Mafia: Information, Announcements, and Discussion

I'm looking to start a MiniMafia in the near future. Would half way through Jarrema's be a good time to open signups?

I think so

If you're using a reserve to replace someone in your game, tell them. It should be obvious, but apparently it isn't...

I may make some big overhauls to my LArge game. Two team fortress 2 mafias may be a little much, and they had it first. And I'm starting to get other ideas.

Using your moderator powers to know when people in mafia in hidden mode are actually online?
That much is kinda unavoidable (everyone's names are like, right there at the top of the forum), but luckily Methos pre-warned me about clicking on people's profiles to see exactly what they're doing, so I haven't gotten myself in any embarrassing situations that would force me to withdraw from a game yet.

But this is one of the reasons why it would be better if people didn't try invisible mode as a mafia tactic. I can see you and I can't really help it!

On the topic, has anyone ever actually been caught out or proven innocent by someone looking at their profile or noticing their activity? The one thing that could have some effect is if someone is lurking and not posting, but has anyone's specific activity (e.g. 'viewing profile choxorn') actually ever given someone away? Or is this an overrated tell?

I don't think so, but it's occasionally been used to check if people aren't actually online and haven't been for days, or are simply uberlurking.

I don't use invisible mode as a strategy, I use it because the amount of time I spend on this site is embarrassing. :p

I can always make a Terminator 2 Mafia where Camikaze is the T-1000 and posts in other people's names…

I just realized something -- what happens if a host flakes/their game doesn't get enough sign-ups/doesn't start by x time? Move them off the calendar and give someone else a chance to host their game?

Erm, depends… sometimes the host has really disappeared, as in, two-three weeks without even logging in, other times they've withdrawn the game. What we usually did was just move everyone forward one slot.

What happens if someone is moved forward due to that and didn't yet have the game fully finished/doesn't have time to host in that slot/whatever?

I'd assumed the dates were a guideline, not a hard and fast rule. If you don't get signups by the first of the month, delay it by a few days. That doesn't prevent the next month's game from starting on time.

I don't want to bother people with Pms quite yet (end of first day), but ollie95 hasn't responded to my writing on his profile about him enabling PMs.

I'm looking for 1 replacement for Archetype mafia (large mafia game)

Me! Me! Me! I'll do it.

The Mini mafia is over, and since we've had two right after the other, I'll give it a little cool down before I start a clue based mini.

But not TOO MUCH cool down! Minis are fast and easy, and you do not need everybody to participate - it should be easy to find 10 people or less
