Today I just looked at what was on my screen. So much has changed. There's no defense anywhere in our core. We are only building universities.
Japan and the Mongols are dead. The Hittites are dying with about 2 turns left. 2 knights have landed near a Dutch city. The SoZ isn't built and noone can build it except us, but we are researching metallurgy in 6. Apparently there have been no wars on the Chinese German Dutch continent. Obviously I cannot do anything yet. But just for the culture, I may switch Copan to SoZ in 1 from university in 1. And do we really need to fill our continent? I think not. We ARE going for conquest. So...I suppose we could finish our universities, then go on maximum troop building.

What do you think of that?
 
Loaded the save into CA real quick (god, I love that thing), and here are my thoughts.

-Crank up research only long enough to get to MT, then shut it down entirely. Well, perhaps Astronomy too, I'd like to be able to ship the luxes home.
-Wouldn't bother building any universities. Perhaps a market here and there, where appropriate for happiness.
-Switch everything to knights and lots of boats, where cities are producitve, and try to get cash where they aren't.
-Massive upg of knights to cavs, then ferry them in a large landing group.
-Burn every city on the map, unless it has a lux or harbor we need.
-1000 AD is going to be a bit optimistic, but we should be able to tear through the other continent, facing only pikes and spears. Each of the other civs are still three techs from muskets.
-Try to get the civs fighting each other as we go along too. Heck, could consider doing that now - maybe get the Dutch and Chinese doubled up against the English so they can all burn some units for us.
I think we gotta go for Domi. Its easier
Bah, either way, we're gonna have to take land from the other continent, I say we just mow em all over - certainly more fun. :hammer:

I'm never very good at this, how do you suppose we can pull this off?

Well, that's not exactly true.

@Nerovats, the idea is to get them all fighting each other, so there are that many less units for us to fight, and they got to a war time economy, which will slow research.

Although, in retrospect, it would be better to have not have Germany at the bottom of the pile since they're the smallest, so let's do Willy instead. He will have his GA triggered, so hopefully the combined production of the other two will offset that.

Call him up and declare. Then dial up the other two and use Monotheism as your bargaining chip. Germany will require some cash too. Voila, now we've got three war time economies, and can pick off the Dutch cities on our island. By the time we're ready to land in 10 or 20 turns, everyone has been softened up for us to tear through them.
 
Forgot for a moment we've got e tech lead. In this case we should be able to bribe the others. I tried to say I'm not very good at making other civs fight without being at war my self. Some people seem to be able to do this but I don't know how. Making other people fighting your wars is obviously an enormous advantidge.
 
You can't sign an MA against a civ without already being at war with them yourself.

However, in this case, we'll probably see little/no actual fighting , with the exception of the cities on our continent. So, in effect, others ARE fighting our war, though we will have to deal with some WW issues.

I don't know how you can get others to fight your wars, as you say, without being at war yourself. Maybe sign an embargo and hope it goads them into declaring on your friend, but that's about it.
 
Actually, we won't have WW unless we attack(and lose troops) or are attacked.

And I wasn't complaining about having no troops in the core. It is very unlikely we'll get domination though.

I'll change the builds from unis to knights and galleys and muskets. Then we can research metallurgy, military tradition, then astronomy. We can land the troops near the Dutch on a nice mountain and stay there (forever and ever and ever and ever). Until the Dutch are destroyed. Then we can build up our troops while declaring war on Germany (while MA'ing with China). After that, we can wipe of the Chinese and win conquest.
 
From the looks of his previous post, he hasn't played yet, or is playing now.

Due to the discussion (and the confusion with the smiley link), I'd say give him some extra time to finish it up.

We only have 29% of the world area. After cultural expansions and getting the Hittite lands we would only have 50% or so. But we would not be able to build troops if we got all of that land.

(0) I decide we should research astronomy first since we need to make better ships and cross the sea instead of just coast. Change some university builds to knights and muskets and galleys. Copan goes to SoZ. Astronomy in 4
(1) Many worker movements. These are not so important now. Dial up Will. He says that he is honored. I too am honored to be his opponent. So are Busy Bismark and Mao. I give Mao invention for the alliance. (He does not have iron so chivalry is useless.) Bismark also gets invention. The assault versus the Hittites starts. We take Tyrana by killing 3 spears, no losses. We get the great lighthouse! I obviously keep the town. Ankuwa is taken (1 spear no losses). I keep it so that Harran’s cultural sphere is cut short. (3 knights can now attack it this turn instead of next.) Kill 3 spears in Harran (no losses) and capture it!!! Kept since it has furs. The Hittites are destroyed. Kill a random Dutch archer [8-0] Capture Lawersoog (1 spear no losses 9-0) Oh my gosh! Who left all these goto’s? At least they are going the right way. :) 5 Galleys are being sent to pick up the knights on Hittite island. I have chosen a mountain as the landing zone.
(2) Everyone is so happy because of the furs. 4 palace expansions. The Dutch have dropped a settler pair near Lawersoog. I’ll send some knights to kill it. Assault on Enschede fails with 1 win and 2 retreats. Still no losses. Did someone damage a dutch settler pair because it looks really suspicious to me. [9-0]
(3) Some builds. Lawersoog riots as it should. Capture Enschede. Found a better docking place. All knights sent there on goto. New Tulum built where the docking will start. Assault on the 2 settler pairs. We win both, but no leaders. All the units form a blockade on Lawersoog isle. [12-0]
(4) Astronomy to Metallurgy in 4. Caravels are started from the galley cities. New Coba founded. Nothing new actually. (Dutch actually are winning the war against Germany so far.
(5) New Dzibi whatever founded. Caravels built. All started again in 4 turns. (Some are not full because units weren’t produced fast enough. 3 galleys pick up 6 knights on Hittite island. Knights moved to protect Lawersoog (or fight the landing settlers). Pretty good, no? [12-0]

The plan should now just be to land all the troops and after the Dutch are gone, let the Germans get killed by the Chinese, then overrun China using our troops.
Capture 5 towns. Destroy Hittites. Get 4 slaves. Capture 1 wonder. Build 1 wonder. 3 new cities. 1 tech advance.

I agree with tribute, this will make thing even mor easy. We'll get MT in a couple of turns, then upgrade all knights, and start landing, by then most units will be on the west side of the continent fighting the chinese, so we should be able to get a firm grip fast.

Are we down to 5 turns now or do we want 10?
