Simple poll 4 choices chose 1. IF need be we will expand the poll after this one closes. Again its public.

robboo, the options may confuse some people as they are not the same as what is posted in the map thread :)

Ok what are your suggestions for choices.

We want to act on this quickly so to give Sirian time if we do indeed chose that route. That appears to be the route the other teams are leaning.

BCLG100

I have been giving this some thought. I assumed that the non-sirian map would cover him balancing the map. I also assumed that the all sirian option would be one extreme and the sirian map with some options would be another. Obviously is Sirian with some custom options is selected we would need to decide thsoe options.

So I dont quite see the problem. I was trying to get as few choices as possible so that the 10 of us dont dilute the votes to much.

Unless someone else really thinks this isnt a good poll can we at least see where it takes us?

i was just meaning we use the exact options that GA said in the thread, as they will have to be the one we finally vote on in the main forum.

i dun wanne discredit sirian, but i think he cant consider all strategical aspects of a map and more important a human may accidently give some team not obviouse but vast edges. which leads me to the conclusion, that a somehow randomized map, that is manualy balanced, may give fairer chances, than a totaly styled map. additionally imo a somehow randomized map brings more interesting or difficult strategical circumstances leading to trickier solutions providing more fun.

but a major drawback to that could be someone who gets an ice start or a desert start which would effectivly mean a crap game for that team.

I just remembered something else Sirian likes...the flipped axis games with the poles on the side. He has said it is his best map script.

I think Sirian will let the map engine generate a map then he will tweak it to ensure that its balanced. We have bigger thigns to worry about than if the map isnt fair. I have rarely seen any positions not be "fair"...only some are more "fair" than others.

Do this for an experiment... start a map with any parameters you want. as soon as it enters look at the worldbuilder. Count squares to copper, horse and iron for all civs. Look at the number of happiness resources, and health resources. Do this 10 times and I bet you would agre its fair for all....Do this at noble where everythign is equal not at a higher level or lower level where things get skewed to help the AI or the player.

I did this for a few GOTM using there settings..and the results were indeeed fair.

The 3 other teams by majority have selected Sirian custom made map. Our votes are now not needed.
