Mayonnaise

I once had a case of food poisoning. I hadn't eaten mayo for several days before it started. But afterward, I just can't stand mayo anymore.

Hmmm...

I wonder what a mayo and crunchy peanut butter sandwich would taste like.

Ummm...both are good and all, but...

Pass.

Feel free to try.

I hate mayo. a LOT. I also hate mustard.

:goodjob: Might as well end the thread here. Anybody who can disagree with this is just... well, there is no place on Earth for their ilk.

There's no place for you mustardless-turkey heretics either!
Boys boys, Mobby didn't specifically mention no mayo in that post so, we can all agree with it. And honsetly, the mustard can go either way. Too much would drown out the juicy meat flavor, but the just right amount gives it the extra bite that too me adds quite a lot. I might also go with a bit of cracked pepper too.

me too... Miracle Whip is the way to go (not trying to promote any products here)
You disgust me :cringe:

I can understand not liking mayo or mustard (barely), but to hate mayo and to like miracle whip is just plain wrong.

I only like Hellmans Mayonnaise, I only like Frenchs Mustard and I only like Heinz Ketchup. I love the ketchup the most. Really love HP sauce too.
You gotta be kidding.

well, I like mustard, but mayo.... ewww.... I guess it depends on what you're raised on.... like milk... Whole vs. 2%/1% vs. Skim

I didn't know Hellman's Mayonnaise is such a hit, I have one in my refirgerator all the time.

Yeah, but you can transcend that. For example, I was raised on 2%, but prefer whole.

I'm sure you can do the same with mayo... If I started eating only mayo, I'm sure eventually I'd get used to it, and like it better than Miracle Whip... but for now.... I can't stand mayo

I don't even use the word mayonaise unless I'm saying "mayonaise a lot a people in here".

I've actually made some myself. I don't think its all that difficult and it is tasty but so many people praise it as the best. I just think its over rated. Remulade (sp?) is way better.

Remoulade is good too. And tbh I didn't know that so many people actually praised Bearnaise as the best sauce ever in the US. Kind of ruins what I wanted to be an elitist, arrogant comment

French's mustard is neither French nor mustard, but it IS an abomination unto cooking.

Well, it is French's.

It has one use: bad hot dogs. Bad mustard will make a bad hot dog slightly more palatable. Not that I eat a lot of bad hot dogs, but just sayin'.

Does anyone have any good make-your-own-mustard resources? I've wanted to make my own for several years but haven't found a good guide.

I rarely eat my Kebabs with garlic mayonaise.
But tzatziki(however that's spelt) sauce is just a non-disgusting version of it - so i usualy have that.

This thread makes me proud of being Catalan.

PS: Mayonnaise comes from Minorca, which is part of the Catalan culture's sphere.

Starting base

3 tablespoons yellow mustard seeds ( or ground mustard )
2 1/2 tablespoons brown mustard seeds ( or ground mustard )
1/3 cup white wine
1/3 cup white wine vinegar

Mix together in a glass or porcelain bowl and sit over night in fridge. Then pour into blander and blend away until you get the consistency you want.

To that base you can add other things like a honey, brown sugar, some hot sauce, ground pepper (white preferably over black), citrus juice and other spices like all spice or garlic

Yeah, but mayo is naturally better then miracle whip. It's more flavorful and wonderful.
