Mad Scientists Nest generation RPC Summary/Bullpen

What would the traits be for Sid Meier?

The ones I could see fitting would be:
*Creative
*Financial
*Organized
*Industrious? (slight stretch)
*Charismatic? (true, but... best fit?)

I once modded him in for fun with all 11 traits. If he's an AI, he's very hard to beat.

Yeah I know I can play as Sid as the BArbarian, but as the farewell to CIV for me I want to play as a random leader, traits/UU/UB and all.

Well folks, I have been to Civ V and I have returned. With out specifics let me say I am rather displeased and uninspired with Civ V, and although I will likely try it once in a while I do not see me regularly playing it until it's patched AND improved.

So here I am, he of the fanatical RPC tales with no game to post on.

Which leads me to this post, is there an interest in seeing me restart these RPCs tales, or perhaps an Immortal Mad series? Perhaps a mix, throwing in Immortal game amongst Emperor RPCs with a Earth 18 game tossed in for fun.

As there are many playing Civ V now, I expect the followers to be fewer. SO if I do this I need some people to chime in a bit, talking to myself in teh RPCs may be entertaining for you folks but is a little hard on my (and my Psyche).

Any ideas are welcomed!

I deas for Future RPCs

Cleopatra of Ptolemic Egypt: Hatty of Greece looking for a wonderspamming culture win.

Thomas Jefferson of America: A continet map MAnifest destiny, to get teh bad taste of Civ V out of my mouth.

Julius CAesar on an Earth-18 map but I need to vassal the entire world, no deaths please.

Atilla the Hun. A PAngea MAp, burn them all game with a beeline towards ONLY military. A Khan type game for a historical Khan predicessor (without thier style and charm).

Return of the War-mongering PAcifist Gandhi.

The Blood thirsty Askia of the Songhai as Mansa in an earth-18 map. Yeah I am stealing a Civ V leader, sue me.

Still in my subscribe list, Mad.

For variety, you could try one of the mods. RFC is pretty fun, but straight forward. You could try for some historical victories that you make up yourself. RoM is... not perfectly balanced, but it's getting better, and is IMHO Civ 4.5 (even if it doesn't get as much play from me as RFC & FFH2). Speaking of, FFH2 is an idea, but that's a whole new ballgame based on Civ4. Intensely fun, and tied with RFC for best Civ4 mod, but not historical in the slightest.

If you're not in a mod mood, I vote Thomas Jefferson, both to remove the taste of Civ5 & because Neal never finished his psycho Abraham Lincoln KoW game.

Yeah I am not a mod person but I'll that open.

Phsycho Jefferson may be an idea though. "All men are created equal, now slave go fetch me that wrench." Then again perhaps TJ can stay in slavery the entire game while spreading democracy abroad, or at elast needing the UN to force him into it.

I like all of those suggestions, especially phsycho Jefferson. I think the games should be a mix of immortal and Emperor levels.
I have an idea for a game, Michael Collins and the united irishmen, Collins has to destroy all three English leaders (Victoria, Churchill and Liz) on a pangea or from a isolated map and then win the game any way he wishes (domination/conquest is a preference). He would have to ally with america also, but he cannot attack america, and, any civ that is either pleased or friendly with the english must be destroyed or vassled.

Good idea for the Irish. Perhaps I can add the old Ragnar provision of acquiring all the Alcohol producing resources. Or I may just stick to appropriate Irish names of cities such as Jameson, Guiness, Harp etc....

The Irish must also adopt a state religion and stick to it via Organized Religion. Not sure which leader but definitely the Celts.

Maybe a Pangea Map, 3 Brits and 3 American leaders.

RPC's are always very enjoyable, Mad. Nice to have you back.

I actually like the Songhai/Mansa RPC on Earth18. You might want to lessen the difficulty level a little, though. On Earth18, Mansa is about the hardest to play as. Neal did a King of the World game with Mansa a long time ago. He won, but needed the Internet to catch up for a Space win.

Mansa on Earth18 gives me a hard time, too. He plays about 4 levels harder than, say, Julius.

Thanks mad!
The State religion is a good idea, Christianity should be the preferred religion but every religion is open. I think we should throw in a German, french or spanish leader also, for historical reasons (Germany supplied the I.R.B with weapons before the easter rising, and France/ Spain tried to help us out with our Independence)

I'll be reading.

Perhaps Psycho Thomas Jefferson could even take over for Zombie Abraham Lincoln on Earth 34... :mischief:

Maybe make the Attila one always-war? If that would be too much hard work, just conquer and hold all the AI capital cities to win - in other words a Civ 5 style domination victory.

I think it's a great idea Mad. I got kind of tired of civ5 myself; it doesn't seem to have the strategic depth of 4 BTS. All those ideas sound cool to me, looking forward to Atilla the Hun and Askia!

Also, you may find less people posting, but I'm sure there are a LOT of lurkers who read your stuff.. It will not fall on deaf ears !

on Cleopatra ... i'd suggest Kubai Khan ... they was afterall notoriously aggressive (against each other if nothing else) ...

roman earth18 with no killings is going to be very interesting to see ... i predict a Feudalism beeline so you can start off vasseling that much earier

I suggest you play a Civ V mock-up game where the only function of your roads is to connect your cities (as in, dodge resources unless they're directly in the natural path of the road) and you can't play with more than 1 unit per tile. I guess in the spirit of that game would be to also disallow tech trading and limit yourself to 2-4 units per strategic resource (use an online random number generator for that) :D One could easily add to this list but that kind of variant is already hard.

Obviously this is just me poking at how bad V really is but all in all it'd be fun to see the ridiculousness of V converted into this game for entertainments sake.
