Hmmm....

Really hard to call on tanks / flight. Every item researched brings us closer to starting the space race.

However, we definetly need to hit the point of STOPPING research. Our research is pulling the world foward.

It boils down to I didn't up the science factor enough, and we are paying the price. Factories in 1300s should NOT happen with regent.

As for Flight/tanks issue. Flight is a necessity with our current state. Airports will allow quick deploment around our nation, as transports will only slow us down once we have the initial push from the japan/chinese coast lines.

So i will only research Flight then shut it off. Tanks are nice, but infantry/Arty stacks will be very nice and deadly on this map.
 
Artillery does have the problem that it can't airlift.

Of course, with our cash flow - we could rush a few at the front lines. On of the tricks is to get some factories going in Asia / South America. Let them build the Artillery, and the mainland build cavalry / infantry.

The big thing for use this game - cashflow! We need to keep rushing in South America to build a nice base there. A possibility not talked about - Taking out the Aztecs!

Reinforcements off Two fish are waiting on the destroyer Near lonley Island. They should be dispatched to reinforce the indian campagin.
Transport near More Spices is moving to Indian Traitors/Dye town.
The 2 Transports near the old japanese cities :D are for dropping the settler and some infantry on the chinese mainland to setup a town for our eventually assault there.

Cairns was being used as a staging point for the invasion force, There is still a transport there with 2 calavary loaded up. That is also where all the transports where headed to.
As for the cities, First goal was to get as many banks online then start military/shield production. GA should be ending soon, not really sure when it will.

We should switch to Monarchy or Communism ASAP. I'm not really sure which would be better for us as i have never used communism and i have only used monarchy a few times.

Well have fun :) ALL our core cities are in FULL MILITARY production.

@LK cash isn't a problem anymore :D, As for arty.. oh yeah.. hehe i forgot about that. I have gotten to used to Killers mod :(

Though about the Aztecs, SA post needs the factory rushed there either this turn or the next ( i forgot about all our SA cities ) then once thats done rush the airport. We have Brisbane switched to Airport atm. I was planning on letting the other cities finish up another set or 2 of infantry/arty then switching them to airports just in case something bad happens. ( Like china deciding they want a peice of us :( )
 
I got it, but it will take awhile. I am home with the family this weekend, and CT4 / LK27 both are due.

:confused: Why couldn't this happen on a weekend when I am NOT home?
 
A recent incident in on of my succession games has made me realize that I am suffering from Civ3 burnout. I have been beating myself up for the last few days trying to figure out why it happened – this alone is not a good thing.

Trying to figure things out I have realized

1) In the last few games I am finding myself becoming too possessive of my games to the point of it being detrimental to the games. I have always been critical of bad moves (IE - why are we developing a tile no city can use?) - but recently I have become critical of moves that are not clearly bad.
2) I was pissed this weekend when 3 of the games I am came due. I have limited at home time with traveling out of town for work. I need to get to the point this can't happen again.
3) The really bad one real life frustration is creeping into my Civ3 message board posts .
4) Due to time constraints I am finding myself needing to actively post, not just read, these boards at work. Not a good situation with a boss who hates the Internet.
I could list more, but this is enough to explain my thoughts.

I will close out the games I am currently playing in. However, expect some skips - especially when I am on vacation from 7/26/02 to 8/4/02. Nothing has disgusted me on these boards more then seeing someone start a game, then putting no effort to see the game complete.

Based on this the LK series will be going into very limited mode after the current group finished – mostly games I don’t play in. It sounds weird, but the game I am enjoying the most right know is LK28 where I am not an active player - even with the need to review the game every couple of days.

(0) 1400 AD - We are very cash heavy thanks to the GA. I go on a massive buying spree on the islands and in SA.
Recover ~$130 by selling wm.
(I) Greece / Zulu peace treaty.


(1) 1405 AD - I ship the workers from Hill Village to help the other nearby islands.
I give Egypt combustion - I get Radio, $1554, wm, $40/turn.
Map trading not even worth the bother.
(I) I start the FP in South American Post - This will create us a power base in South America.


(2) 1410 AD - Satsuma is captured - Japan still won't give up the 2 island cities.
Egypt is cash heavy again - so I up deals for dyes, coal.
Token cash for wm. It looks like it has worn out it's value.
(I) The golden age is over :(
War weariness kicks in - I suspect less Luxury effect with GA ending.


(3) 1415 AD -
(I) Persia / Greece trade embargo ends.


(4) 1420 AD - Babylon spices ends - Instead sell them to Joanie for $20/turn.
(I) Germany / Rome peace treaty.
Iron for Horses & $/turn with Egypt dropped in value.


(5) 1425 AD - Kagoshima falls - I get one of the island cities - Tokyo and Nagaski in Siberia.
We have TEMPORARY peace with the world.
Desert Filler is formed.
The age of Cavalry is almost over - so I sell America SaltPeter for $62/turn.
(I) Greece / China trade embargo ends.


(6) 1430 AD - Brisbane really does rock - I can build a fighter every turn.
Plant spy in India failed.


(7) 1435 AD - Repeated attempt, another faield spy.
We may have to go for Ms. Cleo soon - clearly the tech leader right know.
I give here flight, we get mass production, $43/turn, $2410
I cancel our RoP with India - we will never get another if we declare war and break a RoP.
ALWAYS CANCEL ALL DEALS BEFORE DECLARING WAR.

I contact Mr. Ghandi and tell him the bad news.
ARGGGGGGGGGG - I hate just seeing 8 civs at a time. I missed India mpp with Babylon. We lost our oil supply.
I decide to stir up the waters - I give Persia $1900 (1 turns income) to ally with us vs. Babylon.
Ganges is razed.
(I) India declares war on Persia :satan:


(8) 1440 AD - New Bangalore is razed - that city location was just annoying.
Lagash is capture - no other Bab cities around - should be safe.
New Madras is captured - hey, size 1 should hold.
Find a worker for sale, but can't figure out a new source of Oil.
Luxuryville is formed - sad part, the only civs that could use them are broke.
(I)India / Greece peace treaty.


(9) 1445 AD - India better be nervous - a real SoD crossed his border by Bombay - it even include a settler to a replacement

city.
I buy another worker - this time from Persia. Worse case, we can ship some of the workers to the islands that need help.
(I) Well if he had anything useful, I would be upset about a German / India trade embargo.


(10) 1450 AD - Bombay is razed, but a Demonic musketman cost us 2 cavalry - a unit type we are light on.
Persia suddenly needs Iron - Babylon cut there ONLY source!

The fleet below Dacca is to invade Babylon and hopefully get a permanent oil source.
The units collect by South American Post are to take the Babylon city in South America.

Our cashflow is so good - we can afford 1 turn rush - rush worker for $80, then switch to real building and rush.
Avoids the double cost penality for the large build. I built an artillery reserve in SA that way.

Summary - Concentrated on getting the island cities up to modern defender, with marketplace and aqueduct.
We need 2/3 pop also for domination. May as well get them to size 12 to help from that side of the equation.

Map trading is starting to fizzle - though a diplo check every other turn is still good.

I have a transport with 3 settlers to claim the islands around Lee's Secret Island.

The good news - some civs are crippled and can wait to last.
Greece, India (i/p), Japan, Rome
At this point we don't have to take the civs out, just cripple them from any chance at a space race.
As an example - Bombay was a high production city - I cut

@ALL - Don't bother building universities - we don't plan to research that much - these put us at risk for a culture win.

@meldor - how goes this.


@All - I realize these are going to become slow turns. Just using up our absurd cash alone takes time - I can't tell you how much I spend getting SA going. I starting rush near SE Asia to get more settlers / artillery available.

However, please post partial status if it will take you more then 48 hours - at this point it is very hard to tell a potential skip
 
I am at work so I can't post partial results. I am about half way finished. Preforming two pronged attack on Babylon. Rushing units and infra in SA to be ready for FP. We have a market in the rubber for the world. Once we have a secure foothold in Asia, we need to hit all of the civs that still have rubber. No rubber, no Ship Parts. Of course the other benefits will help as well. This should be our next major goal.
I am going to turn off animations and as much eyecandy as possible. It is taking 1/2 hour per turn at a minimum and I am playing on a 1.7gig processor.
BTW, if you think we have extra cash right now wait until the patch comes out. It should up our cash on this map by a bunch. 25% more optimal cities and extra commerce for cities and metropolises.

On the partial results - the below would be good enough:
Complete 5 turns, beat up India, city flipped to us. Meldor's report was find. I just want to know you are alive and kicking.

On cash - consider this - we have 11 cities in SA that will start pumping out more cash soon after the FP completes. This is without the two bab cities in SA - which we should get soon. I rushed aqueducts in many of the islands cities - we should be grabing a lot more coast / sea squares for even more cash. The key is to keep spending it somewhere. Meldor did a lot if SA, I did a lot on the islands and artillery near SE Asia.


Aluminum is the key for space ship parts, but SS Exterior casing needs rubber. Better with rubber - no AI tanks!

Another key goal with Babylon - secure horses.

@Meldor - Did we do anything to India?

Based on Melor's limited rubber thoughts along with my kick the best tech civs - why I chose India (holding there own in tech) - EGYPT tech leader an multiple rubber sources.
Make sure we cancel any RoP and deals before declaring war - the longer we can keep our rep - the easier our job

I am finishing the last turns now, gpt is running +2000 per turn. Haven't DL'ed patch yet, it can be patched for the next turn. India crippled.
 
1450 AD (Pre-turn)
Russia and India sign a trade embargo against us. The Indians found a city next to our Cav and Inf SoD....how long will that last?

1455 AD (1)
Sign RoP with Persia. Move units to put pressure on Ashur and pull Babylonian defenders out of place. New Indian city gone. Found some cities. One in Indian territory that has two spice in its radius. Rome and India sign a trade embargo against us. Rome and Babylon sign a trade agreement against us. China and America sign an MPP.

1460 AD (2)
India brings its Cav and Infantry out of its territoy to attack our units near the Babylonians. I have units marching on their capitol and fixin to take another of their cities and they are over there? How dumb. We are set to cream the Babs. but a new source of oil appears in the outback. It took me a minute to find it as it appeared directly under Bathurst!

1465 AD (3)
Bombard Indian city. Bad luck with RnG on northern front. Trade embargo against us between China and Japan ends.

1470 AD (4)
We capture Mycenae from the Babs in SA with 2 workers. Capture Merv from the Babs in SA with 5 workers. Kolhapur is bombed and razed, we only get two workers out of it. Buy motorised transportation, had to do it, cost 2200 from China. Changed all military production to tanks. We must hit China within a few turns before they start building tanks themselves. The Aztecs and China sign an MPP. That really isn't that bad, as nailing both of them would be good for us.

1475 AD (5)
Lee's task force land in Babylon. We are pushing to the Indian capital. We approach the last Bab city in SA. The first tanks land in Asia. We will also begin loading some transports to take the Chinese island cities (there are three that we can take). The Russians declare war on us, even with an RoP in place. they do it to attack one of our 1 shield siberian towns, and they fail to capture it.

1480 AD (6)
We capture Nimrud and the Babs are no longer on the South American continent. Lee's task forced wiped out except one lousy cav. The RnG is treating us rough vs. Babys near their home front. Kill three Russian infantry. Rush an extra infantry in the two towns threatened by the Russians. The northern attack force pulls out of Persia and begins pillaging Russsia. Babylon and Persia sign a peace treaty. Greece and Germany end the trade embargo against us.

1485 AD (7)
We bombard and then raze the Indian capital of Delhi getiing 15 workers out of the deal! Units move on the next Indian city.

1490 AD (8)
It is a standstill with Russia right now, and nothing is happening with Babylon. We meet with Babylon and take peace for one of their cities. India will give us two puny cities, but not the tech they have even though we are fixin to pound another of their cities. The Russians do have a mini-SoD of 23 riflemen. We have held them off while mustering tanks to smack them. Germany and Russia sign a trade embargo. Big deal Biz is always broke anyway.

1495 AD (9)
We capture Magnitagorst from Russia, Edo flips to the Japanese! We had temple and Cathedral!

1500 AD (10)
Raze Novogorod. Bombard Madaras down to size one. Tanks are streaming into Asia. There are three transports with four tanks each to hit the Chinese islands when the time comes. I am attacking bigger Russian cities, they are attacking Siberia. We will lose one city there this interturn, my bad. Income without patch +2084gpt. I didn't do any rushes this turn or diplo. The FP is due in 2, I cut off a couple of turns mining a mountain.
