I suggest you try Emperor LKendter; I've been playing in my first Emperor game of late and it has not been that tough. In fact, I was almost disappointed at how easy it was; if every Emperor game is as easy, I may need to start playing Deity regularly!

Bombardment.....variation to allow bombardment units to be lethal, and make them the only usable offensive units. You can use others for clean-up and one to capture cities, but the arty must kill all other units in the city. Level doesn't matter.....

I generally just play diety so emperor is fine. Depending on the start it can be quite challanging and it is easy to blow a game with a few egregious errors.

Always war? Never tried it but it limits a lot of potential gameplay options. It is not as difficult as it sounds (at least it seems to me) because you have such an plethora of leaders and the AI blows at fighting.

World Map and trying for a Military win as America? Would depend on the difficulty lvl. Emperor Diff would be good.

I would like to get my feet wet in the world of succession games so would be loose for anything really.

Does that mean you want to play if the choice is Emperor?

@meldor - This would be almost impossible.
No way I want to have to depend on catapults.
I don't know if I could win this on at Cheiftan

I would give a go at any Always War SG.

World Map as America does sounds interesting as well.

As to Emperor, I has nothing against it. The only reason I have yet to try at Emperor level is I prefer to start on equal footing. And in my own mod every unit needs pop point so Emperor will be a major disadvantage to the player.

Nothing wrong with the lower difficulty lvls. In someways it really depends on how anal retentive one is.

Meldor, I also have thought about doing a lethal bombardment conquest-only game, where no unit is allowed to attack EVER. At the moment though, I'm holding off on varient stuff to do some normal games.

I guess I failed to say that I would be happy to participate in an of the games.

I think the bombardment would be great, sorta like the musketeers. I left the option for one atack unit as I was uncertain if a cat could capture an undefended city even with lethal bombard on. I know they can't do so now.

Mainly I am interested in any game were the players are willing to stick to the game to the end. I can accept an occassional skip, as I do spend a lot of time out of town on business. However, the drop rate in a lot of the current games is pretty bad. I am guessing that a lot of people hit the wall at finals time, or some just couldn't stand waiting for their next turn to come up.

I agree that the drop rate has been bad recently.
I caught several players with school delays.
Plus you have several people start a lot of games at once - the time commitment for 500BC is a lot different then 1900 AD.

World Board Game Championships? I had no idea such a thing existed. If it's coming to Baltimore this summer, perhaps I will have to have a look at it.

If it is on a map that is bigger that the standard hugh (like marla's map), how about upping the optimum city number?

Well I am quite shock that this choice won!
I am surprised there is that much demand for that difficult of a game.

AS STATED: The game may not start until Monday Night / Tuesday morning after the holiday.

LK - Emperor is not as difficult as you think. I have the feeling that after this game you will be comfortable playing on all levels but Deity.
