Medieval European Mod II Preview

Wow the vassalage thing got more attention than I would have thought. :)
So whens it coming out lol?
When it's finished. ;)
No seriously, I believe we originally had planned to release it by now, but as we constantly add new stuff it becomes impossible to set a real date. I'm sure though that the release isn't too far away though.

well maybe you can add what you have now! :) and then continue your work, with patches ;)

Actually ED just decided that work on the main biq is to be finished this weekend. Then there isn't that much left, so you just have to have a little more patience. :p

I've been reading this thread backwards (kinda like Merlin in "The Once & Future King"), from the most recent post first. Got to where all the screen shots of the map are on page 8 and found myself wondering: "Self", I said (I always call myself Self), "I wonder how all them cities will affect the turn speed?"

You shoudn't worry things have changed. Most computers zip through turn times. I had mybe 20 second tops on the Firaxis version
On 206x206 mega huge mod "Anno dommi" there must have been over 450 cities, oddles of units plus overseas trading galore, all no more then a minute tops.

@embyrodead Congrats on your breakthrough.
I never liked how Conquest used Forbidden Palace to reduce corruption in order of citys founded. If I built FP on an island my nearest city next to it would be no better off then the others back on mainland. This is crap.
Its nice to see the distance from city come into effect again.

I hope you can make this work with a few FP wonders like interpol and summer palace so spreading out was like it was in PtW again.

Out of interest, if every one of your cities had a "forbidden palace," would you have no corruption at all?

I believe that the FP does not remove corruption entirely; it is not an exact duplicate of the Palace at center of empire. If that is so, then it would follow that the answer to your question would be in the negative.

Obviously they will affect the turn speed a little, but there is also the clean version of the map and the random map to play on. Maybe even more clean maps.

I haven't checked it but I don't think so - the distance corruption would be 0 for all cities, but not rank corruption. However, any city with FP + 2 normal "courthouse" buildings, will have 0 corruption.

Sorry I missed this one, I'll clear up some things about corruption :

I can't take credit for changing hardcoded stuff, ( unfortunately  ), but Conquests FP works like you've described only under Communism. In all other governments, the distance does matter, although much less than in PTW.

It's just that in C3C there are two types of corruption, one from distance and one from "rank" (which indeed closely corresponds to the order of city founding). FP helps distance corruption, but does little to "rank" corruption, so it still suffers some. Under communal governments distance is irrelevant, so it doesn't matter where the FP/Secret Police is.

You're right about map, in fact it's much smaller than many of the available scenarios (102x130). It's not at all slow and I my computer is far from new. But clean maps are more fun anyway ;)

Have you thought about using other city gfx?

Wow, this looks really interesting and I can't wait for it to come out.:goodjob:

I like the idea of FP in every city....hmmmm
