McCIV-01 Prince McShuffle

Have started playing but wont get to finish until tomorrow. What chinese cities do people think we should raze / keep.

I was thinking keep Shanghi, Guangzhou as they will be useful commerce producers.

Raze Xian (one sqr from coast), Tianjin and Chengu?

i doubt i'll reach beijing in my turns.

I agree that Shanghai, Guangzho, and Beijing are all keepers.

Chengdu is iffy, but it can probably pay for itself (it has two villages and a hamlet.) I don't really know, though. I wouldn't shed any tears if it gets razed ;)

I'd definitely raze Tianjin. It overlaps too much, and is underdeveloped.

I'd keep Xian. It's location is bad, but it's already there and developed. Plus, it has at least one wonder (the Hagia Sophia.)

Aims…
1. Head towards communism
2a. Finish moving forces towards the Chinese
2b Attack the Chinese.

Pre Turn: Don’t bother to look at micro management of cites as Armstrong seems to be the king of MM.

Turn1, 1484AD Our southern force of Cossacks destroy Kushans. More moving of units into position.

Turn 2, 1490 AD : Caravel is attacked but destroys barb galley near Arbella.

Hanno’s caravel hits greek land, the second caravel with merchant now onboard has set sail for Greece

Turn 3, 1496AD:

Susa and Tarsus start on a banks.
Moscow Cossack -> Cossack.

Move some workers away from Chinese lands so Qin can’t attack them.

We attack Qin, and take Chengu with 3 cossacks attacking and all winning, netting us over 110 gold in the process, I raze the city.
Cossack attacks Tianjin pikeman and wins, although I contemplated dropping science down for 1 turn so we can afford to upgrade the axeman to grenadier there is another Cossack arriving from the south to take the longbow next turn.

Turn 4 1502AD:

Another barb galley turns up near Arbella is luckily kills our half healthy caravel and destroys fishing boats. Bring the caravel with merchant on board back to defend other fishes further up the coast.

Yek Cossack -> Cossack.

Cossack arriving from the south does the business killing the longbow in Tianjin, raze the city.
Qin very nicely moves a double promoted choc chok thingy and a promoted longbow out of Xian. I kill them both and steal the settler (now worker) they were guarding.
Our first Great Merchant now in Greek land, finds Athens. (pic below)

Our next Chinese target will be Shanghai with our northern units as it is only guarded by an axe and a longbow.

I will attack Guangzho with our southern force once they have arrived.

Turn 5 1508AD:
War weariness is becoming a bit of a pain.
Whip in grocer at Nov. the city will grow next turn and be just below its unhappy / unhealthy limits.
Do some MM in Moscow as we’re losing food due to the unhappiness.

Huayna asks us for Philosophy, I say no as we’ll soon be destroying him.

Caravel with merchant on board is nearly back in range of the barb galley near Arbella.

Move units into position for our next assaults.

Turn 6, 1514AD:
Nov. Grocer -> Cossack although a bank might be useful in the near future.
Rostov Forge ->
Pasgardae Forge -> Bank. This will turn out to produce plenty of commerce once it has grown a bit more.

We receive 2250 gold for our first great merchant’s trade mission to a size 13 Athens. Move science up to 90% to get Scientific Method in two turns.

Carvel with great merchant destroys barb galley as it was moving up the coast. ( Don’t worry I didn’t gamble losing our GM we had a >99.5% chance of winning that battle)

Turn 7, 1520AD: Gandhi wants us to stop trading with Alexander, I tell Gandhi where to go!

Attack Shangai with Cossack (85%) which ends up having to withdraw from combat but has done plenty of damage to the longbow. Our next two Cossacks remove the mace and remains of the longbow without a problem.

Qin moves city defence promoted longbows out of Xian and into the open, I thank him by attacking some of them with nearby Cossacks which are heading for Xian.
Turn science down 10% so we will still get SM next turn but only losing about 100 gpt.

Turn 8, 1524AD:
We discover Scientific Method so head to communism (will arrive in 9). Oil appears in a few places, one of them where “Thrar’s better city” is meant to be placed. Another is one tile SW of where Chengdu was.

Our cosscks NE of Xian “remove” the last longbow that was guarding a settler. We get another worker!
Susa starts a work boat to replace the one lost near Arbella, it will be finished in 3.
Bombard Guangzhou with some cats to make sure our Cossacks don’t have too much trouble taking the city.

Turn 9, 1526AD:

3 cossacks attack Guangzhou and beat 2 longbows and a maceman without losing any health between them! Cossack defeats archer (no surprise there) and we claim Guangzhou earning another 100 odd gold.

A cheeky Chinese Cho-choc-kno and a cat enters our land near pasagardae, a near by Cossack kills one unit.

Turn 10 1529AD:

The Cossack kills the catapult after pillages a plantation.
Alexander declares war on Gandhi.

A couple of Cossacks attack Xian, one kills a longbow one kills a mace, only a cho-ko-nu left.

A couple of quick points... war weariness is causing some unhappiness, me could move the culture slider but also worth deciding if we want to completely remove Qin off the continent or maybe make peace and hit Huayna with some cossacks?

Whoever picks up dont take Xian this turn as the cossack which will claim the city will be on its own to defend the city at the end of the turn.

West Point can be built, as can Oxford Uni.

Haven't got it yet, but will soon.
I don't expect Qin to see the end of my turnset. Better take him out now, so we don't get the motherland unhappiness and have to redeclare war later. Only expection would be a really yummy tech, which I doubt he'll have.

I'll have to see where the chinese forces are, but I think I'll take Xi'an anyway this turn. Defense 18 (- damage) is nothing to sneeze at.

Okay, things look great. Qin only has Beijing, Xian, and his two marginal cities on Huayna's border left! :goodjob:

A few things:

1. Xian is in range of a counterattack from Beijing. Not that it's necessarily bad if Qin throws some longbowmen or something at us, but it's risky as we don't have religious scouting in that city.

2. Huayna has knights. We're going to need a couple of cossacks in the south to prevent him from attacking Tyre & Anasazi.

3. You know I found out last night? You can get ocean-going craft without ever getting Astronomy. I was on an Archipelago map that was completely connected by galley routes, so I didn't need Astronomy for trade routes. I skipped it, went to Combustion, and had destroyers & transports without ever being able to build galleons & frigates! If we're going for a military route, it's something to consider.

4. Speaking of which, now that Qin's basically gone, how would you all like to win? We have sufficient land right now, I think, for a pretty comfortable space ship win. We're way ahead in tech, and humans are much better at the production game. On the other hand, it will probably be more interesting to go for Domination. With Domination, I see two routes:

* Steel + Astronomy. Have our workers workshop everything once we get those two techs in place, and overrun the world with Cossacks, Cannons, and Grens. That force should be potent enough to take over the world before we see anything scarier than a Rifleman. I've never tried a "fast" conquest like that before, but it seems plausible (we're up Liberalism, Nationalism, Education, and Printing Press, and Gunpowder on everyone, so everyone's at least 4 techs away from Rifling.)

* Play it safer. Get Combustion, Assembly Line, Railroad, Industrialism. Crank out a massive modern army using the huge production advantage we can get.

I also think we could get a pretty easy "fake" diplomacy win once we have Huayna's land. Grab biology, beeline to Mass Media, farm everything.

What do you think? And what do you think our next tech should be?

Sorry guys, I have to ask for a skip.
I took a look at the save, there are some cossacks behind the front lines that still have some moves, and we should really get 10% culture these days.

I'm afraid I won't be able to play my turnset soon, so I'll pass this time.

i think we should go for Domination victory and skip the Spaceship because Spaceships are Crap. and they are for people who cant get a real victory so they think " Hey im going to build a spaceship because i cant kill my enemy" Stop with the pacisim and get a life LOL JKIN :) i just watched a very offencive cartoon about some squral named foamy on newgrounds LOL

Oh yah i have a got it here now

My goals are
Finish of the chiniese
try and get tech to invade the other contients

It tend to go for space race victories only when I can't win any other way so i quite fancy attempting a fast domination win.

I reckon next tech should be steel as astronomy will obsolete one of our wonders so the longer we put it off the better.

Okay during my turnset i got done reserching communism and switched to state property as we were planing on doing. so now we are communist and should change our name To the soviet union (just a suggestion). And i was able to take Bejing and Xian. And i started upon Steel it should finish in Armstrongs turnset.

Stratagy- Before attacking the Inca we should attack the Indians. Gandi is Jewish which means no 1 on his contient will help him since they are all Budist if we invade him. There should be no Dipolomatic suffering and then we can take them down 1 by 1. A little more detail: The invasion should be from sea and land. we start east and head east then from the west and head west until they meat then we hold all coastal cities and burn all iner cities (except the capital) and we have a small expidtion force in Grece and move north and take some iner cities. then has soon as we take down Gandi we should go south and invade Monty from the north on land with a small number of troops that will sweep though and destroy all non needed cities. and then we come in from the east and head east then from the west after that we look north towards Egypt and attack from all fronts (if we still have open borders with greece) and attack first from the north then from the east then from the south and finally from the west and that should be enough for a domination victory.

Heres my turn more detailed;
Turn 1: HC offers world map i accept
Battle for Xian
Cosak kills longbowman
Cosak kills Cho-ko-nu
Cosak kills catpolt
We burn Xian to the ground :satan:
Turn2: a maceman kills one of our Cosaks near the site of Xian but im able to avenge his death
Gandi makes a deal saying he will give us Divine Right for Nationhood and 1410 gold i say no
Turn 3: Shanghai is fully devolped started upon theater
Turn 4: battle for Beijing
Cosak kills maceman
Cosak kills longbowman
Cosak kills longbowman
Longbowman kills cosak
Cosak kills longbowman
cosak kills catapolt
Tyrn 5:Courthouse -> cosak in anaszi
cosak kills longbowman
We take Bejing and i keep it
Turn 6: Communism is done and i start on steel to keep our warmachine going
And i converted to state property
Guangzu i fully devolped and started on a theatre
Conducted a trade mission in Athens and gained 4300 gold and a small surplus in gold that would end in 2 turns
Turn7-8: Worker movements
Turn9:Battle for Najing
Cosak kills pikeman
Cosak kills longbowman
Cosak kills longbowman
We take najing and i keep it
Turn 10: Axeman kills barb archer

If u are woundering why there are no pics is because my CPU is a craphole and isnt takeing screenshots at the moment

Good turns Xtream, but don't "kidnap" the save :p Can't play without it!

I think attacking across the ocean before Huayna might make sense. We've traded a lot of techs with Huayna, and he has knights and is the closest to Rifling (which would cut down our Cossacks, but not our Grens.) He can "bring the hammer down" more than anyone else on us... we need to clear a good chunk of the other continent anyway, so why bother killing our "Friendly" friend? Plus, we have a huge border with him that would not be fun to defend... since we're going to send our doughboys overseas anyway...

What do y'all think?

Your strategy makes good sense armstrong. Once we get a foothold on the other continent we might find it easier to get to domination without touching Huyana at all.

Okay, this is a "got it." I'd like to know before I play if the group wants to kill Huayna (ala Thrar) or leave him and focus on Astronomy+overseas (ala Xtream.) I see both being viable choices since we're crossing the pondfloat anyway, so I'd like some other input... I'm not used to this "dominance" stuff.

Also, does anyone mind me converting all but our core cities (i.e. everything but Moscow, St. Pete's, Persepolis, Nov, and our fishing village (tautologically)) into workshop factories? If we're going for a "fastish" dom, 2F3P workshops are the way to go I think. :)

Also, I think a revolt into Caste System would be a good idea to sustain our economy, and would let us stay in the research game if something goes terribly wrong. What do y'all think?

I'll play very differently if we hit Huayna or not, so I need a consensus before I play...

And... Criminy! I just went into our military advisor and saw we had 25 (!) workers. We're gonna shop this place up :)

Thats an Awesome idea we should get a bunch of production than crack out the troops at high velocity

I agree we should change our Ecodomy is crap and if we are going into a Domination victory than we should get the civics that are the best of value
For the first civic i suggest either Universal Sufferarage or Hereditary Rule so that way we can easily manage a large empire with NationHood as the second then Evutually we will be forced to have Emacipation for the third civic than Of course for fourth civic State property and the last civic should be either Free religon or Theocrasy
