I was playing as Kongo the other day when I made the decision to settle Likasi, south of the gems, right on a marsh tile. A few turns earlier, I had contact with Japan, and looked at the trading screen to see what kind of techs we could share. While I did not find any tech trading opportunities, I realized that I was capable of trading away a marsh resource. It has no bonuses whatsoever, but it acts as a resource. It seems that when I founded a city on the marsh, it was like founded the city on any other resource.

Is this a glitch, or is this intended?

Part of the marsh graphics are implemented as a resource for some reason. It's not all that harmful though so I didn't bother to change it.

No, it's totally fine. I just found it a bit interesting.

I tried to trade it with everyone for anything, but no one is willing to take it unless its free, so I guess there's no big deal.

It's annoying when you turn on the resource bubbles, though.

I noticed that in my America game after I captured St. John's, which was settled on marsh. Unfortunately, it seems that no one wants to trade for it, though. :p

The thing is, if it's a resource, it can be assigned extra Yield bonuses with certain improvements (e.g. Forest Preserve). That would be interesting.

Marsh: +2 :commerce: with Forest Preserve.

?? I thought only Congo could settle on Marsh.

I thought that too. All I know is that it was there when I the map loaded. Maybe Britain went through an identity crisis?

There are marshes on Newfoundland that disappear after a while. In previous versions everything was removed but the marsh resource, rendering the spot settleable. This should not be the case anymore.
