Malakim+ Brainstorming

nice idea and a good way to nerf the Malakim a bit :)

@Graywarden We could add some Desert stormes Malakim only Events for flavor.

Sephi,

excellent idea, were you thinking have normal malakim play with roads and normal enviroment as well?

im ready to test anything you want to put together.... just turn me loose... ;o)

still working the Malakim test, totally kicking arse without a single war to date, and my usual Mercurian side kicks (i tend to go for the mecurian gate to give me a score buffer/prevent another civ from having).

i take it from your comments that you havent had the opportunity to "experience" the new module yourself. if you get a chance, give it a spin to give my comments more of a reference.

I played a few games with the Malakim+ on different mapscripts. love them. Of course they aren't perfect, there is always something left to do ;) In the next version all Malakim units, also Bambur, should be able to walk twice as fast in desert.

Well, I am not good at writing lore, so someone would have to come up with some ideas/text for lore events first.

You should really merge the AutoAcquire tag for promotions if you haven't already; Can't imagine modding without it anymore. :p

They are very useful, yes, but I will definetly not merge them. they seem to really slow down the game. The slowdown in FF was one of the big reasons i quit modmodding it ;)

hm i played 3 games with malakim (patch 7.5x) and it got me a bit worried that their ideal starting position is on islands.
you will have more trade thanks to harbor and lighthouse (also the great one), you will not have food problems like in deserts or unhealthy problems as experienced near flood planes. maybe they should get a bonus from desert fields as well, similar to the negative bonus of flood planes that give unhealthiness or haunted lands etc.

secondly i never experienced that transformed lands near rivers turns into flood plains even when the tiles where unoccupied by other features and i had a lot of rivers to test this.

Suggestions:
1) maybe give them a civilizations specific civic (like crusade or the faerie courts) that will give them 1 population per food and in return nerf their desert economy ability a bit.

2) give them a building that turns gold into food (high maintenance building that gives food, like a caravan stop or something

the floodplain issue is fixed in 7.52. It's indeed a bit ironic that Coastal cities are quite useful for the Malakim.

I haven't checked yet though if the AI completly understands it when you block them from building roads in desert.

*I* certainly didn't understand it until searching here :)

Around the same turn that I hooked up a camel resource, my Malakim Palace started generating Horses resource. Mentioning in case it's a bug, although I guess it's probably a feature.
