Mesoamerican Galley

If there would be more units, there would be more possibilities for reskins. ;) By the way, the galley looks good next to the wargalleon. :)

Did you have any ship requests? Bear in mind that I've only just started ship modelling though, and am still experimenting with damage shaders. ;)

Also, I think I need to tweak the scale on the galley because it still looks a bit large.

I find when you adjust one thing in scale, you have to adjust just about everything else!

I once tried to keep like-units in-scale with one another (like all sail ships in-scale with other sail ships, and modern ships in scale with other modern ships), but invariably, I found that even doing this a modern ship would look too small next to ancient ones... I wasn't really happy until I just made ancient ships smaller then default, modern ships bigger then default, and graduated everything else inbetween. It was a big pain at first, but has made all subsequent add-ons much easier to scale.

The scales have been tweaked like that in Cultural Diversity as well, massive modern ships and smaller wooden ships - but lately I've noticed that all the Galley units are too large in comparison to units like Caravels and Frigates. Which is annoying because I'll have to go and change all of them. :p

Yeah... it's really a matter of tweaking till you're happy with it... took me a lot of trial and error... I settled on default galleys of 0.15 and default battleships at 0.975. Everything else I just found a happy scale inbetween. I can give you a list of the default unit scales I tweaked if you want, or you can keep fiddling with it...

Of course, everyone's happy point may be different!

My default galley is at 0.16 at the moment, and that seems fairly large so I'll probably tweak it down .2 or .3. The real annoying part is that there are on average 10 or more units per type, and not all of them are the same size as the default.

Oh definately... I find aircraft and ships the worst... no two models are based on the same scaling, so I always have to do a lot of trial and error in WB to get all the fighters the same size as the other fighters, all the battleships the same size as the other battleships, so on and so on.

Nice one Chuggi. Ancient navy is definatly the place where we lack the most od cultural flavor units.
Agreed. Asia and Arabia had quite a few unique sailing vessels that deserve representation. It would also be nice if someone could go back and fix some of the older options out there. Specifically, the trade galleys, one and no masted triremes, galleas and war junks (both war junk.nif and Large War Junk.nif) are broken with BtS.

Very well done...

What's next... African Galleys and Triremes?
