Alternate History Thread IV: The Sequel

Panda: Hi!

Germanicus: I'd discourage you from applying for Arcadia, as it's already going to be a brutal decision process for that state.

Flavius: Take your pick. Thanks for being understanding.

NK: Traditional "fat cross" cities. If I'm going to do this I want to feel as comfy/nostalgic as possible. :p

To all players, I can say that as of now ONLY the following reservations are confirmed: Dachs as the HRE, NK as Flanders, and Azale as Japan, for the assistance that they've provided with the [not]TL. If you're not the only player applying for your first choice nation, have a second choice in mind.

NK's speed is advancing my start date for the preview thread by one week. Applications will turn to reservations once the preview thread is go. Preview thread will be a showcase for stats, reservation confirmations, let me make last-minute stat changes, and answer any questions before we go to full launch mode. Optimistic ETA for official launch is the 21st.

My decision was solely based on what I got from the last ten pages, which did not provide much, and I still haven't found out where the original list and the history of the world to that point.

Since I have had experience with England and most of her dominions, Canada included, I just chose the color that England was under. Or in this case Arcadia, which appears to be Canada. :crazyeye:

My other decision would be France, as I did well with France in Lucky's NES fighting and beating England at sea with my outnumbered and outgunned navy and staring down Germany while keeping Spain, Portugal, Italy and North Africa, including Egypt in French possession despite numerous setbacks.

This is basically all we have. das never made a formal timeline, it was just a bloody guess the PoD map.

Ahh, I see, did not think that was the time line... Thanks.

After reading through it, France seems to be a good challenge for me, so I will officially make a claim for France. And drop my claim on Arcadia.

hmh since armenia was taken already I'd express interest in whatever nations there is in mesopotamia and persia. Thayli could you give me some more info on those before I make my call?

I recommend that when we start a new Alternate History Thread that we adjourn discussion on Thlayli's NES to a thread of its own. :p

I'm not sure das ever promised anything like a TL. :p

Well I'm expecting it of him nonetheless, even if only in reduced, summarized form.

@Andis: You've got your Shi'ite theocracy in Mesopotamia, your typical Jihadist-oriented caliphate in Arabia, and I'm not really sure about Persia...except that it's a lot more Turkic than OTL. Also, you could still take the Republic of Adana in southern Anatolia, or the Despotate of Ionia. Both are small but have good potential.

Well so far the "more Turkic" persia sounds the best, but I'm still not sure if I'd take it over shi'te mesopotamia. for the moment i reserve both until more information appears ;)

I'll apply for Portugal if your still looking for someone. But I may want a smaller nation.

I would like to be assigned to a country please.

ON-TOPIC: If Manchu did not conquer China, Industrial revolution 1700???

FC, take any of the "interesting second-tier powers" I listed earlier. Find something you REALLY want to play.

Can someone point me to the metrics that Symphony did a while back, with increased troop quality levels having exponentially higher costs? At some point this was adapted into a NES, bonus points for digging that up.

I can't believe that this TL hasn't been made into a NES in all the time I was gone...

But you all look like you're doing some fine work. I believe that Das said that I was interested in quirky, small, potentially suicidal nations.

The Knights of the Nile?

But also expressing interest in Australia perhaps...

Are you sure this can be well represented statistically in a NES?
