Azzawad (Northern Mali) is really screwed up, the fundies controlling the north are so insane they are destroying pre Islamic historical buildings and shrines because "it can lead to idolatry", we have Somalia getting a comeback (a major rebel town fell a few weeks ago), now the Congo....whats next, Zimbabwe when Mr. Robert dies, at least Liberia is somewhat calm now

Really the idea that we could overthrow Ghadaffi and skip away happily was kind of ridiculous. Lets blunder into civil wars all over the world picking sides and surely it will never backfire! What ended up happening in Azawad and the embassy is a testament to that. It was known Ghadaffi had large numbers of Tuareg fighters he had armed to fight the rebels. Did no one wonder where they would go and what they would do once they didn't have to fight for him anymore? And what sucks is that MNLA has legit grievances against Mali, the Tuaregs have been treated badly, and maybe an independent Azawad would have been a good thing. (Probably not) But Ansar Dine sort of turfed MNLA out of all the cities so they're kinda the real loser here.
