Lyrics that mean something to you...

This just came on my itunes, an awesome song that resonates because it correlates with an awesome tale, a fictional fantasy tale but an awesome one nevertheless that is epic and moving, and this song is about one of the most tragic sorrowful parts in that tale.

Nightfall by Blind Guardian

No sign of life did flicker
In floods of tears she cried
"All hope's lost it can't be undone
They're wasted and gone"

Save me your speeches
I know what you want
(They blinded us all)
You will take it away from me
Take it and I know for sure
The light she once brought in
Is gone forever more

Like sorrowful seaguls they sang
(We're) lost in the deep shades
The misty cloud brought
(A wailing when beauty was gone
Come take a look at the sky)
Monstrous it covered the shore
Fearful into the unknown
Quietly it crept in new horror
Insanity reigned
It spilled the first blood
When the old king was slain

Nightfall
Quietly it crept in and changed us all
Nightfall
Quietly it crept in and changed us all
Nightfall
Immortal land lies down in agony

How long shall we mourn in the dark
The bliss and the beauty will not return
Say farewell to sadness and grief
Though long and hard the road may be
But even in silence I heard the words
An oath we shall swear by the name of the one
Until the world's end
It can't be broken

Just wondering how
I can still hear these voices inside

The doom of the Noldor drew near

The words of a banished king
I swear revenge
Filled with anger aflamed our hearts
Full of hate full of pride
Oh we screamed for revenge

Nightfall
Quietly it crept in and changed us all
Nightfall
Quietly it crept in and changed us all
Nightfall
Immortal land lies down in agony

Vala he is that's what you said
Then your oath's been sworn in vain
(But) freely you came and
Ýou freely shall depart
(So) never trust the northern winds
Never turn your back on friends

Oh I'm heir of the high lord!
You better don't trust him
The enemy of mine
Isn't he of your kind and
Finally you may follow me
Farewell, he said

Nightfall
Quietly it crept in and changed us all
Nightfall
Quietly it crept in and changed us all
Nightfall
Immortal land lies down in agony

Back to where it all began
Back to where it all began

Journey - Don't Stop Believin'

Just a small town girl
Livin' in a lonely world
She took the midnight train
Goin' anywhere
Just a city boy
Born and raised in South Detroit
He took the midnight train
Goin' anywhere

A singer in a smokey room
A smell of wine and cheap perfume
For a smile they can share the night
It goes on and on and on and on

Strangers waiting
Up and down the boulevard
Their shadows searching
In the night
Streetlights, people
Livin' just to find emotion
Hidin', somewhere in the night

Workin' hard to get my fill
Everybody wants a thrill
Payin' anything to roll the dice
Just one more time
Some will win
Some will lose
Some were born to sing the blues
Oh, the movie never ends
It goes on and on and on and on

Strangers waiting
Up and down the boulevard
Their shadows searching
In the night
Streetlights, people
Livin' just to find emotion
Hidin', somewhere in the night

[Instrumental Interlude]

Don't stop believin'
Hold on to the feelin'
Streetlights, people
Don't stop believin'
Hold on
Streetlights, people

Rolling Stones - Sympathy for the Devil
because its just true.

Please allow me to introduce myself
I'm a man of wealth and taste
I've been around for long, long year
Stolen many a man's soul and faith
I was around when Jesus Christ had
His moment of doubt and pain
I made damn sore that Pilate
Washed his hands and sealed his fate

(chorus)
Please to meet you
Hope you guess my name
But what's puzzling you
Is the nature of my game

I stuck around St.Petersburg
When I saw it was time for a change
I killed the tzar and his ministers
Anastasia screamed in vain
I rode a tank, held a general's rank
When the Blitzkrieg raged and the bodies stank

(chorus)

I watched with glee while your kings and queens
Fought for ten decades for the Gods they made
I shouted out who killed the Kennedys?
When after all it was you and me
So let me please introduce myself
I'm a man of wealth and taste
And I lay traps for troubadours
Who get killed before they reach Bombay

(chorus -twice-)

Just as every cop is a criminal
And all the sinners saints
As heads is tails just call me Lucifer
'Cause I'm in need of some restraint
So if you meet me, have some courtesy
Have some sympathy and some taste
Use all your well-learned politesse
Or I'll lay your soul to waste

(chorus)

Blanket me sweet nurse
And keep me from burning
I must get back...
To the woods...
Dear girls.
I must get back to the woods

In the bloody elevator
Rising for the their first cup of tea
Of the day
Where's the sky turn in to space?
And air into wind?

The only thing
I really need
Is water, a gun, and rabbits
Let me rest my fevered cheek
Upon, your warm sweet bellies

In the bloody elevator
Going to the bright the-atre lounge
Come on boys
Please let me taste
The clean dirt in my lungs
And moss on back

Saint Mary - Sparklehorse

Johnny Horton - Johnny Reb

(yes, I really do listen to stuff this old!)

You fought all the way, Johnny Reb, Johnny Reb
You fought all the way, Johnny Red

Saw you a-marchin' with Robert E. Lee
You held your head a-high, tryin' to win the victory
You fought for your folks but you didn't die in vain
Even though you lost, they speak highly of your name

'Cause you fought all the way, Johnny Reb, Johnny Reb
You fought all the way, Johnny Reb

I heard your teeth chatter from the cold outside
Saw the bullets open up the wounds in your side
I saw the young boys as they begin to fall
You had tears in your eyes, 'cause you couldn't help at all

But you fought all the way, Johnny Reb, Johnny Reb
You fought all the way, Johnny Reb

I saw, General Lee, raise the sabre in his hand
Heard the cannon's roar as you made your last stand
You marched in the battle with the gray and the red
When the cannon's smoke cleared, took days to count the dead

'Cause you fought all the way, Johnny Reb, Johnny Reb
You fought all the way, Johnny Reb

When, "Honest Abe", heard the news about your fall
The folks thought he'd call a great victory ball
But he asked the band to play the song, Dixie
For you Johnny Reb and all that you believed

'Cause you fought all the way, Johnny Reb, Johnny Reb
Yeah, you fought all the way, Johnny Reb

You fought all the way, Johnny Reb, Johnny Reb
You fought all the way, Johnny Reb

FADES-
You fought all the way, Johnny Reb, Johnny Reb
Yeah, you fought all the way Johnny

Farthest Star - VNV Nation:

The will to greatness clouds the mind
Consumes the senses, veils the signs
We each are meant to recognize.
Redeeming graces cast aside
Enduring notions, new found promise,
That the end will never come.

We live in times when all seems lost,
But time will come when we'll look back,
Upon ourselves and on our failings.

Embrace the void even closer still,
Erase your doubts as you surrender everything:

We possess the power,
If this should start to fall apart,
To mend divides,
To change the world,
To reach the farthest star.
If we should stay silent.
If fear should win our hearts,
Our light will have long diminished,
Before it reaches the farthest star.

Wide awake in a world that sleeps
Enduring thoughts, enduring scenes.
The knowledge of what is yet to come.
From a time when all seems lost,
From a dead man to a world.
Without restraint, unafraid and free.

We possess the power,
If this should start to fall apart,
To mend divides,
To change the world,
To reach the farthest star.
If we should stay silent.
If fear should win our hearts,
Our light will have long diminished,
Before it reaches the farthest star.

If we fall and break,
All the tears in the world cannot make
us whole
Again.

We possess the power,
If this should start to fall apart,
To mend divides,
To change the world,
To reach the farthest star.
If we should stay silent.
If fear should win our hearts,
Our light will have long diminished,
Before it reaches the farthest star.

Tonight by TV on the Radio

My mind is like an orchard
Clustered in frozen portraits
Of Blossoms that bloom so fine, just to drop from the vine
I’ve seen 'em all tonight

Could keep it silent and tortured
Or shove it unto the floor boards
A rusty heart starts to whine,
In its tell tale time
so free it up tonight

Life deals a measly portion
Of Light on good friends and fortune
It's chipped you away inside,
and drawn all your blinds
Concealed it all from sight

Could cut that final corner
Charge the void no quarter
Or skip to the final line of some
suicide note well publicized
Or give it up tonight

Kindly reverse the order
of the options you’ve laid before you
The needle, the dirty spoon
the flames and the fumes
Just throw them out
tonight

The time that you’ve been afforded
May go unsung, unrewarded
Some nameless you cannot know
may be coming to show you
Unbridled love and light

Should you grow in an orchard
Covered in dusty portraits
Of blossoms that bloom so fine
just to drop from the vine
Oh, listen up tonight

Don’t keep it silent and tortured
Or shove it all to the floorboards
Your busted heart will be fine
In its telltale time
So give it up tonight

Paint Me Blue by Tabithas Secret

Not enough of me well
There's way too much of you
I think I saw some happy people yesterday
And that'll never do

Never too much violence
Any time we had a war
You leave on your shirt and I'll be skins
And we'll go flyin' through the door

These are violent times and I only want to do my part
Sink to hatred's depths and smile at what we've blown apart cuz
I don't need understanding
Just a pact or two
Help me with my troubles and what to do's

I don't feel no ragin'
That ain't nothin' new
Well now drop me into the ocean and paint me blue

I don't have a worry and I don't have a care
I don't have a sound peace of mind but I mangage to fare
I don't like my neighbors, hell they're just not my kind
I think it might be all for the whales and I really don't mind

These are the golden years well I think it's time we cashed them in
Sit in our rocking chairs and talk about the good old days cuz

I don't need understanding
Just a pact or two
Help me with my troubles and what to do's
I don't feel no ragin'
That ain't nothin' new
Well now drop me into the ocean and paint me blue

These are violent times and I only want to do my part
Sink to hatred's depths and smile at what we've blown apart cuz
I don't need understanding
Just a pact or two
Help me with my troubles and what to do's
I don't feel no ragin'
That ain't nothin' new
Well now drop me into the ocean and paint me blue
Baby won't you paint me, won't you paint me blue

Holy hell, someone else knows and loves that song. Good on you.

The Verve Pipe - The Freshmen
When I was young I knew everything
And she a punk who rarely ever took advice
Now I'm guilt stricken, sobbin' with my head on the floor
Stop a baby's breath and a shoe full of rice, no...

I can't be held responsible
'Cause she was touching her face
I won't be held responsible
She fell in love in the first place

For the life of me I cannot remember
What made us think that we were wise and we'd never compromise
For the life of me I cannot believe we'd ever die for these sins
We were merely freshmen

My best friend took a week's vacation to forget her
His girl took a week's worth of valium and slept
And now he's guilt stricken sobbin' with his head on the floor
Thinks about her now and how he never really wept he says

I can't be held responsible
'Cause she was touching her face
I won't be held responsible
She fell in love in the first place

For the life of me I cannot remember
What made us think that we were wise and we'd never compromise
For the life of me I cannot believe we'd ever die for these sins
We were merely freshmen

We've tried to wash our hands of all of this
We never talk of our lacking relationships
And how we're guilt stricken sobbin' with our heads on the floor
We fell through the ice when we tried not to slip, we'd say

I can't be held responsible
'Cause she was touching her face
And I won't be held responsible
She fell in love in the first place

For the life of me I cannot remember
What made us think that we were wise and we'd never compromise
For the life of me I cannot believe we'd ever die for these sins
We were merely freshmen

For the life of me I cannot remember
What made us think that we were wise and we'd never compromise
For the life of me I cannot believe we'd ever die for these sins
We were merely freshmen

We were merely freshmen
We were merely freshmen
We were only freshmen

Not Enough - Van Halen

To love somebody naturally
To love somebody faithfully
To love somebody equally
Is not enough, it's not enough
It's not enough

To love somebody secretly (And never touch)
To love somebody honestly (And always trust)
To love somebody tenderly
The tender touch is not enough
It's not enough

Love hurts you sometimes
It's not so easy to find, no
Searchin' everywhere, you turn and swear (Ahh-ahh-ahh)
It's always been there

To love somebody foolishly (Can happen once)
To love somebody hopelessly (It hurts so much)
To love somebody equally
Is not enough, it's not enough
It's not enough

Love takes a little time
It's not so easy to find, no, no
Searchin' everywhere, you turn and swear
It's always been there

(Guitar Solo)
Standin' there....

Oh!

And if it don't come easily
One thing you must believe
You can always have trust in me
'Cause my heart will always be, yours honestly

Yeah! Love hurts you sometimes
Not so easy to find, no-oh
Searchin' everywhere, you turn and swear (Ahh-ahh-ahh)
It's always been there, standin' there
Love hurts you sometimes
It's not yours, it's not mine, no-oh
Love is only to share
You turn and swear (Ahh-ahh-ahh) it's everywhere
Standin' there (Ahh-ahh)
'Cause it's always been there

Pack it Up-Aces High (this was the angry song that I wrote after I discovered that a girl I still cared very much for was now dating my old roomie/best friend, and lied about it. The prose may not be wonderful, but its sung with a lot of emotion, and it means something to me)

Things sure are different than they used to be
Although I guess that was a while ago
I’m quite aware circumstances changed
I don’t need to hear bout that no more

You wondered if we could still be friends
And here I was, maybe thinkin’ we can
But that changed, when you took my heart
And you crushed it right in your hand

Pack up the Volvo
Head out the door
Girl I don’t wanna see you round here no more
Save me the story
I’m sick of the lies
I’ll catch you later, cause now
Now its goodbye

I swear we’ve been through this a thousand times
I keep getting over you inside my head
But somehow someway you keep coming back
How many more times before you’re really dead?

I’ve seen more heartbreak, I’ve seen more pain
Than the surgeon general says is good for my brain
I’ve seen it all, been stabbed in the back with your knife
So kindly please remove it and get out of my life

Pack up the Volvo
Head out the door
Girl I don’t wanna see you round here no more
Save me the story
I’m sick of the lies
I’ll catch you later, cause now
Now its goodbye

*face melting solos for the guitars and harmonicas*

You can keep your sushi and your new York times
We’ll both go separate ways and that’ll be just fine
Those strings are broken now, I’m not longer bound
Because baby our last bridge just got burned right to the ground

Pack up the Volvo
Head out the door
Girl I don’t wanna see you round here no more
Save me the story
I’m sick of the lies
I’ll catch you later, cause now
Now its goodbye

Eye of the Tiger by Survivor

Risin up
back on the street
did my time took my chances
went the distance now I'm back on my feet
just a man and his will to survive
so many times
it happens too fast
you trade your passion for glory
don't lose your grip on the dreams of the past
you must fight just to keep them alive

It's the eye of the tiger
its the cream of the fight
risin up to the challenge of our rivals
and the last known survivor stalks his prey in the night
and he's watching us all with the eye of the tiger

Face to face
out in the heat
hanging tough
stayin hungry
the stack the odds still we take to the street
for the kill with the skill to survive...

It's the eye of the tiger
its the cream of the fight
risin up to the challenge of our rivals
and the last known survivor stalks his prey in the night
and he's watching us all with the eye of the tiger

Risin up
straight to the top
had the guts got the glory
went the distance now I'm not gonna stop
just a man and his will to survive

It's the eye of the tiger
its the cream of the fight
risin up to the challenge of our rivals
and the last known survivor stalks his prey in the night
and he's watching us all with the eye of the tiger

The eye of the tiger......
The eye of the tiger......
The eye of the tiger......

Do you have an audio version I could listen to?

Journey - Don't Stop Believin'
That song rules. :goodjob:

Do you have an audio version I could listen to?

Not ATM. The song was written and performed well after we released our CD, and the sound quality with the bootleg recordings of live shows have been so bad, that I dont feel good posting it online.

When this whole thing is said and done, I'll release a few more songs on the internets for free that werent on the CD.

We are the Champions
Queen

I've paid my dues -
Time after time -
I've done my sentence
But committed no crime -
And bad mistakes
I've made a few
I've had my share of sand kicked in my face -
But I've come through

We are the champions - my friends
And we'll keep on fighting - till the end -
We are the champions -
We are the champions
No time for losers
'Cause we are the champions - of the world -

I've taken my bows
And my curtain calls -
You brought me fame and fortune and everything that goes with it
-
I thank you all -

But it's been no bed of roses
No pleasure cruise -
I consider it a challenge before the whole human race -
And I ain't gonna lose -

We are the champions - my friends
And we'll keep on fighting - till the end -
We are the champions -
We are the champions
No time for losers
'Cause we are the champions - of the world

I really liked the Nightfall in Middle Earth CD before i read Tolkien's Silmarillion, but only after reading the book i could understeand and appreciate that truly masterpiece of a CD. I've yet to find something that beats it and i've been listening to it for almost 10 years!

"Sk8er Boi" by AVRIL LAVIGNE

He was a boy
She was a girl
Can I make it anymore obvious?
He was a punk.
And she did ballet.
What morea can I say?
He wanted her.
She'd never tell.
Secretely she wanted him as well.
And all of her friends
Stuck up their nose.
And they had a problem with his baggy clothes.
He was a sk8er boi she said see ya later boi.
He wasn't good enough for her.
She had a pretty face but her head was up in space.
She needed to come back down to earth.
Five years from now she sits at home feeding the baby she's all alone.
She turns on TV and guess who she sees.
Sk8er boi rocking up MTV.
She calls up her friends.
They already know
And they've all got tickets to see his show.
She tags along, stands in the crowd . Looks up at the man that she turned down.
He was a sk8er boi she said see ya later boi. He wasn't good enough for her.
Now he's a superstar slammin on his guitar to show pretty face what he's worth.
Sorry girl but you missed out. Well tough luck that boi's mine now. We are more than just good friends. This is how the story ends. Too
bad that you couldn't see.. see the man that boi could be. There is more than meets the eye, I see the soul that is inside.
He's just a boi, and I'm just a girl.
Can I make it anymore obvious?
We are in love.
Haven't you heard how we rock eachother's world?
I met the sk8er boi I said see ya later boi.
I'll be backstage after the show.
I'll be at the studio singing the song he wrote about a girl he use to know.
I met the sk8er boi I said see ya later boi.
I'll be backstage after the show.
I'll be at the studio singing the song he wrote about a girl he use to know.

Pain lyrics by Three Days Grace

Pain, without love
Pain, I can't get enough
Pain, I like it rough
'Cause I'd rather feel pain than nothing at all

You're sick of feeling numb
You're not the only one
I'll take you by the hand
And I'll show you a world that you can understand
This life is filled with hurt
When happiness doesn't work
Trust me and take my hand
When the lights go out you will understand

Pain, without love
Pain, I can't get enough
Pain, I like it rough
'Cause I'd rather feel pain than nothing at all
Pain, without love
Pain, I can't get enough
Pain, I like it rough
'Cause I'd rather feel pain than nothing at all

Anger and agony
Are better than misery
Trust me I've got a plan
When the lights go off you will understand

Pain, without love
Pain, I can't get enough
Pain, I like it rough
'Cause I'd rather feel pain than nothing at all
Pain, without love
Pain, I can't get enough
Pain, I like it rough
'Cause I'd rather feel pain than nothing
Rather feel pain

I know (I know I know I know I know)
That you're wounded
You know (You know you know you know you know)
That I'm here to save you
You know (You know you know you know you know)
I'm always here for you
I know (I know I know I know I know)
That you'll thank me later

Pain, without love
Pain, can't get enough
Pain, I like it rough
'Cause I'd rather feel pain than nothing at all
Pain, without love
Pain, I can't get enough
Pain, I like it rough
'Cause I'd rather feel pain than nothing at all
Pain, without love
Pain, I can't get enough
Pain, I like it rough
'Cause I'd rather feel pain than nothing at all
Rather feel pain than nothing at all
Rather feel pain

Godspeed

Burning down Neverland
Scatter the ashes white lines
Black tar the matches
Is this another death by misadventure?
Tell me what you got
What you really got
We'll rest in our graves
Lexington course your veins
Sleepers can’t just wake the dead
When needles and lovers
Collapse on guilty beds.
Fall asleep
Don't fall asleep
They lied when they said
That the good die young

They lied when they said
The good die young
Stay with me tonight

Burning down bridges now
Scatter the ashes
Godspeed to all your after
Is this a life left just to remember?
Tell them who you were
Who you really were
Kill yourself slowly over time
Fashion statement suicide
She's still asleep in a Chelsea hotel
Bad turns to worse
And the worst turns into hell

Fall asleep
Don't fall asleep
God save the eyes that dim tonight

They lied when they said
The good die young
Stay with me tonight
