LotR discussions

Or, make workers. The next Insecure leader can use all the extra workers to change irrigations to mines. :)

This probably won't affect the game but just in case..... - A note of absence: I will be away from August 6th to 14th. If I am up, please skip me. Sorry for the short notice.

We have a very odd number. 7 people have expressed interest in a sign-up...and a couple others think an open game would be nice. I'm open to suggestions on how to handle it.

Maybe the original 5 can play on Monarch and the open game can be Regent with encouragements to Lee and advruss to play that one?

Anyway, I'm hoping to start two games tonight, but I might be a bit overloaded at the moment, since I couldn't even get to the LotR7 start last night. And after tonight, I'm a bit busy until next Monday.....

Its up to you of course, but I don't think really have to move players. The 'open' option will draw players in IMHO. And if people see me on the list they'll know you don't need to be a very good player to take a shot. :p

This looks like the most erratic variant I have seen yet. I will continue to drop in to see how things are prgressing, and if I can find the time, sign up for the Regent version.

Let the craziness begin.

Thanks ControlFreak. I just finished my turns in the Irrational Iroquois game and had a blast. This is not only one of the most erratic variants to play, it was also one of the most enjoyable. I recommend it to anyone looking for some good clean fun.

Next up: C3C games!!!!

Sign up now. Avoid the rush. Make suggestions and maybe help modify the game parameters a bit. Some preference shown to those who've played in the LotR series before. Only sign up if you know you're getting Conquests ASAP, because I plan to start these the day I get Conquests, which will be the day it hits the stores, which I still hope will be Oct. 28.

LotR 10 Scouting Sid
Civ: Dutch (seafaring and agricultural) 1/4/1 pike as UU
Map size: Standard
Map type: Archipelago and rest random
Civ aggressiveness: Standard
Variants: None
Difficulty: Sid (of course)

LotR 11 Aggressive Demi-god
Civ: TBD
Map size: Standard
Map type: Pangea...rest random
Civ aggressiveness: Highest possible
Variants: None, really -- just the aggressive AIs, which I hope plays out semi-AWish....
Difficulty: Demi-god

I like to have my rosters set when I start a game. And if people have suggestions on civs for LotR 11, I'm interested in hearing them.

Yes, the rest of the LotR series will continue, but I hope all three will be nearly over in a week-and-a-half....

Who's interested? Which game(s)?

So I'm not the only one hoping to get it the day it comes out. ;)
Not to mention LK56 will open the day I have that CD in hand.

You can put me on the LotR11 list. No thanks, I don't want to try Sid when I don't even understand the the differences in Conquest.

Either Lee or Steve have any suggestions/requests on civ to play? Go completely random. Take my gut feel. We're not sure what civ trait changes there might be in C3C, so it's kind of a shot in the dark, but anybody have a civ they'd like to play for historical reasons?

Arathorn

Only comment is one of the new civs, and not the same one as I use for the start LK56 - Time for conquest. I hope LK56 will also start Oct 28 provided the game publishes on time.

In a sense there will be a lot of "new" civs, as several of the traits are being swapped around, and new ones are being added. I assume we're talking new civs in name only.

As for my opinion, I'm really not worried about the settings. For me, this will be an introduction to the changes that C3C brings to the table.

Only one immediate game with Conquests, Lee? Here I was, expecting to see LK56-LK64, one per scenario!

Any idea what civ you're gonna use for LK56? I'm going Dutch for LotR10 and don't particularly care for the Byzantines right now. Leaves us a few options. One of the Meso-American civs, perhaps? Mayans, nearly sight-unseen? What type of game are you looking for? I'm looking for heavy war-mongering/fighting in LotR 11, so I'd like militaristic.....

And I expect to start 3 games of C3C as soon as it comes out...these two SGs and a personal game, probably on deity or demi-god, to get the feel of the changes. But discovering them in public is half the fun!

I know at least one LK56, and more as I think about it. I have learned not to start several at the same time and get stuck with heavy war-mode in to many games at once.

As for the civ, I have no clue at this time. I want to get my hand of the CD, then decide.

Sign me up for LotR10 ...I am almost Dutch ya know ;)
I have some light variant ideas which I need to think more about. Will come back on it.

Hoping the release will truly be simultaneously worldwide

I haven't been following the info about C3C but I assume Sid is a 'beyond Diety' level?
If so then I am interested, but I am having it delivered by mail so I don't know the exact day I will get it.

I had hoped that someone wants to start a 'true' AW game on Demigod, but if that's not the case I would be interested in LOTR11.
I just can not sign up definitively because I don't know if it gets released in Europe in the same week.

Hmm, historical reasons for a Civ... should be pretty obvious in my case.
I don't think that "seafaring and scientific" will be a perfect choice for AW, but we could sink all those enemy galleys with the Dromon :D

Current rosters:

LotR10: Scouting Sid
Arathorn
Skyfish
Gothmog
*OPEN*
*OPEN*

(might well start the 14th due to ROW release and Skyfish...opens the game up to others, too)
Sid level:
40% cost factor
3 starting settlers
5 starting workers
12 defensive units to start, 6 offensive
24 units + 8/city free support (basically NEVER pay unit support)
50% of OCN for human -- killer in terms of corruption, I think

Will be insanely brutal. I expect a loss, especially with the newness of the other changes, but I gotta try.

LotR11: Malevolent Mayans (?)
Arathorn
LKendter
Belisar
Arizona_Steve
*OPEN*

will start Nov. 4, since the "Gone Gold" announcement seems to jive well with that date.

With no strong opinions voiced, I want to try out the enslaving ability of the 2/2/1 30-shield javelineer. Austria might be nice, but we know nothing of them and I'm not up to modifying the game for its initial play...sorry, Belisar.

I've seen a bit of discussion on RBCiv about C3C SGs. Here's a chance to jump in with both feet, semi-blind. But with some great groups!!!!

Either will run with 4, if needed, but I much prefer 5.
