How about 15 iron prec units before iron is needed?

I like increasing the cost more than putting a national unit cap, but this would be another way to represent having only trace iron from trading and from your regular, non-Iron-specific mines. Of course, a more conservative approach would be to both increase the cost and put a unit cap on them.

I tend to think of the specific tile resources as not the only sources in the world - otherwise, as Thunderbird said, what are you mining in those nonspecific mines? Rather, if you have an Iron source, that means you're one of the world's leading producers of iron and can use it in greater amounts and more cheaply.

Mostly, though, I just like the way elephants and early gunpowder units can act as counters, often somewhat unexpected ones.

SP.S. Can I adjust national unit limits somehow? Couldn't find it from CIV4UnitInfos or other XMLs.

There is a game option in Custom game that removes the limit. Other than that, for your own mod, it is in the Unit Class XML file.

I am going to have to agree with ls612 on this. The War Elephants are the armored versions of the Elephants (as are the Knights the armored version of the Horses). Nothing stops you from building Elephant Riders or even Ballista Elephants if you have Elephants but not Iron. There are plenty of tactics to defeat an iron army when you have none.

But I have to agree that iron is one of the key steps in evolving your empire. If you don't eventually get it you will be suffering in the long run. If you can last that long. Likewise sulphur, coal, oil and uranium are also very important in later eras.

In short I think the War Elephants and related UU should require both Elephants and Iron.

I found some bugs ...

1. The Howdah has the Mahout Lancer icon/button. It should have its own unique button.

2. The Battle Elephant is missing its Graphic. Its just showing up as a big red dot (which means its missing).

3. I also just realized that the War Mammoth should also require Iron too since its the Mammoth version of the Knight.

Do you have iv C2C something like trade boat? Works like caravan in water and costal cities. I am looking for something like that cause now sending caravan oversea is annoying (few units a a few operations to do).

Yes, there are several even. Cog Merchant (available at Piracy), Carrack Merchant (available at Optics), Clipper Merchant (available at Chemistry), Liberty Merchant (available at Submarine Warfare), and Cargo Ship Merchant (available at Coast Guard).

I found another bug ...

The Redcoat (English) has no tech requirement. It should be the same as a Rifleman which is Rifling AND Flintlock techs. Please fix.

1. It should have been with the other elephant icon/buttons I sent you. Included were icons/buttons for the Flail Elephant, Howdah and Mahout Lancer.

Yeah that's the new Syrian Battle Elephant. Think like the AOEII Persian War Elephant. However Persia already had the Immortals, so I gave it to the Syrians which had War Elephants too. Also a little known fact is they used now extinct Syrian Elephants which was a subspecies of Indian Elephant.

Please replace the graphic and icon/button for the "Work Boat (Classical)" unit with the Papyrus Boat. This will allow the Medieval and Classical boats to look different from each other. Thanks!

When you changed Work Boat (Classical) you also changed Work Boat (Medieval). The Medieval version should still be the old type of work boat. Please fix so Classical and Medieval have different models and icon/buttons. Thanks!
