McCIV-01 Prince McShuffle

Attacking accross the ocean sounds likes a plan to me. So armstrong get those 25! workers building workshops! :whipped:

Workshops will be very nice, I'm sure.
But I still don't understand why you want to go overseas first. :confused: HC may be close to rifles you say - so that's one more reason to take him out NOW, before he gets them built! Otherwise we'd probably wait until tanks, and such a big advantage as we have now will never again come back.

What do we have to gain by attacking Gandhi first? We need to spend hammers on ships, and slow ourselves down - in fact I'd dare to estimate that by the time we even hit Gandhi's first city, we could already own half of HC's territory. We lose a lot of time overseas, and if they are further behind us in tech, imo that's one more reason why we can wait before picking them off. Capturing HC's land gives us a very strong home continent, that's easily defendable on top of that. Gandhi's cities would be bordering with the buddhists and may even be in danger of flipping. Anything we produce over there we'd have to ship back home if we want to finish HC later.

The biggest thing we gain by cleaning up at home first, is simply a time and production advantage. Each turn we're faster to capture additional cities is a turn more they produce and research for us. Waiting to build an invasion fleet while having our troops sitting around is a waste of time.

Well, I can't play tonight - too many SG's at once. I can play at work tomorrow though, so only skip me if someone really wants to play now :) The idea of going across the sea before HC was Xtream's, not mine, but I think it has definite merit. We're getting 4 resources from HC atm that we'd lose when we declared - it'd be 4-5 unhappiness just in Moscow. Also, we have a huge border with HC - a continent and a half - so he can potentially screw us over more than landing an expeditionary force in Monty's lands. HC has some serious "power" he's been building up, as opposed to, say, Gandhi. Why not go for the "low hanging fruit?" to use an "in the box" expression. :)

That's my take. :)

Okay, turns played. Sorry for the delay.

Astronomy is coming in in 2 turns, but we run out of money next turn: I spent a lot of our money upgrading axers to Grens in the south (to free up Cossacks) and our 4 cat stack to cannons (creating a slow, but powerful attack for with 1 cossack escort.) The gren->axers upgrade was probably a waste, but I don't know if we're even ready to start building galleons right away, anyway (no drydocks have been built yet.)

I ended up declaring on Huayna - he turned out to be a paper alpaca, too. I don't think he's sent a single unit our way. Aren't these AI's supposed to keep their "Stacks of Doom" somewhere? Sheesh.

Mao is down to 1 city that's in the far south, by Tyre area. We have a few Cossacks en route, but Huayna has a city in the way first. We've taken 2 of HC's cities, razed 2 more, and have 9 to go. Most of our cossacks in the north are resting after taking HC's core cities, but we have the aforementioned Cossack+4 Cannon stack on the move.

I've organzed our workers into 8 groups of 3 each, along with 2 "freelancers" waiting for an Incan to join them. Why 3? Because workshops take 9 worker turns on Epic with a 50% speed bonus (Hagia Sophia.) Also, it takes 3 turns to build roads, so it seemed like a good number.

I built Oxford in Persepolis because, well, it was going to go there, damn it. ;) Totally worthless, but it doesn't really matter that much.

We finally got a Great Prophet for a shrine. Sheesh, we could have used that when we were actually researching! Still, it's really good money - in the ballpark of 40 gpt.

Right now just about everything is building theatres/coliseums (for happiness), barracks, courthouses, or cossacks, with a few legacy builds leftover. I have some grenadierss being built. :smoke: I was building them to defend cities, but then I realized that Cossacks are better against knights due to their higher strength & bonus against mounted units. You can switch 'em to something else, or let 'em finish.

I don't think anyone is much of a threat at all to us right now. Right now, we just need to finish off HC & Mao, and build boats & military, and ship 'em overseas.

I wonder if this will end up being my last turnset? :( I probably have one more left... :D It's been a great game! :goodjob:

Are you hiring? My current job is a real drag on my Civ time.

Nice turns armstrong. It does look like just a matter of a short time before we win this.

BTW - How did you do that with your turnlog? It looks like an in-game function, but the comments and all are recorded too?

It's ruff_hi's SG mod - you can find it in his signature if you can track down one of his posts ;) You start the autologger by pressing Alt-L, and then can make comments with Alt-E. You need to make sure to click "Ok" after a comment, instead of just pressing enter, or it won't stick though.

It's really handy - I can keep track of what's going on without having to alt-tab to takes notes. Saves a bundle of time :)

Pre-turn

Everything looks really good. A lot has happened since I last played. It's pretty straight forward as to how to proceed. Take out Huyana, and see how far we are from domination while we prepare to go to the other Continent. Obviously we're going to keep the cities we capture since there are no settlers about. Our hammers are best spent on other things, and precise city placment isn't much of an issue at this point. Cossacks vs. Longbows. The only thing that could hinder our progress is war weariness, which is already taking a toll.

Hit Enter
St. Pete: Grocer -> Coliseum
Pasargadae: Bank -> Cossack
Persepolis: Theater -> Bank

Turn 1) 1592 AD
Took a crack at Vilcas with only 2 Cossacks. 1st wins vs. Longbow but is badly injured. Decide not to go with the 2nd who is already partially injured and move back into Russian territory to heal.
Cossack + Cannon stack edges toward Ollantayambo
Worker moves.
Healing Forces

IT
Gandhi comes to us with an offer...
GandhiLuxTrade.jpg

Decide to take the deal, will help with happiness
Alexander offers us bananas for sheep, but we tell him he's got a deal if he serves up some nice Dyes instead.
Arbela: Granary -> Lighthouse
We learn Astronomy. Set research toward replaceable parts for those nice lumbermills.

Turn 2) 1595 AD
All in all a pretty quiet turn. Some worker moves and moving troops into position.
Versailles and the FP would be really nice, so I trade Liberalism to Gandhi for Divine Right + 360 gold. Not a very useful tech to him right now.

IT
Alexander cancels our open borders.
Gandhi demands that we cancel our deals with the Greek. Politely decline. In doing so notice that he's willing to give us some furs, Trade him some nice ham for them.
Rostov: Coliseum -> Cossack
Yekaterinburg: Theater -> Aqueduct
Anasazi: Rax -> Cossack
Beijing: Grenadier -> Versailles (I know it wasn't discussed but it's really quite a nice boost to the economy. With the addition of the luxuries afforded by Astronomy, we're running 60% science at -5 gpt. If it wasn't for the Gandhi tech trade we'd be at 50% right now.

Turn 3) 1598 AD
Attack Zapotec defended by a Mace and a Longbow with 2 Cossacks. 1st Cossack loses to the mace, and the 2nd retreats from the Longbow. Odds for both were better than 70%.
Bombard defenses of Ollantayambo to 6% and attack 2 Longbows and a Mace with 3 Cossacks. 1st 2 Cossacks defeat the Longbows, but the 3rd loses to the Mace. What is it with these Incan Maces?
Sell Divine Right to Alexander for 440 gold. Up research to 70%.

IT
An Incan Mace comes out of Zapotec and kills the Cossack that had retreated.
Moscow: Cossack -> Cossack
Susa: Cossack -> Cossack

Turn 4) 1601 AD
Bombard the last 6% cultural defense off of Olly. Attack with a Cossack and beat a Mace
ollyfalls.jpg

Trade Pigs and Silk to Alexander for Bananna's and Wine
Trade Liberalism to Hathesput for 490 gold.

IT
Guangzhou: Theater -> Cossack
Huyana converts to Christianity

Turn 5) 1604 AD
Doc Wilson nearly dies avenging his Comrade's death vs. the Zapotec Mace.
Healing & positioning troops.

IT
The reisistance ends in Corihuayrachwa, set it to build a Rax

Turn 6) 1607 AD
3 Cossacks attack a Longbow and a Crossbow in Vilcas. 1st Cossack loses, but the other 2 get the job done. Vilcas is ours.
6 Cossacks & a Grenadier defeat 6 units in Machu Pichu and we lose 1 Cossack in the process.

IT
Resistance in Tiwanaku ends and begin building a Theater

Turn 7) 1610 AD
Healing units, moving cannons in on Cuzco.

IT
We gain knowledge of Replaceable Parts, set research to Physics for the free Great Scientist.
Arbela: Lighthouse -> Galleon
Ansasani: Cossack -> Cannon

Turn 8) 1613 AD
Nothing much this turn. Healing Cossacks, moving on Cuzco, begin building some Lumbermills.

IT
Nothing

Turn 9) 1616 AD
Huyana had founded Nasca W of Anasazi. Autorazed it with a Cossack attack.
Bombard Cuzco defense down to 18%. Despite very high odds in our favor, lose 2 Cossacks in the ensuing attack vs. 2 Longbows and 2 Pikes.

IT
'slavol: Cossack -> Cannon
Pasargadae: Cossack -> Cossack

Turn 10) 1619 AD
Bombard remaining cultural defense bonus at Cuzco. 2 Cossacks win vs. an injured Longbow and Pike.
Cuzcofalls.jpg

It contains the Parthenon (50% GP increase in all cities) and an Academy!

Could have used better luck with the RNG, but otherwise I'm pretty satisfied with my turns. The lux deals with the other Continent have made things easier on our War Weariness.

*****The Save*****

Sounds like rough luck with the RNG... sometimes you eat the bar, sometimes the bar eats you. Actually, during my turnset I didn't lose a single fight, despite lots of 75%'s, so it evens out. ;)

I have no problem with the Versaille trade at all, or building it. Liberalism isn't going to get anyone Rifles. :) I guess it will put them closer to Infantry, but the game should be over well before that. Edit: Wait, Versailles or Spiral Minaret? Versailles doesn't help us, since we're running State Property (no distance costs already.)

For war-weariness, we can just build theatres in our cities and crank the culture slider - we don't need any more techs. That being said, I think Physics is a great idea - the free scientist will discover most of Biology for us I think, which would be useful for us. After that, just gold and culture I think :) Or, we could alternatively use the GS for a golden age once all of HC's cities come on line. That might be better :) Our next GP comes in 3 turns.

Right, looks like im up. McLman was really unlucky with probabilities there, im hoping I get more luck. Despite that he did a good job of removing Huayna’s core cities so hopefully he’ll be relatively easily to finish off.
I’m not going to have time to play til early Saturday but I’ve got a few ideas of what im going to do….

I was wondering if it is worth building a bank in moscow, Moscow produces 30 ish gpt (at the current science rate), it will take 9 turns to build and give us an extra 50% gold. Seems worth it to me unless we are going to remove the towns for work shops?

I think we could lower the science rate as we’re running at -100ish per turn, there is no real hurry for science anymore and we’re miles ahead of the nearest civs so we will still easily get physics first. So save the money for upgrading?

At some point we need to start working on galleons and frigates so building them will need to start in the near future.

Any thoughts?

We need to keep some cities with commerce, so Moscow's the logical choice. A bank would be good there, but perhaps a Drydock->a few ships first is better?

Let's just get Physics now, maybe Biology if you choose to use the free physicist for that, and then turn the gold & culture up. :) We don't really have much left to upgrade anymore (since our Cossacks are all modern...) I guess we could upgrade our ships, though.

Running at, say, 30%-50% culture will not only ensure we don't get WW, it will help us get border expansions for quicker domination.

Paulsy said:

Yep. :) Remember, we can build Drydocks now too :)

One thing, we should buy a world map (can possibly trade ours?) to someone overseas so we can find out where best to land. We might only need to fight one more war to get domination - HC had a lot of land.

Goes to show what I know about State Property. I thought Versailles would help "overall", didn't realize it just helped distance costs.

We can keep our research rather high if we sell obsolete techs to the AI. It's the sole reason I traded Divine Right to Alexander.

There is still a long way to go with the Inca war. He did have a ton of land, and still has a nice chunk left.

Aims: Finish off Huyena.
Build some drydocks for ship production.
Research physics.

Drop science by 10%, it saves us 70gpt and we’ll get physics in 10 rather than 9 turns.

Turn 1, 1622 AD

Yekater. Aqueduct -> Cossack
Change Beijing from Versailles to theatre

I see a barb city to the W of Curzco, the Cossacks currently healing there can attck the barb city in a few turns.
Cossck defeats knight NE of Humanga, Cossacks move towards the city which will be the next target

Turn 2, 1625AD:

Alex wants us to join him in attacking Gandhi, I say no.
Ollantaytambo comes online, I start building a theatre.
Susa Cossack -> Drydock.
Moscow Cossack -> Cossack

Two Cossacks defeat two longbows in Zapotec, only a cat left there before it’s ours.
Five Cossacks take out 3 longbows and pikeman and a knight in Humanga.

Turn 3, 1628AD
A barb warrior! appears near Tyre.
A great scientist appears in Novo.. I use him to help us towards physics (we’ll now get it in 3)
War weariness is causing more unhappiness, up culture to 20%, science is now 50%. We’re running at -28gpt but will get physics in 3.

Guanzahou Theatre -> Cossack
Tiwanda Theatre -> Market – this city could be a useful commerce city.
Corihuay…(some of this Incan cities are a pain to type + spell!) comes online, starts a theatre.

Our two Cossacks remove two cats in Zapotec, we get 135 gold and the city is ours.
Two Cossacks attack two longbows in the barb city of Burgindian, the city is auto razed.
Two Cossacks kill at knight and a cat, Huamana and 135 gold is ours. I promote one of the Cossacks to medic I, we now have 5 cossacks healing and ready to go for Vitcos in 4 turns
Alexander offers us open borders, I check to see what else we can trade and manage to get 12 gpt for spices! Bargin!

Turn 4, 1631AD
Nanjing Courhouse -> theatre
Anasazi Theatre -> Granary

I trade Maps with Hatty and start to send a caravel over to the other continent to look for possible places to land / attack.
Cossack unsurprisingly beats barb warrior near Tyre.

Turn 5, 1634AD
Rostov Cossack -> drydock.
Vilcas and Machu Picchu start theatres
A barb city appears NW of Zapotec, a Cossack quickly defeats one of the longbows there.
Cossack beats barb archer (he came out of nowhere) a little way north of Shanghi.
Cossacks and cannons approach Vilcabamba.

Turn 6, 1637AD
Physics comes in, start on biology (done in 11). Use Great Scientist to help researching biology (now in in 7)
Moscow Cossack -> drydock
Tarsus barnk -> theatre

Barb city of Karzhak is auto razed as our Cossack beats longbowman.
Not much else really, just moving making workers work and moving Cossacks into position.

Turn 7, 1640 AD
St Petersberg Coliseum -> Cossack
Yaroslaval Cannon -> drydock
Pasagardae Cossack -> Cossack.
Arbella Galeon -> Forge

Bombard Vilcabamba with 3 cannons, the other cannon causes collateral damage and destroys a longbow in the process. Three Cossacks kill a pike and two longbows, 154 gold and Vicabamba is now Russian!
Cossacks move towards Vitcos.

Turn 8, 1643AD
Corihu Theatre -> library
Cuzco starts on a theatre.
4 Cossacks beat 2 longbows, a xbow and a cat in Vitcos (nearly captured).

Turn 9, 1646AD
Nanjing Theatre -> Granary
Zapotec starts theatre.
Trade Gems for Gold with Alex. Trade pigs for 7gpt with Hatty.

Three Cossacks beats three cats in Vitcos, it is ours!
Two Cossacks kill a longbow and a mace in Andahuaylas
Declare war on Qin to take his last city (Macau).

Turn 10 1649AD
Yekint. Cossack -> Cossack.
Tarsus Theatre -> Market (feel free to change this)
Susa DryDock -> Frigate
Anasazi Granary -> Forge
Guanghu Cossack -> Cossack

4 Cossacks kill 3 longbows and a pikeman in Macau (one unit left to kill).
Cossack kills cat in Andahuaylas. We claim the city and some gold. Huayna Capac is no more! :)

Post turn: Pretty successful! We’ve removed Huayna Capac from the game and Qin will be leaving us next turn. I don’t think I lost a single unit in those turns :) (they were mostly 85+% chances in our favour), but most of the work had been done remove the Incan core cities in the turns before. Although there is war weariness all over the place it will finish when we’ve taken Macau next turn (keep the city, plenty of bonus resources)!
Susa is able to pump out experienced naval units at the rate of one every four turns and once the drydock is finished in Moscow that will be a busy ship building city too!
We’re a few turns away from finishing biology so any thoughts on next tech would be good. Maybe towards combustion?

i have to skip :( and i wont be able to play from july 2 to ??? just skip until i return
