AD 1700 Turn 0

Check status & strategy posts

Finishing up movement, notice there are 2 redlined Han MI on a stack of arty. Would rather
capture that arty than let Han use it next turn. Killed 2 MI, captured 4 arty.
Sub locates a Han transport / battleship
Balanced defenders some in Airport-1, Airport-2

IBT -- got a sheet of paper and pen, expecting a long and arduous IBT

Form MI army and pillaging band
Misc naval movement and airlift

IBT

Darn it, I went to see if there was guidance on what to do when the Korea lux deal expires, and
there is a reminder to hurry the 2nd airport. I knew there was something else to do... :wallbash:

Korea incense deal comes up, they don't want to renew
Original deal is we give furs, silks, 95gpt
new deal is we give furs, silks, coal, 79gpt
they have a bunch of railroads already doesn't seem like it would hurt, so go ahead

Han lose 5 MA and 1 Battleship
We lose 6 MA and 1 MI
Han divert several offensive units (around 6 MA) to attacking Korea

An army (1 inf, 2 tanks) lands on our mainland near Kyoto which is undefended.

2 cities riot
Complete 5 MA, 2 arty, 1 bomber, 1 explorer, 1 destroyer, 1 airport (on kuki island)

Turn 2, 1710 AD 1369g+28gpt
Hurry airport in airport-2 before I forget again, for 312g
Kill the invading army using 2 MA, redlined 1 and the other untouched
Sub kills a destroyer
Kill a ironclad and redline a battleship, while losing a battleship

Tientsin area
Lose 1 MA, destroy 2MA, tower
Pillaging party starts in, taking care to leave one railroaded path for advance of following units
Kill 2 MA, no losses
Lose 3 bombers to jet fighters

Han have completed 5 SS parts

IBT

Han use 2 cruise missiles, action too fast to see what happened
ironclad redlines a full transport (escort already redline)
lost 5 MA and 2 MI in defending against 5 MA

5 towns riot
Completed 1 airport, 1 commercial dock, 1 MI, 1 Explorer, 1 arty, 5 MA

Turn 3, 1715 AD

Muroto: destroy 1 MA, 1 Cav, capture city, 37g. producing temple. Han evicted from N island

Tientsen: advance settler Kill 1MA, 1MI on 0 losses
Detach chengdu rubber via naval bombardment
lost 1 bomber to a fighter

We are now strong vs han
Offensively they are down to 18 MA and 11 cruise missiles

IBT

We lose 8 MA, 1 MI, some workers, and a couple of arty, on Han losses of 9 MA.
See several Han MA going for Korea, and several Korea MA going for Han.

produce 2 MA, 1 bomber, 1 duct. 2 cities riot.

Turn 4, 1720 AD

Build Ogaki-2 to shorten travel time to front
Kill 3 MA, 2 MI, capture 1 arty outside cities on losses of 1 MA
lose 7 bombers to fighters without doing enough damage to risk a full-scale attack

Move a bunch of troops from former Shimazu land over to beachhead

IBT

Korea deal up for renewal, they give 30gpt for wool. Surprised it wasn't just
cancelled given the last negotiation. Accept it for renewal.

Han lost 5 MA to our 2 MA, 1 MI, and captured 4 explorers

2 riots
produced 12 MA, 1 MI, 1 arty, 1 temple

Turn 5, 1725 AD

Arty / bombers take 6hp off 5 MI defenders [edit] most hits were on population (bombed it down below 6 which took away all the city/metro bonuses) and buildings (they had a full complement, and were decimated by the bombardment) [/edit]
we destroy Tientsen, 5 MI, 1 Inf, 3 MA, 1 jet fighter, capture 39g, 7 workers, 8 arty.
Seti is destroyed (wouldn't be useful to us in this position anyway)
Lost 10 MA in the process

Turnover:
Transport enroute from mainland to beachhead primarily with arty
Landed a stack on Korea N. shore, making use of ROP
a battleship should be ready to disconnect the other rubber source next turn
settler in place to build on ruins of Tientsen (or next tile over), so the RR can
be used full speed for attacking units.

Probably don't need any more explorers but i didn't mess with builds
building some cruise missiles for use on tougher defenders and as we extend the lines,
need some MI for defense of target points, and to defend arty stacks.

Nice work Dave - I got it - I'll start after I finish BDS (Babylon Diety Settler) turns today - I'll post an update after a couple of turns - depending on time I'll play either 5 or 10

Sorry I took so long to comment. I know how it feels when you've laboured over the turns, you crave feedback. You did well to get them of the Choso island. :goodjob: Good thinking in using the ships to disconnect their Rubber.

The settler is in a good spot but feels a bit exposed being guarded by injured units, it needs more protection. The Once the city is founded we will need to populate the mountains.

edit: BTW good to see that Korea is in Anarchy ATM, we don't need anyone to build them stinkin' SSS parts anymore.

Need to find Apollo and destroy it. I would hazard my guess it's in Beijing. An investigation may in order. Nice work on ridding the Han from the northers areas. We can now mobilize all our forces to Han continent for continued agression. Keep a few forces for coverage and try to get population up for points. We can now raze Han cities to continue the Hand it to Han operation.
Good luck Denyd! Hope to be destrying Apollo soon!

For all you lurkers, a screenshot of the current situation in the Hammer-the-Han operation:

A picture's worth a thousand words Space :)

It looks as if we're going to have trouble until we occupy & hold that mountain range. Once we hold the heights we can bear the brunt of any countterattack the Han can mount and then sweep down onto the plains cities.

I must admit I never envisaged such a tight ending to this game when we started :)

Just a quick note: After turn 1 you can switch Chengdu to size 5 Oda Blue city - I started with the idea to move down the coast and inland at the bottom of the map and let Korea have the Northern Han cities, but I might need to change this strategy.

War weariness is requiring a 50% lux rate - would a switch to Communism or Monarchy benefit us?

I might have enough for a steal attempt next turn, preference between Space Flight & Nuclear Power?

I'll check back later.

This is the long haul now and I don't see another switch in sight unless we milk the ending. I also like nuclear reactors with the 200%, IF, the 200%, would help a few cities improve to 1 or 2 turn MA producers. Patience in this war may be key because we can win attrition war. Whittle them down with MI fortified in mountains and artillary barrages. The only problem is the Han space program. We may need to take 8 MI, 20-30 artillery and 4-6 MA and slowly make our way to city building it 1 tile at a time using mountains where we can. Set up to barrage and decrease pop and hopefully raze it prior to launch. Any chance on a city investigation each turn to find Apollo. I like the steal first though.

After turn 2 add Kangyang & Hangchow to our collection :hammer:

And Shangtung should fall next turn giving a path to Shanghai & Beijing (where the spaceship should be)

Also for those interested, I've pillaged the final Han Aluminum source :D

More to come tomorrow night

IT's a lot of work but managing all the units pays off. Keep 'em flying in Denyd. It's hammer time.

After hearing of 3 more cities taken in Denyd's first two turns, I'm hoping my choice of taking Tientsin in the hills first hasn't cost us too much.

Good move taking out the aluminum, there are some SS parts you can't start without it. Did you get the other rubber source too? If so they shouldn't be able to start new MI/MA and it's a matter of taking a bigger piece of the the Han than Korea does.

I had looked for the rubber source and couldn't find it, but I just checked again and it's on the island. I'll send a transport that way.

I also sent a transport to pick up our marine to help finish off the last Shimazu city.

MapStat says were over on population and about 90 tiles from domination victory. When we get the number lower, I'll start abandoning totally corrupt cities.

Any thoughts on what to do with a GL if we happen get one?

Palace jump? Another army? Airport Rush?

I've got a choice coming next turn (missed by 27g this one), on trying to steal a tech? If I get one, Nuclear (200% power plants) or Space Flight (tactical nukes)?

I'm thinking about Genetics for the next tech. If get a GL, we could rush Cure for Cancer. That would make a few less people unhappy.

I'll also try to get the last uranium site on the way from Shanghai to Beijing.

Just a question, why three cities named Ogaki2?

To start with the last question: the Oda seem to have a rather short city name list, so that the same names continue to pop up.

There was a battleship poised to bombard the second rubber, where is it now, that might be quicker to arrange than a transport with the right cargo.

I don't think we need another airport, and building a Palace will hurt our current production line. So my vote goes to another army.

I think Space is right, another Army seems the most practical use for any GLs you might generate.
