MadV1

Well madviking it looks like you have a team.
I would suggest playing at Monarch. I agree with sesnOFwthr (but wrong color sox ;) ) on his comments about SG's playing at a higher level.
You all can do it. You will win. I promise.

Personally, I think that if the first start is used, then even Emp should be pretty easy, but like I said, I'm just along for the ride so I can brush up. :)

Gee, Whomp, looks like you guys have a shot at breaking your own little curse this year - do you think they can keep it up? I've effectively given my boys a 3 year grace period, so as long as the hated Yankees don't win, I'm happy.

BTW - I know my name can get cumbersome at times, so I'm generally just referred to as "Sesn".

I literally jumped out of my seat when I saw your name...

You can be on your merry way now...

Good to see you too, hon. And here I thought no one would remember me around here. Hope all is well for you. I think you'll probably be seeing more of me around here, though I plan to keep my SG's in check this time.

Sorry all for the [offtopic]

OK Sesn it is. It seems you have some fans kiddo. :)

What does the team think about making a save before each trade? If you do it this way a reviewer can check your work.

BTW it would be nice if Ginger and Tomo could help advise on this game too. :mischief:

O/T
I posted in Tomo's MLB thread for my views on the ChiSox.

Start 1 of the re-rerolled ones is very nice (a settler factory), but number 2 would be very interesting to play out. It's a bit more in the south, and has VERY good long term production for those JTs if you decide to go all out on them.

I'll keep an eye on this game.

O.K. people, thanks all for posting in my thread: Tribute, Sesn, and nerovats.
Anyway this REGENT. for all the monarch+ people i'll start whats in my sig.
MONARCH
80% archi.
dry, cool, hilly
:viking:

also i'm might do REGENT, mongols, dry, flat, temperate ONLY conquest and domi. can only capture cities with Keshiks (sp?), only offensive war after Chivalry. :hammer: (this is kinda like monarch) :D

Any way i need which starts and whos going to start

P.S. GO BO SOX!!! w00t! :)

A save before each trade? I suppose that's ok, as long as the intent is for someone else to be able to see if a better trade could have been made, and not for reloading if someone does makes a silly trade.....

I suppose a good determiner for the start is what people hope to learn from this. I mean, is everyone familiar with the settler factory? From a quick look, seems like this one would have to be monitored constantly, which is good MM practice. GA is right about the prod potential of the second though. I have no problem building up some JT's for slave hunting.

I think overall I'd vote for number two anyhow. Does seem to be the more interesting start locale.

EDIT: Regent, huh? Well, then hopefully we'll go for a quick military win and not drag things out too much?

A save before each trade?

What happens if someone decides to pull a Charis and converts a lot of citizens to taxmen, nix the lux and sci slider, so that they have enough gpt for the trade, and then you have to sell your world map every turn? :dubious:

You've been missed. Welcome back to the forum, Sesn. :band:

Geez, if this keeps up, we'll have to rename the thread. :p I had noticed you were still hanging around here M60, reassuring to see at least a few names I know. Thank you for the kind sentiment.

@Tomoyo - I don't think that particular one is a strat we'll have to worry about. At Reg, there's no reason we shouldn't lead in tech basically the whole way. Actually, I might argue that there's no reason for such a game to progress to the point where techs become that expensive anyhow. :hammer:

EDIT - MadV, see post 47. Whomp threw it out for consideration.

I did madviking. Not necessary if you don't want an evaluation of your trading.
There would be no reloading. My thoughts were simply to evaluate the trade and see if there was something to learn.
Again I am stealing from Bede but as you consider a deal think about Bede's Three Trading Tenets:

1) Do we need it?
2) Can we afford it?
3) Can we broker it for new knowledge or gold?

If a deal meets only one of the above criteria, pass, unless #1 is survival or victory. If it meets two of the criteria, then review the timing with emphasis on #1 and #2. If it meets all three, do it now.

And Bede would say and I quote "Smoke will pour from my nose and I will belch flames if anybody buys a monopoly tech and there is no potential for brokering it to another nation and we don't need for survival or victory".

BTW I completely agree with Sesn on the trading. At regent this is probably not necessary. Maybe for MadV2.

About trading. I've just begun to give trading a bit more attention, and this is really paying me off at least during teh anient times. In my last couple of games I didn't start trading as soon as I met other civ's, but only after meeting most of them. This sets me back for a while, but then just in one turn I put some effort in and get to be the techleader with loads of extra mony just in one turn (altough I found myself to far behind once or twice).

@MadV. Just pick a start and a roster. If you want to use non default rules or objectives please specify in advance, like just going for conquest or space ship.

You'll need to post the save, and a complete roster for future reference. I always like putting the actual turn order into the first post to make it easier to check on later.

lurker's comment:
Whomp does a really good job as my TA, so have some fun guys. Just remember that on Regent the AI does nothing to push research along, so once you buy their starting techs is is up to you.

I got really burned in a GOTM because I didn't remember that one until too late and DocT had to remind me.
