I'm pretty sure he sleepwalked into a boat, though it's amazing how nobody saw him this whole time.

Somehow I doubt that there is a direct train from Poland to Gørløse. The sleepwalked onto a ferry theory seems to be more plausible to me.

What's far more plausible is that his friends made up the story because they were actually partying somewhere in Denmark and didn't want people to know.

Yeah, I don't see how he could have walked on to a boat or a train without someone asking for a ticket.
