LuckNES2: The Fatal Balance

Russia proposes the following divisions. (I'm sick and lazy so I didn't list them, they are all on the map)

OOC: I'm fine with the German changes on the condition that that borderline EC, and the strip of territory south of the Netherlands remains French, since technically that area is part of OTL Belgium, and probably has a significant French speaking population.

From: France
To: Russia, Germany

We agree with all proposed territorial changes with respect to Germany, Italy, and Russia. However, we are strictly opposed to the Spanish acquisition of Catalonia and the Pyrenees. The French Empire is sworn to protect the rights of French and Catalan citizens, and while we are willing to allow foreign peoples to join their countries of origin, we have a duty to protect French and Catalan territory occupied by French and Catalan peoples. Surely you can understand our position on this matter.

Since all of your personal gains are satisfied, France wishes to conclude a peace with Germany, Italy and Russia on the basis of the current proposal, excluding all references to Spain and Catalonia.

No, the fertile crest (where iraq is where im talking about) will not be ceceded. Neither are we willing to cecede the islands of Greece (greece itself is fine with the EC to) And we are also willing to give up more of our european holdings (but enough land so i am able to have some breathing room with my capital)

OCC: 'Significant' is not the same as majority, those are lands inhabited by flemish speakers. Besides 'french speaking' and 'part of the France' are different things...or are you proposing that the north american french speaker submit to your authority?

ok and why is that port in persia back in british control on the map?? it was ceceded after the war over india...

That seems to be an OTL assertion; I'd say that several decades of French control have certainly altered the ethno/linguistic makeup.

I was, of course, referring to current French continental posessions only.

OCC: 'decades' isn't enough to really alter the makeup, since the long period of Dutch rule OTL didn't make much change, this wasn't a hostile territory to France that might require 'social engineering'.

Do you agree to the changes proposed by esteemed the cartographer Sir Luck of Moosonee?

We also would hope that France does not claim to be the sole protector of the Catalan peoples, nor the sole protector of Catalan lands. Communitites exist all along the mediterranean coast, not solely in French lands.

We also would ask, how did you feel about the German peoples, and the German lands when you invaded?

Had you won the war would you have asked Germans, and Spaniards if they wished to live under France? You have fought this war and lost, some reprocussions must occur. We believe a non-binding polling of the public on the matter is more in order than a referendum.

Depending on the results...

I hate extending the deadline every week because you guys can't seem to sort things out in the days prior. You should learn to do that. I guess I will extend it by 3 hours. So 4 hours and 10 minutes remain.

Lost? We find it ironic that the Spaniards can expect to ride into victory on the coattails of a greater coalition, when it is painfully clear that Spain has little chance of defeating France on its own.

Despite the ambitions of Napoleon, the First Consul only wishes to maintain peace and security for the French people, and by extension the peoples of Catalonia.

ooc: Spain jumping into the war was to get back what you took from them originally with some extra.

We are taking back what was stolen from us. Do not preach to us. Perhaps if you had not embarked on the mad campaign against the "coalition" you would not find yourself in this position.

I'll send orders once i get a few things figured out...
