LK26 - World Map

@D9phoenix - The outback plans make sense.
However, when rails are coming I move 100% of my workers to help rail cities - The reason for my reaction - workers not available to lays rails.

Wall is being built in a city with a factory now, with workers improving the terrain.

Just some advice-
1. Why dont you guys upgrade to that special unit so attacking a country will be easier.
2. Build a better navy heed my warning or some other civ with Frigates is gonna blow your transports out of the water.

Good luck!

@Meldor
48 hours since "got it". OVERDUE.
How is this monster going?

1150 AD (Pre-turn)
This late and we haven't started our first war? We are behind the eightball for sure. We need to get going and Japan does look like a good choice. Secondary options would be to continue operations in South America. If we get a strong enough base of cities there it may well be better to put the FP there. Also as a third background mission is to settle out the islands in the pacific. Of course the rails must be taken care of somewhere in there. I find one city in riot but it will settle down next turn. It is hard once the cities get this many to catch every growth, unless you spend 15-20 minutes a turn on just city issues. First order of business is to get at least 3 Caravels of invasion fleet going toward the lower Japaneese islands. It is too late in the game to be only expanding by our own cities. One note for newer players, don't mine hills that can't be worked, and railroad the tiles that the city is currently using first. little things mean alot.
(I) Rome and Greece sign a peace treaty. I will not give the blow by blow city production items as it has gotten too large. We will only do highlights. Also I will not mention worker issues as well. You may assume that they will first, railroad tiles to connect cities, second, railroad tiles that are already improved, and last, work new tiles -improvement,rod, rail. Saltpeter Colony is founded and starts a harbor. This will be rushes next turn after one shield drops the price. It then can make a worker to get its saltpeter online for us.

1160 AD (1)
Going price for map is 12g except Frace and Iroquois who give 13g. At least those that can afford it. No workers. Rush temple in meat factory.
(I) Cleo wants an MPP with us, instead since our deal with her has expired, I redo it and we get horses and slatpeter for iron and 4gpt with an RoP. ?This saves us 36gpt. The Iron Works completes in Brisbane. It then starts a factory that will complete in 5 turns at 51 shields per turn.

1170 AD (2)
Going price for map 13g, no workers. Rush some things, but I am keeping at least 2K in the treasury for war expenses. I will probably raise this to 3k as the war nears. At ~600gpt income, this won't be too hard.
(I) Two additional notes....if you want to use governor during your turn, fine, just turn the darn things off before you pass the game on. This is now the second SG that has governors turned on. Second, we have several islands that have little to no shields and can't get them until you no what freezes over, why are we building barracks on this islands? Build culture improvements so they eat more squares. We have better cities to rush build military in and until airports it will be too much trouble to collect the usits up. It will also be way out there when offshore platforms come along that this islands will have more than two shields to rub together.

1180 AD (3)
Going price 11g, no workers. We have no escorts for our invasion fleet! I order up 4 ironclads. They will be rushed next turn. The real war can't start until all the factories complete, but we can secure the lower island before then.
(I) Sleep..perchance to dream.....

1190 AD (4)
Going price 11g, no workers. Rush escorts for attack force. Both Galleons are loaded, 7 Cav and 1 settler. Will build the treasury up while they sail. First target Nagoya. Yokahama can't be taken until marines.
(I) Cangrats, we just got our first polution! I give you one guess, thats right, Brisbane!

1200 AD (5)
OUr ironclads move to join up with the first expeditionary forces. The clock is ticking.
(I) Not much, Greek archer seen in SA, but no settler.

1210 AD (6)
Ironclads gather off Nagoya. Troops on the way. We turn Science down to get 1042g for one turn. Funny, the AI still wants 50g for electricity. We get it in one turn and gain 450 extra gold, go figure.
(I) We get electricity and start replaceable parts, due in 12 turns. The Greeks begin Unversal Sufferage.

1220 AD (7)
Troops are still moving it will be a couple of more turns before we can strike. The factories at home are starting to come online and we will be ready to go into wartime production.
(I) America and China sign an MPP.

1230 AD (8)
The troop ships and the escorts are now joined south of the target. More and more the homeland gears up for war. Trade Joan 700g for Espionage. I finally get a worker, pay 30g for a fine chineese fellow. I love Espionage, knowing how many and were the enemy has its troops when needed is great. I will start the CIA. I will start it in Derby once wall street is finished.
(I) Not much, a couple of offers for MPPs.

1240 AD (9)
The fleet is off the shores of Nagoya, but I will be unable to take the city. I will be able to start the war however, as I am sure that Japan will request we move.
(I) Japan requests that we move our troops, I assure them they will indeed move next turn....just not in the direction they wanted. We get Wall Street and start on the Intelligence Agency. The Americans, the Iroquois, and the Aztecs start Universal Sufferage.

1250 AD (10)
In a last ditch effort to avoid war, I make a generous offer for peace and only want Nagoya, Nara, and Yokohama. He counters with a piteous 3g instead. Negotiations are broken off. We are at war!

I did not do any diplo (except with Japan) so before you hit enter, do a round. Settler is nearing Hawaii. In South America, go for max food. When the pop is there for a settler/worker, just rush it and rush the escort. I left a war treasury of over 4K. Spend it wisely. There really wasn't much to rush as factories are too expensive for that. Have fun with Japan, there cities seem to be guarded by spears (at least the isolated ones). I would advise taking Japan down to their last mainland city and then take their island cities for peace. The one square islands we can't invade without marines.

Save Game 1250 AD

[EDIT] Had to take out extra CRs. I guess it didn't like my copy and paste.

10 turn rounds - 24 hours for got it.
48 hours total time to complete turn

We have factories, don't push science past ToE.
We are moving too fast to the modern age - Space age is enabled!
We can't stop the whole world from winning a space race.
NOTE: We don't want scientific method to be available until us is completed.
I don't want the AI to cascade to ToE
Once we have ToE - shut off research - time is NOT on our side.

@Meldor - I have the same CR problem. If you are using notepad with word wrap - shut it off before copying your text.

Replaceable parts? OK - Next tech is Scie Method! I want the ToE.

First 4 turns - preturn tok longer than other turns just gonig around the map to see what was what. Will finish up within 24 hrs.

Like Meldor, I am only going to mention building & diplo highlights.

1250AD preturn drop luxuries 10% increase science 10% Trade WM around net 108 gold. Renegotiate selling iron to France raise the price from 52 gpt to 116 gpt. Renegotiate selling coal to Egypt raise price from 42 gpt to 66 gpt + get Cleo's treasury of 182 gold. Renegotiate spice trade with Babs, raise price from 8 gpt to 24 gpt. Up science another 10%.
(I) Germay & Japan sign trade embargo against us.
Chinese start ToE :(
Germany declares war on us (MPP with japan kicks in)

1255AD A quick check shows at least France and Chna with Sci Meth. I am going to wait a couple of turns till Brisbane is ready to build ToE before trading for Sci Meth.
Nagoya is captured by our Cavalry and we move on to next island.
(I) Egypt & Russia start ToE. India starts Universal Sufferage.

1260AD sell WM for 90 gold. Try to renegotiate iron trade with Aztec and they do not want to pay for it (lose 15 gpt) will see if they will deal next turn. (they must have a city built on a lump of iron since I dont see any connected to them)
Troops land and prepare to attack next Japanese city.
(I) Greece & Germany sign an alliance. Greece declares war on us. China & Germany have a trade embargo against us. Persia & Germany have a trade embargo against us. French start Universal Sufferage.

1265AD Nara captured.
(I) Russia & Greece have a trade embargo against us.

1270AD Buy Replaceable parts from Cleo for 218 gold. Trade Replacable parts +262 gold to Joan for Sci Meth. Trade replaceable parts to gandhi for 34 gpt + 87 gold.

** to be continued **

Well have Toe in progress. Can we cancel science?

We need to slow DOWN the tech pace at this point, or we LOSE.

Brisbane (over 100 shields per turn) will start ToE this coming turn. I delayed a little to try and sync with Uni Suf finish. Also will learn ToE just after we learn corporation. We need a much larger navy. Our invasion fleet is 3 galleons and 3 ironclads :crazyeye: With a fourth Galleon ironclad pair just launched.

I almost feel like making peace with Japan just to give us a few turns to finish up the factories and start churning out the units, it is going to take a few turns just to get to Japans mainland holdings. If Greece or Germany is closer on the mainland I just might go after them instead.

We can probably finish Japan with just Cavalry.

Move vote - cream Japan.

Brisbane should build all future wonders! That is to many shields even for military - could it get to a battle ship a turn?

We don't have to total wipe out the Japanese right now. I would even suggest that we make peace when they are down to only the siberian cities and take the island cities that we can't invade before marines. These not only will give us more coverage for Domination but will save time on later piddly invasions. We should be able to take all of their main islands with just the 7 cav we sent, and maybe a few extra, depending on how many Sammies he built.

[Edit] We can not afford to stop warring now if we plan on winning by conquest or Domination. I know that the invasion force is small, but it was all I could mount on my turn without killing facoties, and it was critical to get a war going, any war. Watch the Eurpeans to make sure they don't try to attack the SA holding.

Regarding South America - I say rush some cavalry, and take the Greek cities! I think there are at least 2 Greek cities there. They will probably have hoplites at best to defending. A fp in South America wouldn't be bad. Plus, we can continue to push toward ownership of SA.

Regarding Japan - What island cities? I know China has a lot of them, but what does Japan have?

On the Domination theme - we still want settlers to the islands - we want to keep rushing settlers in South America.

I have upped science factor again for the next game. We are hitting the industrial age way to early.

The trouble is we must head into Asia. I think India is weak this game. We need to get the factories on-line in Asia.

The one that I know of off the top of my head is Yokohama. It is a one square island and we can not take it with conventional forces. I don't recall any others, but there are a bunch of unoccupied islands and others may pop up.

I agree with a possible SA FP. At this point it will take a Great Leader in either location.

Yokohama is only one I saw. Killed a sammi in second town I took. I will hit main japanese island. Also I have another Galleon lagging a few moves behind the main fleet.

Maybe we should hold off on building the military acadamy until we can do it on the mainland since armies cannot be airlifted.

** 1270AD continued **
(I) Persia begins Uni Suf.

1275AD Brisbane starts ToE (due in 6 turns) Map trading limited to 6 countries with money not at war with us nets 61 gold. France and India need rubber, I do not trade it to them. Will check to see if France or India might be hooking up to rubber, if so will trade it to them. America lacks saltpeter.
(I) America & Germany trade embargo against us.
India starts ToE

1280AD I've been working on the railroad.
(I) German troops enter our territory by Fishing village/Indian Trator.

1285AD Learn Corporation. set sci to 0%. Start on Atomic Theory with scientist.
Swap ToE to Canberra and Uni Suff to Brisbane.
Our ANZAC wounds a german cavalry causing it to retreat. GA not triggered.

Germany came at us through Indian territory so I talk to Gandhi we trade WM's and I give gandhi 157 gold for an alliance vs german. India declars war on Germany. I talk to Hammy we trade WM's I give Hammy 3 gold and he signs an allience vs the Greeks with us. Babs declare war on Greece.
I trade the WM around to other countries and net 47 gold.

We have the rubber market cornered :) I am not trading it but we have 4 to trade and several not hooked up yet [dance]
(I) Zulu's want us to give them 54gpt for a MPP & ROP. Instead I give Shaka communism for alliances vs the Germans & Greeks. Zulu's declare war on Germany & Greece.

Canberra builds ToE. We learn Atomic theory & Electronics. Canberra starts on cathedral. No cascade.
India's elephants kill germans by Indian Trator :) (kinda fitting)

1290AD Railing and sailing. Hard Bean founded on top of iron deposit in SA. Another settler in SA is OTW to a saltpeter site.

(I) Babs & India sign a MPP. India declares war on Greeks. Babs declare war on Germany.

1295AD Troops land next to Tokyo. Off shore bombardment reveals at least 2 samii in Tokoyo.
(I) A sammi dies attacking our cavalry.
Rome and Zulu alliance vs German. Rome declares war on German.
German asks us for peace. We have alliance with India vs Germany so we remain at war.

1300AD Bombardment of Tokyo has no effect. Load injured Cavalry and settler back on boat an sail outside Japan Boundary. Railing & Sailing.

I left the troops fortified on a mountain outside of Tokyo. More troops arrive next turn.
I have not sold our map in a couple of turns and did not do Diplo this turn.

The Greeks just built a city close to Nice Mountain in SA. I have an infantryman going there to wipe it out. He is not on a goto.
Also settler/knight combo is about where I would build a city to get another saltpeter for us.

In SA I was using SA Post and Meat to produce defenders and the other cities for settlers. was doing a lot of rushing in SA.

Here it is: Australian Domination

In SA I was using SA Post and Meat to produce defenders and the other cities for settlers. was doing a lot of rushing in SA.

:goodjob:

This is a key area for us!
The only thing I would like is some units to take the Greeek cities in SA. ~0% flip risks, and every city counts ;)

JJ has created a world war mess - just need to drag China into it. A bunch of AI Civs fighting slows down the tech pace, which works in our favor. It also helps thin out the total number of units on the map.

What we need to avoid is a furious world at us - NO FALSE PEACE TREATIES - If we sign peace with Japan to get the Island, then 20 years of peace. Don't break alliances or MPP by peace treaties with the enemy - cancel the alliances / MPP first.

There is still one has lots of action here - including mass rushing in South America (still a lot of land to acquire - I suspect we should rush a few workers though), snagging a few more islands, taking over Japan, finishing infrastructure. If we can take the Greek cities, rush workers until the cities are size one - better then starving. We are still very short of workers in South America. We could probably rush a few workers in captured cities from Japan to.

I am already thinking about the next world map game - play as Brazil. I am proposing a really different unique unit - jungle worker (a faster moving worker - treats all terrain as roads!)

I would recommend that we get tank and flight before we turn off research or we won't have the blizt attack and also the capacity to quickly transport our troops from our core cities in Australia to the mainland. Using transport is ok for the first landing and assault but not for subsequent push and reinforcement.

Here is the savegame.
