Tmarcl1 – Comments.
This is a Training SG, and making own decisions is greatly appreciated. However, would have done the last turns quite different.
Please take that as positive criticism, not

.
City building orders in 250AD (DocT):
Washington: Sun Tzu’s; open for discussion. Alternatively 2 turn MDIs.
Rome: Barracks; has Temple, will be a frontline city again at some point.
Tenochtitlan: Temple. Absolutely needed.
Teotihuacan: Temple. Needed.
New York: Library; works a 4gpt lake Fish, can work a river tile from Washington if the Capital is set to something else but wonders, has very low corruption. Won’t grow before 14 turns, needs no Granary now, and will of course build MDI @ 10spt after the Library (we’re doing our own research, thus simply need a couple of Libraries).
Boston: Pike; will make insane amounts of commerce when working the Gems, but needs Irrigation before – and Rome needs a Pike
Philadelphia: Granary. Good growth potential (Cow and Fish), will keep growing without happiness problems by hiring a Specialist before we get the Dyes. Can skim of the occasional Settler, and is our best coastal city (coastal = Commerce).
Atlanta: Granary. Growing above 7 without food bonus and without a Granary takes ages. Granary will be helped by chop. Great productive and high commerce city.
Chicago: Worker. Completely agree on Worker/Cat alternating.
Neapolis: Court. What else? Galley isn’t helpful, since the city is too far away from the Aztecs. Harbor is in place already. Temple/Granary? @ 1spt, they need to be rushed anyway. But Pisa builds a Temple that will pull in a Fish and a 2nd mined Hill for Neapolis, and with a Court that city will be able to build everything needed by itself.
Seattle: Granary. Could skim off Settlers easily @ 5fpt. But for this city, Barracks and Military are valid as well, can make 10/14 spt by working forests with slower growth.
Xochicalgo: Temple. Low priority, switching to Galley with wasting 2sp is valid.
San Francisco: Settler. That city can make 8fpt. No great production or commerce potential…Worker/Settlers. Nothing else. Period.
Miami: Court. Wastes 4/9 spt currently. Exactly that type of cities that benefit most from Courts.
Houston: See Miami (wastes 4/7 now).
Pisae: Temple. Sure, needs to be rushed at some point; will claim lots of good tiles (13 total, including a already mined Hill, a Fish, 2 Grass, 2 coast tiles).
Buffalo: Court. Can be speed up by 2 chops. Will be a good commerce city with Court+Harbor+Market+Library.
St Louis: Granary. No particular reason for anything here.
Detroit: Court. 50% corrupt. See Miami.
Viroconium: Harbor. Tundra coast. Would require lots of Worker action otherwise for roads.
Lugdunum: Harbor. Only 1fpt without.
New Orleans: Galley. Too corrupt for anything useful now but rushing ships.
Baltimore: Court. No great choice, agreed. See New Orleans.
Byzantium: Barracks. Then rush some Vet Warrior, then a Harbor and upgrade. Saves a lot of time and ships (is next to the Dyes city and most likely the future FP city, our main goals for the Aztec War)
General:
4.5.1
Engineering in 6; +8gpt (8 to other Civs), 119gp. 42gpt unit support, 36 allowed units.
F3:
29 Worker, 7 Warrior, 3 Swords, 9 Horses, 3 Pikes, 2 Rock throwing thingies, 1 Galley, 7 MDI, 5 ACav, 1 Settler.
Workers are stacked.
City building orders in 350AD (geonnyboy):
Washington: Sun Tzu’s in 10, ok.
Rome: Still on Barracks, ok.
Tenochtitlan: Temple in 4, ok.
Teotihuacan: Temple done, on Barracks. Unless rushed for no real need won’t finish long after the frontline is far away and SunTzu’s completed; with all the Ivory and a lake, will benefit a lot from a Court first (about 50% corrupt) and commercial/scientific improvements.
New York: Has Library; Pike in 3, with growth in 4. Should have gotten a Granary in between.
Boston: Pike in 2. Not bad; but could grow in 1 with better MM. No irrigation so far, but we’re roading another Gem for no need instead.
Philadelphia: No Granary. Builds Horses at 12spt, wasting growth and commerce

.
Atlanta: Has Granary. Horse in 4 (will pick the Iron with growth in 2, make that Horse in 3). City looks fine, comment on Horses see below.
Chicago: Cat in 5, growth and unhappy citizen in 3. Build is fine, but should work the Gems when possible.
Neapolis: Still on Court.
Seattle: No Granary. Builds Pikes @ 9spt

. Has Taxman – when you’re doing research, 3 Beakers are always superior to 2 Coins.
Xochicalgo: Still Temple, ok.
San Francisco: Ugly. Builds regular Pike @8spt…Full food box, 2fpt surplus, no Duct. Settler!
Miami: Has Court. Wastes now 3/9spt, fine. Builds regular Pike…
Houston: Still on Court, ok.
Pisae: Temple. Not rushed so far, could argue about that; no biggie.
Buffalo: Still on Court, ok.
St Louis: Still Granary. Now at size 2 with only 1/4spt corruption; would have made that one a military producer (didn’t expect waste that low).
Detroit: No Court. Galley in 2; ok, we do need ships right now more than another mediocre city
Viroconium: Harbor, ok.
Lugdunum: Harbor, ok.
New Orleans: Galley. Too corrupt for anything useful now but rushing ships. Could have made 2spt by working a forests, allowing newly found Denver to use the Lake and complete a Worker with growth.
Baltimore: Galley, agreed.
Byzantium: Has Barracks. Has 1 Warrior already, fine
New:
Denver: Harbor. Not bad, but could have build a Worker before.
General:
7.2.1
Engineering still in 2; +68gpt (8 from other Civs), 673gp. 70gpt unit support, only 35 allowed units (!) (one more town, one less city – Atlanta dropped below 7).
No new contacts.
Not knowing Engineering did cost a lot of time for river crossing, most likely.:
Plus 1 city.
F3:
21 Worker, 8 Warrior, 3 Swords, 9 Horses, 8 Pikes, 6 Rock throwing thingies, 1 Galley, 7 MDI, 7 ACav.
Workers aren’t stacked.
In other words:
+ 2 Workers, +1 Warrior (in Byzantium, fine), +5 Pikes (fine), + 4 Cats (bad – the sp difference between Trebs and Cats is minimal; better build Trebs directly, and save the cash for upgrading), + zero MDI (!), - 1 Settler.
No Settler or MDI queued; 2 cities build regular units, several cities Horses.
Unit choice:
Horses or Swords are a never-ending discussion. Horses or MDI, however, a no-brainer. Especially when there is almost nothing but Swamp and Jungle in Aztec lands.
That also makes Cats/Trebs questionable (a good choice normally, but near useless for this war, only cost support).
No city spots in 250AD? Here’s a dot map:
http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads8/tmarcl250.jpg
EDIT: Forgot on of the best spots, on the tundra S of Atlanta, to grab the Tobacco.
Ok, I agree, most cities are low priority, except that one S of St.Louis.
But we need at least 4 Settlers for the Aztec war: Malinalco will be autorazed, I want to immediately replace the Dyes city (the war will need some time due to the terrain, so we better get the 4th Lux safely ASAP), and Tlacopan is badly located; should be razed and replaced by 2 cities (1 N and 2 SW).
Shadowed:
(No maps, would be spoiler info)
2 more Civs contacted; one of them backwards, one at tech parity.
Engineering done, minimal research on Monotheism to have gold for upgrades since 3 turns.
9.0.1
Montheism in 47; +112gpt (-8 to other Civs), 300gp. 66gpt unit support, 37 allowed
Plus 1 city.
F3:
21 Worker, 8 Warrior (but -2 regulars), 2 Swords, 9 Horses, 6 Pikes, 2 Rock throwing thingies, 2 Galley, 10 MDI, 7 ACav, 3 Settlers
Queued and finished within the next 2 turns: 1 Settler, 1 Pike, 1 MDI. 5 vet Warriors in Barracks cities to be upgraded.
However, the big difference will be visible when the next cities are founded, thus I play on for a few turns:
370AD sees the founding of 3 more cities; allowed units 42, support 56gpt. 16 MDI.
Couple of Libraries are due soon, then research will pay off again.
430AD sees research turned on, Mono in 5 (we are not first)
Wow, long post.
