Marians: Sons of Mars

Yes, you have a casus belli on non-pagans. :) It's a two way street.

Whenever Domination gets back from vacation, i'll give Nubia my last trade agreement.
In March, but I'll still be on here, just not as regularly. But, I quit Rev and will have a limited amount of invested time in Enlightenment, so this game once again has top priority.

I'll take it if I have another trade agreement open. I'll let T-Fox confirm that.

Ahhh.. At the risk of letting the GM know my future plans, what nations are Confuci and border me?

Nubia can have 4 trade agreements, so yes, India can sign one.

Pakistan and Ormus are the only Confucian nations. :)

13 of India's provinces are Confucian and the rest pagan, however, so if you were to convert to Confucianism, you'd not only expand your casus belli options, but have a huge chance of converting most of India(being almost entirely pagan outside the Confucian zones) to Confucianism.

Accepted. :) and a conversion is in the cards (eventually). This way the Pagans to my north wont declare on me. Or at least shouldnt, with the Quin Empire (henceforth known as China) watching my back. Anyway, I plan to make the teachings of Confucius the largest religion in the world.

Creation of the Central Powers

The Austrian Archduke presided before a crowd in Vienna. Delivering a speech, the Archduke emphasised the importance of Central European cooperation.

"We are surrounded on two sides by the Iberian and Russian Empires. They can wipe us off the face of the map, with their strong economies, well-trained militaries, and their religious fervor. Germany and Austria, the prime powers of Central Europe, must band together. We must stand united, or fall divided."

Austria offers a defense pact to Germany and Outer Rus and signs one with Serbia.

This defensive alliance, if crafted, would control 154 provinces to Russia-Iberia's 159(Russia, Iberia, Astrakhan). It would have an income of 179 to 232. It would have 61 armies to 52.

*sigh* overreaction. gross overreaction. Russia has no plans nor do they wish to destroy Germany, Austria or any other state in the area. why would we *want* to?

also, its interesting to note that despite the central powers formation, we are still significantly more powerful.

to Iberia: would you consider an emergency gift of Gold to Russia so we can invest it all into civics? sorry to be a bother but that last revolt was a doozy.

For next turn, hire as much armies as humanly possible, put any other monies into reserve.

Not if the Central Powers extend to include their OTL ally, Turkey. That is, Rome. :p

Come next turn, the Emperador was actually planning on granting gold to Russia; the stability issues need to be addressed immediately.

Does this mean Britain declines Sweden's offer...?

well that might hurt. Rome has a CB against Russia, and we all know just how annoying they are to get rid of. we are debating strategies if and when they choose to declare war.

Come next turn, the Emperador was actually planning on granting gold to Russia; the stability issues need to be addressed immediately.

the Russian people thank the fair and Generous Emperador for their considerations of Russian Stability.

Sweden got no response from the British apart from more military forces being recruited, and so Sweden's navy enters the North Sea. The war-weary British navy is sunk without a fight, having been worn out.

Sweden's 7 armies make a landing, unopposed.

With 7 of Albion's 24 provinces under its control, Sweden stands ready to deal a horrible blow to the British.

The Swedes make an offer: they are not interested in a protracted campaign, and so will bow out on the condition that Scotland is turned over to them, and that Albion become a vassal.

You may now change one slider by one point in any direction.

Since there's almost no free land left, I've decided to lower revolt risk worldwide by making Civics once more be worth 5 support, as they were originally.

I will be automating Germany for this turn, or until whenever Arakhor gets back. Accordingly, Germany agrees to form the Central Alliance. Germany and Austria have entered a FULL ALLIANCE, while defensive pacts have been signed with eachothers' vassals/union partners. Serbia and Outer Rus don't have the capability to sign pacts of their own yet, but the current system more or less ties all the states together.

Iberia claims 2 provinces - one in Africa and one in Cape Verde.

Iberia earns 127 income.

Rather than give it to Russia by default, however, the Emperador instead orders an invasion of Takrur. Takrur has ended Iberia's ability to colonise Africa, and is also heathen, and so must pay the price.

Takrur only has one army, and so the first battle is 9-5, eliminating their army. They have 38 provinces, with 37 left after that assault. Iberia has 17 armies, and hires 20 more at the cost of 96 gold. These armies overrun Takrur.

Takrur is completely occupied, and so is annexed. This gives Iberia this turn's income since the entire country was overrun in a single swoop. Combined with their treasury, that's 73 gold to Iberia!

Takrur's research and built up techs add to Iberia's - 15 to Civics and Diplo, and 30 to Infra and Army!

---

Takrur's people are surprised to learn they have been given independence just days after it was taken. Having looted all the wealthy places it could, Iberia has no further interest in the land. It releases Takrur, albeit with 7 less territories.

Takrur is not turned into a vassal, being far too large to control and not possibly backstab Iberia later on. They are, however, forced to convert to Islam, thanks to a liberal amount of puppets being installed in their government.

---

70 gold is given to Russia free of charge out of goodwill. This is assigned to their Civics projects. This reduces their revolt risk down from 29 to 24.

We finish our Diplo research, leaving us with 20 gold.

We move towards centralisation.

----

Iberia decides to weaken the Carthaginian Empire. First, it severes the trade pact it has with Carthage and instead offers it to Russia.

After that, it is decided Hinduism must be eradicated. All 20 gold in the treasury goes towards converting Hindu provinces. 2 attempts are successful.

----

Of the 31 provinces Takrur has, they all now get a +36% chance of revolt. 13 rebel. Of the 18 that didn't rebel, they all have a 50% chance of conversion to Islam. 7 convert!

While Takrur manages to keep one rebel army at bay - destroying it by default - the rebels still have 12 armies, with which they are able to occupy 12 more provinces.

25 provinces are occupied by the rebels, who are unified in opposition to the weak, ineffective, Iberian-installed government. Only the Islamic provinces centered around the capital remain independent, and there's only 6 of them!

If Takrur doesn't get rid of the rebels by next turn's end, they'll have a government collapse. What price will they have to pay to get rid of the vast rebellion?

One Islamic province was conquered by pagan rebels, so they have a 20% chance of reverting it back to paganism. It fails.

I understand that warspam is quite profitable due to the "occupy all territories in a single turn to get all their income" concept, so a counterrule: you must wait 5 turns between a peace treaty and a new war.

Don't be afraid to be like the Aztecs and let certain areas run independent just so you can invade them every once in a while to get a fresh source of goodies!

Wait, what?

This is honestly a stupid rule. What if you get invaded? What if your ally gets invaded? What if the peace treaty was less than five turns?

This is a joke correct? It would definitely break the game.

I meant a peace treaty with nation x and war with nation x.

Meaning, I could invade Mali next turn if I desired, but not France or Takrur since they're still covered by a peace treaty.
