Hi guys, I am a fairly new Civ player, though I have played all 3 versions, just not very much. I am realy starting to get into Civ III and I realy am looking forward to using some of the GOTM scenarios and maps.

For better than a week I have been trying at all hours of the day and night to download the 18.9 MB file listed under the GOTM 32 scenario.... with no luck. I am getting so frustrated!!

If any of you have it and would be willing to file transfer it to me using ICQ or AOL I would appreciate it!! I am DSL so It shouldn't take to long...

We continue to have difficulties with server interrupts on the large file that would perform the install for you in one single step on the Civ3v1.29 version of the game.

If you are not playing on any version of PTW, you can get the game running quickly be following a two step process.

1) Download and install the Gotm21 Full Install Game Pack.
(I did not post the direct link here just because I enocourage you to browse the info on the resources and game features of Gotm21 so you will have a better perspective of what to expect in these subsequent game.)

2) Download and install the Gotm24_Add_On game pack from http://gotm.civfanatics.net/games/saves/gotm24_v129_add_on_setup.exe

(note that there is also an optional graphics extender that will add some extra flags and cool animations stuff)

For players on Civ3v1,29 versions of the game (NOT any version of PTW) you will need to manually swap out the resources.pcx and pediaicons.txt files when you need to switch back to a standard game. Your original versions of the resources and pediaicons.txt files are saved for you on your hard drive to let you restore the different versions as you may see fit. The swapping process is really easy once you get used to where the filesa re located.

I am using the Play the World version, so I will keep trying unless some one can come through on a few minute file transfer.... Heck I run a site, I would be glad to host it for you!! It's actualy a Madden site, but I could host it until you guys have things under controll... let me know.

You are sort of creating confusion here that is not necessary.

First, I have specifically asked that you contact me privately if you have any file problems so that I can help resolve them for you.

Second you are jumbling up the Civ3v1.29 version of the game with the PTW versions of the game (needlessly).

Part of this is not your fault. Firaxis knows that their choice of software version numbers creates needless confusion but they have so far chosen not to implement a simple solution that would prevent the PTW version of the game from having software versions that duplicate and overlap the software versions of the basic game.

The confusion here is that you (Equalizer) never needed the 18MB full download and you have been waiting for a week to get to the game for no reason. The version of the game software that you have is PTW and is not Civ3v1.29. The process that you needed to follow was to download the Gotm21fullsetup game pack taht you could get from this page:

and then add-on the Gotm24-add-on pack that would activate all the Asian units and Asain Civilizations.

If you have not previously recently played and completed a GOTM game on PTW, then download the Gotm21 Total Install for PTW first and then add the PTW Add-On below. You can download the Gotm21 Game Pack from the Gotm21 game page in the menu at the left hand side of this page.

One of the reasons that I ask you to contact me be PM or email is to try and sort out these issues without having to do the details in public. just so that we can give you and any otehr person the personal support that you may need to get off on the right foot.
