LK59 - Simply Deity

Buy Economics and Physics from Sumeria for our only iron
The next turns will be scary - if that iron runs out our rep is screwed.

I see it - playing time will depend on laptop repair. It is scheduled for today, but with the bad weather...

The severe weather has screwed up getting my laptop repaired. If it gets repaired today I will be severely overloaded with things to do. I am going to swap with Mad-bax and hope by then the laptop situation is fixed.

Remember 10 turns per round - STRICT 24 hours got it, total 48 to complete.

This conflicts with another SG I must play tonight - They've been waiting longer. I can play tomorrow, but maybe Lee would like someone who is able to take it tonight.

Therefore I will not post a got it until 4PM GMT tomorrow, just before I play.

@Aggie - I have no problem at all with you not playing. I never like to swap more then one person ahead.

I apologise but I have been unable to play due to putting a new hard drive in a friends computer (yes the same one). I think my 48hrs are just about up, and I can't play now until tomorrow night. I have looked at the save and started the next turn, but quickly realised I was too tired to play tto the standard you would demand. I'll play tomorrow night unless I'm skipped.
Again I'm sorry, but sometimes things get in the way.

I don't know what is going on with my laptop and C3C. I have sufferred multiple blue screens of death trying to get C3C to work after they installed the new motherboard. I am not even going to try a swap - skipping this round.

Lee, as to your comp, in my experience as support, there are most often one of two reasons for the BSODs. ( Blue screens of Death ).

Number one is graphics drivers. Most people know about this, so often this is the first thing to try. This is of course not always easy to find out which drivers to use on a portable.

And number two, which is often forgotten is the soundcard. If you turn off all sounds, and stop getting the BSODs, this is the reason.

>>THE GAME<<

450AD: Pre-turn. Can't afford navigation yet.

IBT:
Russians start Newtons

460AD:
Well, this turn TOG and Magnetism are learned. I have to try to get them. I pretend we're rich by turning lux down and hiring some temporary tax-men. I can buy TOG but since Russia and Sumeria both have it I may not be able to afford Naigation or Magnetism. I cannot afford either of them for cash now anyway. No trades done.

470AD:
Same situation prevails.

480AD:
Still can't afford it.

IBT:
Sumeria and Vikings sign MA against Korea.

490AD:
Probably building too much infra. At this rate we are never going to be able to afford a tech.

500AD:
Maya Learn MT. We still cannot afford magnetism or Navigation. Am I doing this all wrong? Should I just buy TOG for all our gold and swap it out for MT? I might have to soon.

510AD:
Still can't afford Mag. But I can afford Nav from Korea for 130gpt + 64g. It's expensive and I don't like the deal.

520AD:
So, Russia and Sumeria get Navigation and MAgnetism on the interturn. We can't afford it but I have to act.
Buy ToG from Sumaria for 100gpt + 4g
Buy Magnetism from Korea for ToG and 31gpt and 694g
Sumarians have Nationalism
Russians have steam
The Koreans have Medicine.
Oh for a few shekels more.
The music theory research is a waste of time now IMO we are still 26 turns from it.
I put our scientist to research steam.
Sell ToG to Maya for MT and 24g. Could have got 3gpt too, but not having a 20 turn deal with them is more valuable.

IBT:
Cathy demands territory map. Shame it wasn't Sumaria. I cave.

530AD:
No change.
Korea are in anarchy this turn.

550AD:
The silks deal runs out. Obviously I won't trade this round.

EOT:

Obviously a poor turn. I was unable to buy navigation or magnetism from Korea as both were monopoly, I could buy ToG but then I would only have a twofer for MT which is not good. In the end I was a little unlucky in that Russia and Sumaria got navigation and magnetism on the same inter-turn. Both of them are at war with Korea and must therefore have researched them. Still, we are on the cusp of the Industrial age, we have built most of our banks, and can turn our attention to military. Lisbon and Emerit are making exactly 20 shields for cav.

Korea have all but pushed Sumaria off our continent, and Sumaria are no longer looking too frightening. When we get our iron back we'll need to put a few canon togehter and try to relieve Korea of some of it's more important cities. Please don't lets wait until RP.

Bad link - it is a zip file, not a save file.

I was unable to buy navigation
This is an optional tech. Why where you so worried about buying it?

I wasn't worried about Navigation. I just knew that if I could afford navigation, then within a few turns I would be able to afford magnetism. Navigation in itself is quite useless so long as one civ you have contact with has it.

I wouldn't build libraries yet. We really can't allow our situation vs Korea to persist. My view is that we should build canon and cav and try to take 3 or maybe four core cities from them as a matter of urgency. Korea is getting to a size that we cannot tolerate, particularly since we share the same landmass.

IHT: We are in the modern age and make 77 gpt. Despite big payments towards especially Sumeria. We still have 17 turns of forced peace with Korea. Then the last deal with them will end.
Our culture is a joke. We have less than 1/10 of Russians culture. The Vikings and Mayas could make our tech battle a little easier, since they are backward as well.

We are weak compared to Korea, but still I think that within 17 turns we will have an invincable army to claim all their lands. Korea doesn't have Saltpeter

A couple of cities are on the edge of rioting. I can buy silks from the Maya, who are at war with Sumeria. Still I am certain that they will survive 20 turns, so I give saltpeter to Maya for Silks, 3gpt and 6 gold. Luxury now can easily stay at 10%.

I fire the scientist. We can't afford to wait 47 turns more to get Steam.

I will focus on building bank, harbors and cavalry in the non-corrupt cities.

IT: I forget to check this one  : Korea cancels the ivory deal :( I decide bot to renew it, which means that lux still has to go up next turn. Sumeria and Maya sign peace. Sumeria wants us to join the war vs Korea, but that would ruin our rep.

Turn 1 (560 AD) Coimbra riots and I can prevent other cities from rioting by scroling ahead. Luxury to 20%. The Vikings are in the modern age.

IT: Korea wants us to allie vs the Russians. I decline.

Turn 2 (570 AD) Two banks are finished (Emerita and Leiria).

Turn 3 (580 AD) The Maya now also reached the Industrial age.

Turn 4 (590 AD) Lisbon finished the training of our first cavalry.

IT: Scandinavia and Korea sign peace.

Turn 5, 6 (600, 610 AD)

IT: Scandinavia and Sumeria sign MPP. Sumeria finish Smith in Ur. Scandinavia declares war on Korea.

Turn 7 (620 AD) We are nr one in all important demographics. That is good to know :)

IT: Ther Vikings finish Newton in Trondheim.

Turn 8 (630 AD) We now make 81 gpt and have our iron back.

IT: Korea and Sumeria sign peace. Russia completes Bach in St. Petes.

Turn 9 (640, 650 AD) Sorry, I somewhere lost count :(

All our cavalry is in Faro. All our workers are resting near Oporto. I could make any deals in my ten turns. We have to get it by force from the Korean.

650 AD save

The Vikings are in the modern age.

You better mean industrial age. ;)

7 turns until we can go after Korea? Looks like I might be gearing up for that. Them having Nationalism is bad, though. War with the Vikings should slow them at least a little bit, but it could also mean they have loaded boats right off our shore ready to dump troops on us when we declare.

A good thing for idle workers to do shortly before rails is get to work clearing whatever forests there are and replacing them with mines. I'll start doing that if they don't have anything else to do. Got it, not sure when I can get to it.
