Update 3: Year 1817
Non Military Events:
The Dutch perhaps the most neutral in the world this turn continue to dominate the colonial world. Quickly expanding in Australia in a race almost with France and Britain. In Africa is where the real race is taking place. Portugal expands almost as fast as the Dutch can redraw the maps. So the Dutch launch an extensive colonial effort here. And it pays off gaining lots of new lands. Same goes for New Zealand and the Polynesians. They introduce a new sections of the military. The Kommando‘s. Which are harshly trained desert and bush scenario warriors drawn from Boer communities and other experienced colonial troops. They prove essential in the expansion in Australia and Africa. (-1 divisions)
On to the Portuguese they sign peace with the Oman’s, gaining all African lands. After this they rebuild the port city of Zanzibar making it a center of trade once more. Expansion for them continues excessively as usual. Linking up west and east coast colonies. And gaining much of the remaining coastline. Immigrations from the Homeland brings a boost in local populations. And bureaucrats go to. But merely the same as always. (-1 divisions, + Zanzibar EC)
In The United Kingdom things are the same. Expansion goes for a little while but when the war breaks out most things are turned to that. Reforms and rebuilding from the last war are still underway but now a new war threatens to harm what is so hard to build.
France is generally the same as Britain. Nothing to speak of that doesn’t involve guns and marching.
Same goes for Scandinavia.
Germany however does continue its nationalistic programs. But that won’t last without a Germany to do it in.
In Italy, HURI continues its rebuilding and making Italy a world power. Colonialism continues and African colonies expand and a new colony pops up in new Zealand and Australia. In the horn of Africa a new trade center bursts into life with trade from the far east. The city is named after Pope Pius. And thus called Piuston. This new city is starting to resemble those back home. And a population increase in the area makes it HURI’s greatest colony as of yet. (+ec)
The Ottomans do something no one has done before. The get a forming of Islamic nations called the Islamic Confederacy. Consisting of Afghanistan, Sennar, Mysore, Punjab and Sindh. This brings great confidence to the peoples of the Ottoman Empire. (+ confidence and culture.)
Mysore itself after joining this alliance goes through many reforms. Bettering the country for the Indian people. Which is met with great reaction. Things such as freedom of religion are pushed. The banning of narcotics. Better tax and education systems. All in all Mysore is on its way to a brighter future. Military reforms go underway as well. Which brings them together stronger and harder. Better training camps are setup and a oath of loyalty is created. The reception is well from the people. And as they continue to effect the nation even more great things will come or so some will say so. Trade is opened with various European nations. (+1 confidence)
Qing China continues the building of its great wall. Though this costs them greatly (see military events)
In Russia economic and industrial growth continue Russia is well on its way into the future. New ideas begin to pop up as scientists challenge the facts of the past with ideas of the future.
In Japan the limited amount of ports are opened to even more traders bringing even more trade to Japan. Though the war with China slows trade down a bit they are still one of the most valuable markets in the East.
To Peru, still reforms and building of new schools and government buildings. In the south Santiago is made into a major city through trade. It is the largest city in the south and the fastest major port to reach from Europe. Money from the selling of the catholic church lands brings in enough money for the Government to build several new factories in Lima and other major cities. Which helps the military better equip itself. Economy is still on the rise as trade from other countries increases with the upgrading of ports and the selling of new goods. Laws are reformed lowering the punishment rate on peoples. Major crimes still require the death penalty but most others have been exempt from it.
In Mexico the building up in industry in Acapulco fails as unforeseen storms hit the work crews in the areas. Damaging the construction and postponing it until the next year. Army training exercises take place increasing the readiness to defend the country by the men. Mexico is becoming the pride of the Latin American world.
In Louisianan the completion of the surveying projects gives greater information’s on the lands and the areas best suited for mining and industry. Detroit and Chicago are made into valuable industrial centers through well funded construction efforts and a immigration of people to the great lake areas.
In Canada the increasing cod fish market in Newfoundland makes a small fishing village into a world class fishing port. Exports find there selves all the way to Moscow.
Military Events:
The African theater is one which seems to be of Great importance to both the French and British. They both foresaw the material resources in Africa as a valuable asset in a war. And expansion was erupting across the fields and rivers. But now that the war is upon us. The British knew they had little hope of victory in Africa and left only a small defense force. Relying mainly in the help of Benin which did in the end of the first battles save many British men’s lives. The fighting was swift, the naval battles were won with little trouble by the over whelming forces of the French. And using the Scandinavian colonies as stepping stones they cut down the British lands and marched on. Outnumbered 4 to 1 the Brits fell back to Benin where they are making a stand with the help of the locals. The French stopped advancing in order to stop guerilla fighting inside the new territories. To the Caribbean is the next stage of this War of France and Britain. Once again both saw the need for the colonies of these areas. And once again the French outnumbered the British and destroyed the fleet in the area. Though the British fought hard on land. They lost lands in South and Central America as well as most of the island holdings including the Bahamas. The only last pocket of soldiers in a small division on Jamaica. Which are lucky the French have not decided to land. They hold out but naval bombardment of the coastal regions is lowering there morale. (-5 Squadrons,-4 Divisions Britain,- 5 Squadrons,-3 Divisions France)
In fact the only place the British didn’t lose in the surprise attacks were Australia and India. Two places the French had left out as not important for the time being. But in India something else was stirring up. Pro Indian nationalism movements began. Causing rebellions in many areas. Most are stomped out by the heavy British guard in the areas but yet some major ones still prosper. It is believed that the Royal family of India is behind it.(-3 Divisions Britain)
In the Americas a different war is born. The long awaited war of the Francophone Entente vs. the English Alliance. And what a swift and devastating war it was. In the south preparations for the invasion were made by Louisianan, a large army was raised. From mainly European immigrants looking for jobs and some other loyal members of the Empire. Canada made its own preparations as well. The initial invasions were strong and very well thought out. Imperial armies marched into areas relatively un guarded and flanked the American armies. Though it wasn’t to hard to beat them straight forward as they are outnumbered and slightly outgunned. (Accuracy of the Louisianan weapons have been increased with rifled barrels though only a few have these new weapons enough have them to make a dent in the battles.) Once through the borders they pushed to the Appalachian mountain chain where the generals decided it best to do south and around them. Though some forces went over them or north most went south. The same time the Louisianan navy was sweeping towards Florida. Where another invasion force was dropped off to yet again lowly defended areas. The forces that landed were the highly trained Legionnaire’s and they moved faster than other land armies. Using swamp land tactics and pushing through. The Florida peninsula was soon within there control. As the Imperial army rips through the south the Canadians push with some Imperial help into New Englander Federations. The only thing holding back the Canadian forces are a lack of supplies. Which seems to have been caused by errors in shipping when they attacked across Lake Eerie. Though they managed to push quite far. NEF is fairing better than expected. Even the Imperial army is failing to push very far. But one thing is certain DRA is completely incapable of fighting on. It’s army is destroyed fleet is sunk. Troops reaching in on the capital. Barely a few remaining pockets of resistance. Only NEF can make the save now. (-19 divisions,-15 squadrons DRA, -8 Divisions NEF, -12 Divisions,-10 Squadrons Louisianan, -25 Divisions Canada)
In China the continuation of the building of the Great Wall takes most of the armed forces to the south leaving very few in the North. This year seems to be the year of mistakes and right timing for invasions. The Japanese fleet is built up over the winter in preparation of the attack to come in the summer months. The Chinese fleet though average in size is horrible in training and the ships are falling apart. Only recently had improving the navy became a concern and the ships and men being trained were in shore. The Japanese surprise attacks along the Northern coasts takes out over half of the Chinese fleet. But what defines these moments is the fact that the Chinese had no time to prepare the ships never warned them as they were sunk at such speed there was no escape. The invasion came with not a large force but one half the size or even less than the Chinese army. The only problem being the Chinese army were not in the right area. They were hundreds of miles to the south. The only guards in the north were able to fight back but outnumbered over time. The Summer War as it has been called let the Japanese take Korea and Manchuria from the Chinese as well as Beijing itself. The Shoguns army marched and the Chinese finally got word of the declaration. Chinese merchants tried selling goods on Japanese soil which enraged the Japanese Shogun and he had them all killed. And declared war and invaded China. The battle continues but it seems the Chinese may have lost, but the Emperor was not in Beijing during the invasion so leadership is in tact. Perhaps they can summon the great size of the army of China to push back the Japanese.(- 14 divisions China,-15 Squadrons China, - 8 Divisions and -3 Conscripts Japan)
The Ottoman empire itself also pushes itself into war. With its new found ally in crime Sennar. They quickly destroy the small country together. Which comes as a surprise to the Sultan. He foresaw many casualties. But the Sennar armies did most of the work. Gaining lands they had wanted and securing themselves with the Ottomans. (-2 Divisions Ottomans,- 3 Divisions Sennar, - Abyssinia as a nation)

“Gotterdammerung”
The Second Great War: European Theater
Many saw it coming. The cold, violent, inhumane war machine. But few knew when, and the few that did were the French. Napoleon kept it secret from even his allies until the plan had been completed. And then only after the most careful of voyages via sea did the message come to the Scandinavians. Whom answered it with a very cheerful response. Some say it said. “Finally.” but yet others say it said “What have we begun?” the truth to these may never be known but there is one certainty. War. And that certainty is carried out in what could be the most deadly and largest scale war ever to grace the soils of earth. The plans were compiled, the armies were gathered. In early Spring the French soldiers began to transport via cargo ship secretly into Denmark. Where they would assist in the future invasion from the North. While in the south on the ever heavily manned borders with Germany. The French increased their ranks in broad daylight. Which alarmed the Germans into moving more troops to the borders as well. Which would inevitably be the downfall of them as the invasion was coming from two angles. Something they hadn’t prepared for. In fact the Kaiser wasn’t even sure if this was a true build up for invasion or just a bluff to persuade him into French thinking. Unfortunately for him it wasn’t the later.
When the assigned armies had been setup and placed in position for the invasion a declaration of war was sent across the border. With an accurate listing of how many troops were coming from that position. This tactic though not comprehended by the Kaiser was merely a distraction. A distraction of 800,000 men to be precise. And so they crossed the border to heavy fighting. The Germans knew what was coming and dug in. Calling reserves from the south of Berlin to help reinforce positions, though not all forces were gathered. The first week or so the forces in Denmark waited for the day the planned invasion of the north was to happen. Time ticked on they hadn’t word from France. But the French were doing quite well. With an overwhelming force invading they pushed slowly but surely over the past the Rhine fortifications and deeper into Southern Germany. Seeming to head east and south of Berlin. The German didn’t realize why they were taking such a long route until the following week.
Another army this time consisting of 300,000 French and several regiments of Scandinavians crossed from Danish lands into Germany. Followed by a naval bombardment of Hamburg. Where another 200,000 Scandinavians made land fall later in the week. They caught the ill prepared and recently number cut Germans by complete surprise. And shot down the Elbe and lands in between in near lightning speeds. They are halted north of Berlin by militia and what remains of the Berlin reserve. But as they bombard with artillery the city of Berlin more invasions take place. As well as the swallowing up of Rhineland and South Germany by the French. A fierce but short naval battle takes place off the coast of Stralsung. Where the German fleet is completely destroyed. And the artillery rained for days on the city itself. Before another seemingly huge invasion forces Made land fall. The German dug in around Berlin and north of Berlin and gained more volunteers than ever to defend the fatherland.
The Scandinavian efforts in the north were paying off as the lower defended areas around the coastlines fell quickly Allowing for easy linking of supply chains and a complete dominance over the coastal areas. With no German fleet to bother them the supplies kept pouring in. The French however had the hardest fighting of them all. Losing almost as many soldiers percentage wise as the Germans in their campaigns in the South. Led by Napoleon himself. The Germans are fighting hard and doing surprisingly well. They are recovering from the initial shock and holding lines. As of the Winter all forces have stopped advancing except the Scandinavians who came prepared for winter fighting. Slow advances are made but the lines are drawn. For Now. It is all up to Russia.
The other side of France there is something called Britain. The French and British had been enlarging the fleets to balance each other out for many years post the first global war. The British had been keeping secret the building of new ships for some time. The French didn’t find these found as it was built in Scotland and kept tight lipped for over a couple of years. When the French launched a 40 squadron blockade they found themselves outnumbered. Surprised by the new increase in ships. 50 squadrons of the English encircled the French In the Channel and the fighting was over in a few days. Both parties weakened. But the British stood strong and secure on there island. The strategy used by the British was quite simple yet seemed to work. The French came straightforward into the channel hoping to over whelm the British Fleet. They saw a small fleet they had expected by where soon being followed by the rest. Flanked and outnumbered they were defeated. Some French made it home to France but the British dare not follow. They were lucky to have survived the French Armada. But this is only the European theater. Far more fighting happens on a global scale. Only time will tell whom the victors in this war will be. Key allies of the French and British have yet to enter the war. Though it can be said, he who strikes first and wins first. Will most certainly be victorious.
