Inspired by the similar thread for Empire, I've started this one.

What does Purity do for Priests?

Raises their chances to kill heretics/witches, I also believe it may increase the conversion rate in provinces.

Thanks! What does "Expert at hiding in woods" mean?

Stick them in a forest, and they won't be spotted except at short range (the expert denotes the short range as opposed to long range) as long as they don't move

On the subject of purity, is the College of Cardinals decided purely on the basis of purity, or does your relationship with the Papacy effect this? Also, is it possible for excommunicated factions to have their priests become cardinals?

Unorthodoxy does make them more likely to become Heretics. I think Violence makes them, as Pope, more likely to call Crusades. It may do something else.

I had a strange battle the other day. As the Russians, I was besieging the Mongol citadel of Acre. The siege had just started, and a number of my engines had been set alight by towers. Then, all of a sudden, the game decided I had "lost" the battle, the battle loss narration began ( we put up a good fight, but were were ultimately no match for our enemies blah blah blah), and it ended the battle as a "close defeat" for me. I lost nothing but a few siege engines, there is no battle time limit, and I was not routed from the field. I told no one to withdraw. So why the hell did it make me lose?

I doubt this has any effect, but my commanding general was some minor family member, and the Mongol general was that famous son of Genghis Khan, Ogedei, who had crazy stats like max dread, max command, etc etc.

You lost because all your siege equipment was destroyed, so you had no means of taking the citadel. I was confused the first time this happened to me, too!

But some of it was still alive! It wasn't all gone!

As a side-rant, I hate that when you lose a siege, that your army withdraws and breaks the siege. Unless the enemy sallies out, you should be able to just withdraw from the castle proper and continue the encirclement.

Perhaps your artillery (if you had any) ran out of ammunition?:dunno:
