.
(I) Uh, didn't the palace just expand :crazyeye:
Japan completes Magellan - Oh well, I knew I would lose the cascade somewhere.
GACK! - Massive barb uprising near Greenland-01
Can 1 musketman stop 8+ horseman?
Egypt is building Newton - Ouch, so much for my tech lead - If this is a cascade we are screwed.

(12) 940 AD - I would have preferred Newton in Berlin, but we will lose the race.
Krakow can win the race.
Begin the upgrade to Rifleman process - it will take a few turns.
(I) The mass barbs fizzle. They can't even kill our exploring knight.
France starts Newton.
BLAST - Stockholm flips back to Russia, scratch 1 musketman.

(13) 950 AD - Bite me Stockoholm - WAR!
The RnG is truly sadistic - we lose 3 cavalry assualting a regular musketman in Stockholm.
The city is RAZED - flip this people.
Pop a goody hut - angry barbs.
We have a victorious army - time for the Heroic Epic.
This is the most screwed turn I have seen for the RnG - We lose Cavalry assualting Spearman!
Our offensive is down to a slow grind.
(I) Zululand and Egypt ally vs. China.
India starts Newton.

(14) 960 AD - The Demonic spearman is Moscow kills another Cavalry.
(I) Egypt / China peace treaty.
France refuses to trade for silks :(
Sell them Iron for $14 / turn. I want a strong country next to China.
I see why I can't get silks - France lost a source.

(15) 970 AD - Our ARMY finally kills the Demonic spearman in Moscow, then RAZES the city - total new workers is 7.
ReallyKiev is formed.
(I) The Heroic Epic is completed - lets get more leaders.

(16) 980 AD - Zzzzzzzzzzz.

(17) 990 AD -
(I) 1 city England / France ally vs. Rome.
[dance] We get Newtons
Yet another Palace expansion.

(18) 1000 AD - The RnG still hates me. I lose a cavalry attacking a knight.
(I) WHO CARES - Rome / Russia trade embargo.
Begin Factory research.
We can build Iron Works!

(19) 1010 AD - I've been working on the Railroad...
The city is Krakow which already as 31 shields - Iron works will complete in 10 turns.
Kill a Russia spear / settler combo south of Kazan - No stray Russian city, +2 workers.
We capture Vladivostok - worker +2 - great news with RailNet time starting.
The big question - where will the Russian 11 knight stack attack?
(I)They do NOTHING.
Nationalism is out there - Greece wants an MPP.
France / China peace treaty.

(20) 1020 AD - The Russian stack includes 1 cossack.
I kill 1 cossack, 2 knights at no cost.
I sell wm to Persia for 2 workers:) The faster we can build the railnet.
Attempt peace with China again - the only cost is wm.

Summary - For the moment a defensive war vs. Russia - we need to kill that knight stack.
Try to sneak a couple of factories in somewhere.

Greenland cities should build - Temple, walls, harbor, settler. This cities will never be productive, the sole goal is to

claim more land. The settlers should help claim more of Greenland.

We have Smiths - build plenty of free marketplaces and banks.

Tons of fighting planned, staying in Monarchy.

for only a few turns (newbie at this)

i did shadow from 820-890, took moscow, but it flipped back and the 9 knight stack forced me to make peace. the chinese riders also got smolensk, but i was able to take it back once the calvary came in--- interesting game!

LK24 Germany World Map Domination

Pre-turn:
not much. all looks good- in earlier years, i would have looked to the lush
ivory coast for settlement, but greenland will have to do -- good for domination tiles
(i) egypt demonstrating near turkey
russia has 12 knights in our zone, 3 injured returning to capital

(1 1030) stayed on war production (calvary and cannon)
army defeats lone knight, returns to minsk
all calvary attack knights - when 1 elite and one vet calv die on a super-knight, riflemen
take up the charge. all 11 knights and 1 horseman dead. 3 elite calv gained.
1 elite, 1 vet lost
advance 2 calv 3 tiles from grozny and northern russian town.
position wounded calv in minsk for push to russian capital
diplo:
ivory from zulu for wines and 25 gpt -- is this too much? a lot of "we love" days
were cancelled last time
france - steam power for 14gpt and 30 gold
egypt - steam power for 32 gpt and 110 gold
india - steam power for 37 gpt and 19 gold
all other techs are behind or have no gold -- china has some, but would give us 30 only (no gpt)
(i) 2 riflemen go elite defended near minsk. both 1 hp though.
russian knights blockade path to st. petersburg (1 per tile)
america wants 6gpt for MPP - get lost!
celebrations re-enacted!

(2 1040) eliminate knight guards
lose 2 calv trying a premature attack on st. pete. (fortified musket was strong!)
take kharkov with 2 calv , +2 workers, 1 elite calv in city. 1 adjacent. workers move to safety
mass forces outside of st. pete, cannons wont be in range for 2 turns
science - 100%, industrialization in 2 turns, +33 still
(i) russia - 2 attacks, cossack vs. vet calv near kharkov -- vet barely wins and becomes elite.
also knight vs. rifle outside of st. pete, knight dead.
egypt masses calvary northward into armenia/georgia region of old russia.

(3 1050) science down to 90% (1 turn)
stay on war production of calv and cannon
staging to st. pete - -still 2 turns to seige :(
(i) wall street completes in rome! 1000gp present
iron exausted

(4 1060) more staging near st. pete - 1 more turn
move new cannons to reallykiev -- next target veii
all calv army moves near kiev
50 gold from a goodie
(i) not much

(5 1070) seige begins cannon suck hardcore
calvary are successful - no leaders, russian capital is now kiev, +2 worker
use victory to get grozny -- first use calv from kharkov -- both elites die
army attacks veii-- also hurt badly -- war not going so well all of a sudden

end of turn.

NEVER trade away steam power.
The biggest human advantage is to get a good rail-net before the AI does.
Germany had plenty of cash.
This trade only will hurt us and was not worth any amount of cash.

I got it for a few turns.

(0) 1070 AD - Why are we researching Espionage? Let the AI research it, and then we will buy it.
It waste some time, but I switch to Medicine to work toward ToE.
St.Pete switch to starve mode - I don't want a flip here.
We are very cash heavy - I rush a temple in Greenland-03. I want our first harbor in Greenland.
I am glad to see a rifleman protecting our army :goodjob:
Rush the factory in Berlin, so that we can start universal suffrage.
A lone Cossack attacks Smolensk - We hold - I will send a second rifleman there.
France / Rome peace treaty.

(1) 1080 AD - I spot several GOTO orders. Don't use goto orders in succession games
No action, the troops need a rest.
(I) St. Pete resitance ends.

(2) 1090 AD - I rush a harbor in Greenland-03. We can now build a railnet there.
A large stack moving on Gronzy - this city puts culture pressure on several of our conquered cities.
Nothing of interest in the trading screen.
Rush a temple in Vladivostok. I love our cashflow ;)
(I) I love Iron works - Krakow will complete it's factory in 4 turns!
Greenland-03 starts barracks. We need one town to upgrade our troops in Greenland from.

(3) 1100 AD - We take Gronzy, but it cost several cavalry.
I am really getting baffled with this game.
I don't think I have seen a cavalry retreat.
I wonder if somebody played with the Rules with this version of the world-map?
(I) The spice supply from India goes up $5/turn. Still very much worth it.
England / Rome peace treaty.
Start research on Electricty.

(4) 1110 AD - Pop a goody hut - Gain $50.
Rush temple in Kharkov - We need to keep expanding borders, and we may as well use our hugh cash flow.

(5) 1120 AD - We begin bombarding Veii - Barracks destroyed, drops to size 4
Kill a lone cossack that landed by Berlin.
Greenland is so nuts - we get $25 for dispersing a barb camp.

Summary - The ship with Rifleman / settler is to claim more of the islands or Greenland.

Veii has been beat down and with another round of cannons should fall.

The workers are concentrateing toward Berlin to speed up the time to build Suffrage.

Science goals - Scientific Method, start ToE, and work toward Hooever Dam.

Greenland cities should build - Temple, walls, harbor, settler. This cities will never be productive, the sole goal is to claim more land. The settlers should help claim more of Greenland.

Tons of fighting planned, staying in Monarchy.

Hey, surrender would be nice, but Russia has given us a lot of cities ;)

They even build us some cities on the islands above Finland.

Krahow should wait 2 turns - 4, 4 = 8 the time could go wrong. ToE builds before the city that trips the next tech.

I left the Cannon on the railnet outside of ReallyKeiv.

Some bad news, no rubber in our borders. The only rubber I saw was about 1/2 way down in Africa.

To end on an up note. We get the Corporation in 4 turns and right after on the same turn, Karlow will build ToE.
Only thing bad about the timing I can think of is that polution hits Krakow and delays the build 1 turn.

Here it is: LK24 German Domination

yes it does get addicting

I got it.

Playing a Europe power sucks!
I guess at some point we will have to take out Africa
:flamedevi:

I will find a good use for the leader.
It *WON'T* be a fp. Peking looks like a good spot for that ;)

Last time I player world it was China with owning most of the Indonesia area.

(0) 1230 AD (Partial turn) - The leader position really does SUCK.
Pop $50 from a goody hut.
I switch Barcelona to Courthouse - The corruption level is pretty high.
70% science still gets corporation in 4 turns.

(1) 1240 AD - Kuibyshev is captured - gains some workers for that piece of ice.

(2) 1250 AD - It is to hard to resist.
There are *FOUR* Greek settler pairs by our troops.
Greece has NO mpp.
War is declared on Greece - We have 8 new workers at the cost of 1 cavalry.
We need all the help we can get with our railnet.
Most of what is left of Russia is out of range.
:flamedevi We need someone to actually fight.

Sparta is captured - 2 turns get all I wanted from Greece.
IceCity-01 is formed.
An empty Odessa is autorazed.
"Russia greets you, Ruler of Bloodthirsty Germany"
I have never seen that nasty message before.
Peace with Russia - There last cities are far to away to capture - YET.
We get Communism, Sanitation and wm.
Russia is now a 3 city joke.

Peace with Greece for Argos - the only city we can reach anytime soon.
We buy espionage for $285 from the Zulu.
The Zulu has for an embargo against Rome - we agree for $25 - we are about to start a more permanent "embargo".

(7) 1275 AD - Why do I feel the need to build rails toward Roman cities?
An unexpected surprise - we buy a Zulu worker for $22 / wm.
We have a massive amount of terrian to rail - we still have undevloped tiles near our core cities.
(I) Rome / Zulu peace treaty.

(8) 1280 AD - Siberia-09 is formed.
Neapolis is interfering with our Rails project - WAR vs. Rome.
Neapolis is captured - we can proceed with Rail building
Of course, the fact that this city is near our fp had nothing to do with the decision :satan:
Lugdunum is captured - Uh - Siberia-10.
Lutetia is captured - Well, make that Siberia-11.
We dispered another Barb camp in Greenland - That knight has given a lot of money to the treasury.
We kill a Roman settler - we can always use more workers.
Viroconium is captured - renamed to Siberia-12.
(I) We lose a cavalry to a Roman bowman.
Start research on Steel.

(9) 1285 AD - We have *ONE* source of oil, the recently captured city of Delphi.
I've been working on the railroad...
ARGGGGGGGGG! The Aztecs beat us to the best spot for claiming rubber -
we now have to build 2 cities to get it -
The spot I wanted was ALSO going to give use dyes.

(10) 1290 AD -
(I) Rome / Russia trade embargo

(11) 1295 AD -

(12) 1300 AD -

Summary - Persia is the next target - once we have some more troops, and rails close to Persia
They have cavalry, so make sure we have a decent amount of troops before starting a war.

The are ships on GoTO to south America - They are trying to secure a source of Rubber.

We need to keep improving the rail-net.

Greenland and other junk cities should build - Temple, walls, harbor, settler (if possible).
These cities will never be productive, the sole goal is to claim more land.

DON'T bother building any universities. Our research is doing well already. I don't want to trip an accidental culture win.

Tons of fighting planned, staying in Monarchy.

OPEN GAME -
Take up to 20 turns
Attempting for the very difficult again - DOMINATION from a world map game.
No worker automation!
FOR WARMONGERS.
>>> DON'T USE GOTO ORDERS!!!! <<<

got it -- will post tomorrow with results-- hopefully 10 turns

OK - I think Germany may get tanks first, so no tech trading ;)

Of course, we need to secure Rubber in South America first :(

I did notice that we are ahead on that line so i didnt give anything away on the tech side. i did trade wines for steel so far--- but i stupidly traded this 2 turns before we were going to learn steel anyway.

i decided to secure the rubber with a colony- i calculated that it would be the fastest way to get production rolling. I also established the south american city (leipzig?) in a suboptimal location to keep the egyptions from settling there. -- i rushed a harbor here with our gold hoard and have a worker roading his way to where the colony will be. I have another settler on the way to secure the colony and an additional rubber.

thanks! and thanks for the tips earlier as well.

I traded Steam power before so that our opponents would get rails up -- makes it easier to steamroll them when the blitzkreig gets going :D

EDIT: to be continued
