LS Civilization Set

Yeah, getting these sets from Steam seems impossible right now. I have I don't know what versions of all of them except Set V, and it just won't download. There's nothing to unpack in the MODS folder either. Plus, if I don't remain subscribed the MODS disapear from the folder, the actual files. Is that supposed to happen? Please, pretty please Mr LastSword, upload the files to the Civfanatics database. If anyone else has the 9 sets and would be so kind as to put them up on dropbox or something it would make my day. I got 15 days off and I got a major CiV boner. Help me out wonderful community. Thanks.

Thank you so much LastSword, you made my day. I assume these are up to date, yes? And I just want so say that I find your civs to be really top notch and that they have by far the most original UA's and overall game mechanics of all the moded civs around here. You really now how to translate the historic characteristics of those people into game features. Congrats!

Than you very much, LS. Great work!

There are from my project folder, so hot that they are not even available on Steam yet.
I am not adding to much important content anyway (updates is most likely some tweaks or playing with traits), therefore updating them once per 1-2 months should be fine.

Speaking of new content. I have made the Slavery UA, maintainence free units in cost of unhappiness, something I truely wanted and once I have achieved it, it becomes boring and dull. Therefore, Mali has new imba trait, the one this empire truely needs. Right now, the eye of LastSword is looking upon Haida, the last civ stubborn enough to resist all my magic and stay in "meh" tier of gameplay. Set I received mayor icon overhaul, Baray has new effect incoming and I am fighting with Haida.

What is worthy mention, Papal States established 8th religion in this game (it happens 2nd time for me, it is nice for me, because I thought with high Religion flavour they will make no use of UA).

Cherokee... Pocatello was also in game, but he actually knew to not rise his head, successfully becoming city-state-level important civ.

Yaa, at last somebody appreciated my translating historic characteristics into game features. Research time and knowledge of gameplay.

Hmmm, I'm not really sure what to do with the Haida. I'm tempted to say they should get the Gold from kills that Mali no longer has, or maybe that Naval Melee units are able to attack land units. Maybe they should have the culture from capturing cities from old Autocracy. Or possibly all three! That would make them pretty rad, actually.

Naval melee units being able to attack land units is something that would indeed be quite useful. Many an island on an archipelago map have been abandoned forever because a barb camp has been there and it'd be too much effort to build up a force to beat them all back. If a boat could just clear the encampment, that'd be super.

Yeah, I think it is good opportunity to use <CanCombatCoast> tag. I would go further and make naval melee units move along the rivers with <MoveAlongRiver> tag. If only AI would be so nice to use that effectively :(. GoldFromKills is now an effect of Mali UB.

Ideas (<-- My picks):
UU - Trireme - Can Attack Coastal Land Tiles <--
UU - Trireme - Can Move After Attacking <--
UB - Monument - Culture from Plundering Cities <--
UB - Monument - Culture from Great General/Admiral birth
UA - Culture and Food from every melee attack. <--
UA - Culture from Plundering Cities
UA - Naval melee Can attack land units (though Trireme UU -> Privateer would be almost the same)

I like the prospect of making the attacking coasts and moving along rivers part of the UA, along with the culture from plundering cities. UU should be the War Canoe that's a Trireme that can basically reverse-embark into a land unit and heals at double rate in Forest or Jungle. A bit situational and weird, but mechanically, it fits with what they did historically. UB was indeed a bit overpowered, so I like if it gets +1 culture for each General/Admiral birth in the empire.

What a glorious battle.

@edit
I have even plundered Caravan later.
Anyway, rivers are too much. Reverse embark is something that AI will definitely not handle.

UA: Naval melee units can attack land units (+33% bonus against land units). Culture from plundering cities.
UU: Trireme; <I will actually try to encourage swarm of War Canoes: Cheaper to Build + Can Move After Attacking>
UB: Monument; +1 culture per GG/GA born.

Any ideas for Baray (Garden)?

I'll happily look up names if you tell me which Civ this is for. Is it Mali or Haida?

Also, I kinda love the image of a destroyer crawling up the beach to kick some infantry in the face. =]

I am not sure if I understood you, but we are currently re-designing Haida. (UA - Eagle and Raven, UU - War Canoe, UB - Totem Pole).

Oh, I see. I was wondering if the various unique attributes of the Haida had names yet. Apparently they do. Haven't downloaded them yet, alas. If you need a research idiot, just call. =]

Hmm, could you make it to where War Canoes can heal if /adjacent/ to Forest or Jungle? But yeah, being cheaper than Triremes makes sense.

As for Baray, hmmmm. They were artificial reservoirs with arguable spiritual meanings, right? In that case...how about it gives +2 Faith on each Lake/Oasis and +1 for each Farm adjacent to those...and maybe +1 Faith for every two farms next to other sources of fresh water? I dunno. I kinda think that it should be an /improvement/ really, in which case, +2 Faith, +1 culture and food, must be built next to fresh water and becomes a source of fresh water itself. You could just use an Oasis as the graphic until the day comes when a fancier improvement graphic comes along for you.

I actually really like that idea. A UI that gives Fresh Water sources? That could be hugely powerful. Sure, you lose out on a little growth, but if you happened to start in a Desert, you could get huge boosts very quickly. It's sort of enabling the player to create their own rivers, which is kind of awesome. =]

UI creating rivers, I think it was too strong. Hold.
No UI though, Garden actually represents quite nicely the idea of Baray (spiritual ~ agriculture); (bonus to gp ~ ?). Since "no requirements" is a half of bonus, I will add something simple (right now: +10% food kept).

I have added "Heals 10 damage if ends turn adjacent to Forest" to War Canoe. Haida is done. Actually, the policy thing turned out to be more problematic than <CanCombatCoast>. What is more, AI had attacked Barbarian camp, so they should make some use of it.

Because I'm the worst and need everything to be organized, I shall say that I would've personally arranged the sets by theme of civilizations. So basically like this.

Set I (Religious) - Jerusalem, Papal State, Tibet
Set II (African) - Mali, Zimbabwe, Ashanti
Set III (New World) - Olmec, Sioux, Cherokee
Set IV (Asian) - Khmer, Qin, Nepal
Set V (Middle East) - Timurids, Durrani, Phoenicia
Set VI (Ancient Kingdoms) - Numidians, Gallia, Hittites
Set VII (Islanders) - Tahiti, Scotland, Haida
Set VIII (Ukrainian Horselords) - Hetmanate, Tatars, Scythia
Set IX (Eastern Europe) - Romania, Bulgaria, Lithuania

Not perfect, of course, Scotland is certainly a bit of an odd duck in any of these really, but I'd do that to give all of the sets a bit more identity and flavor beyond just a number. Of course this is just me talking from my probably OCD-ish perspective ^^;

In any case, it's good that the AI can work the Haida! Hopefully they'll make use of it in a war - it's pretty advantageous to be able to attack a land melee unit and not be prone to counter-attacks.
