Many Leaders Game

Playing the traits I went all religious.
Spoiler :
Went for Buddhism and got it. Ghandi got Hinduism.

Popped archery, teched fishing and AH,

The idea is to build Stonehenge to snag the happiness point for Charismatic from monuments, then pop a preist to build the shrine.

Target will be Ghandi so I can dominate the religions on the continent.

Looking forward to Mehemed, Hannibal, and Rammy.

Cabert, I know you have a lot of games on including Diety:crazyeye: , but it would be good to see a war chariot rush

Spoiler :

Hannibal, on the coast, I'm thinking Great Lighthouse, Temple of Art. if I can. Might get lucky and snag one of the three religions too... lets see shall we.

Oops, played a couple too many. No mind really.

Double oops, need civics switch. Gandhi is Hindu, no idea who got Buddaism. Not too worried about the religious diff with Gandhi though, so I'll switch when I resume. If I remember too. :mischief: Need to get cracking on the lighthouse though... Hmm and where to found city 2? Theres jungle with gold and phants or do I go the pigs closer in? Need iron working asap it seems. Or maybe stay the coast and try and leverage the GL (if I get it...)? Hmmm choices, choices.

Spoiler :

OK, firstly look at the leader and traits. Expansive and Organised means being better able to afford a large empire. UB gives +2 happy and health on an aqueduct as well. UU gives +25% on archery, mounted and melee. All good.

I'm going to forgo an early rush and build up a big empire hopefully. Playing on Prince, might go for a Metal Casing Oracle or Pyramids.

Let's load up the save and get going....

Istanbul founded in place. Warrior being built and fishing researched.

Tech path went Fishing --> Mining --> Bronze Working (no copper) --> Animal Husbandry (horses south) --> Writing --> Pottery

Built Warrior --> Work Boat --> Worker --> Settler --> Work Boat --> Settler

Met Shaka, Gandhi and Napolean

Once I see Gandhi (who has already founded Hinduism) I forgo Oracle, we'll see about Pyramids, decide eventually not to go here either.

Found my second city.

This is where I've got my eye on for a third.

The plan will be for Alphabet after Pottery to trade for the lesser techs and keep expanding, build Great Library. When we start expanding into others, we'll see...

So,

Hannibal is building, Sailing and Judaism. Mehemed, it's in the balance it seems.

Victoria, Alex and Brennus settled on the horses, Victoria with iron already.

Augustus settled on production and rivers.

That's six saves in. Cabledawg, if you want to play on as Alex's evil twin brother, why not.

Ozbenno, I'm curious why you skipped Oracle when you saw Ghandi. He's not industrious.

I'd say from here we play another 50 to take us to 375 BC. Then we can really see the outcome of the early decisions. Maybe at that stage an informal friendly vote on the best save.

Anyone who still wants to jump in, it's OK. Just request a leader. You will have a bit of map knowledge, but it's not the end of the world.

So,

Ozbenno, I'm curious why you skipped Oracle when you saw Ghandi. He's not industrious.

It was more the fact he had Polytheism (I hadn't got around to Mysticism). He's one leader (like Mansu) who will beeline for Oracle. I had probably already left it too late anyways. I was a couple of turns from having to decide whether to research Mysticism, Polyheism, Priesthood to attempt the Oracle.

Although I will admit to thinking at first he was Industrious (and realising later he wasn't) . Wouldn't have changed my mind though.

Well as I had only just finished, had the time and WON'T have the time for a few days, let's get straight back in!

Spoiler :

New tech path is Pottery --> Alphabet --> Masonry (trade) --> Iron Working --> Mysticism (trade) --> Sailing (trade) --> Hunting (trade) --> Polytheism --> Literature --> Mathematics (trade) --> Priesthood (trade) --> Code of Laws

Istanbul builds Settler --> Granary --> Library --> Worker --> Settler --> Barracks --> worker --> Pyramids (for cash won't build it) --> Sword --> Hamann --> Great Library

Edirne builds Warrior --> Library --> Granary --> Axe

Ankara (for gold and elephants) and Bursa (for horses) founded.

Thought I had a coulple of screenies but don't

To me this is a game set up for any victory type you want. I'll have the GL soon, and am already tech leader (of the AI I know).

The only bummer is I don't know all the AI yet as my warriors kept getting eaten.

Yeah, I played on too because I like this map and leader.

So shall we press on to 375 BC. That's 50 turns.

Played extra turn to 350bc (coz I was one turn from Oracle (and I got it, picked up CoL and Confu)). Details to follow in spoiler.

Spoiler :
Focussed on expansion, military and getting early techs rather than bee-lining.

1760bc Nottingham founded (to north west of capital).

1160 Stonehenge BIAFL.

700 Hastings founded (west of capital).

550 Great Wall BIAFL. WTH no Oracle? start building it.

475bc Alphabet. No decent trades!

350. Oracle. CoL. Confu founded in Nottingham.

Got 4 garrison archers, 3 chariots,4 axes, sword.

Explored a bit with chariots. No open borders. Shaka and Nap annoyed with Gandhi, no obvious reason. Everyone cautious with us.

Yea, Id like to play but I got an intervention from a friend who came over and took my Civ and Warlords disc. I suppose I needed it. But he didnt take my BF2 Disc:goodjob:

Here's my write up to 375 BC

Spoiler :

Built Stonehenge for the happiness with charismatic. Hooked up Horses

Teched to IW then pottery and writing.

Declared on Shaka and put together a motley crew of Gallic warriors, axes and chariots.

Took Nobamba.

Built roads up through the jungle into Zululand.

But. not enough grunt to take that capital. Will bide time till construction, coming soon.

Prophet, and shrine built.

Weak on military and I'd like to get a couple of settlers out - Carthage can do that in short order thankfully. The best sites west are Indian and Zulu now, but there's space a plenty to the south and south west. Time to claim some of that. There one of two barb cities worth keeping south, Kassite:

Gandhi's done a bit of a bolter as a down side.

Now one has alphabet yet:

Something is wrong with this game.
I couldn't sign Defensive Pacts with anyone who has researched the

Tatran, sorry about the pemanent alliances. I would have like to see your master plan. As it is your game is compelling to watch. Beating up the barb cities.Roll on preatorians.

Kanga_DU. congrats on the ToA and Great Lighthouse. Trade route game, nice. Hadrumetum settled on the coast I guess to add to this strat. HBR for the UU. Things are hotting up,
but the impis will be a problem ?

regarding the demo screen, which statistic do you take the most interest it?
I guess for the tade routes, the import export figure will be important, but I dont personally understand it yet. What does that figure mean?

also , did you whip your axemen overflow into the wonders?

I forgot to add the save. Kanga_DU, Tataran, can you add your save. I want to compare some statistics just out of interest.

Fbelintani, what's Alex up to ?

I won't spoil anything, but I've finished the game.
Let's see how the other leaders at the original starting location are doing.
I'll post more info on my own game when the other players have catched up.

Here's the second save.

Ok, guys. I just finished my turns. But I don't have much time to report right now.

I'll do a short summary, though.

Spoiler :

My gamble on the alphabet early wasn't that successful. That Shaka wouldn't trade me anything. I gifted Poly, I think, and he still didn't give me any bonuses nor trades... So, I started on Poly -> Priesthood to grab CoL with the Oracle. And I got the Oracle by 575 BC.
I started the Great Library on Athens. And I'm going to whip overflow it!
Traded Agri for Priesthood and later IW for Alpha with Nappy. The same turn, traded a basket of techs with Gandhi for Alpha.
My future plans: WAR! I think I can wipe Shaka off in no time when I get cats (and I'm 4 turns away from Maths).

Guys, I have some time issues during Weekends. Can we put the next round due Tuesday, maybe?

The save:

Tuesday it is. round 3 : 50 more turns ...... to 800 AD.

Nice one Tatran.

Edit:

Here’s a comparison of the games.

Leader with most commerce per turn Victoria 46 comm/turn . Although Pigswill played 1 extra turn, I think this is due to being financial, and in my ‘trashgame’ experience Pigswill always manages to squeeze more commerce out of cities than other players.
Next best comm./turn Hannibal

Leader with the most hammers/turn Augustus. 35 H/ turn. That Rome site really pumps hammers

Leader with highest % land Augustus

Leader with highest % population Victoria

Leader with most ‘soldiers’ Brennus 100K

Leader with most wonders Hannibal

5 cities Augustus
4 cities, Mehemed Victoria
3 cities Brennus Alexander Hannibal

Happiest city, Istanbul 9 :) , (damn hamman beat me out:p )

Total beakers gained through teching, popping, or trade.

Alexander 3321
Mehemed 3154
Victoria 2924
Hannibal 2316
Brennus 2135
Augustus 1277

Alexander popped CoL with the Oracle but Mehemed didn’t which tells us that Mehemed did some pretty swift tech trading to get up there at 3154. Alexander also bagged a bunch with trading.

Pigswill, I wonder if you thought about Oracle for Mcasting and the Colossus. Wouldn’t it synergize with financial. OTOH it obsoletes and the shrine income form Confucianism will just build up. Was this your thinking? I know you tend to play a religious game.

For me the slow bake is Ozbenno’s Mehemed game. Those big cities with the Hamman could rule this map.:)
